Congressman Defends Bogus Fuel-Cell Trip
A Semi-News/Semi-Satire from AzConservative ^ | 10 Jan 2009 | John Semmens

Posted on 01/12/2009 3:28:01 PM PST by John Semmens

Representative Eric Massa (D-N.Y.) purported to have driven to Washington for the opening session of congress in a GM electric fuel-cell powered Equinox.

“Taking this GM electric fuel-cell car to Washington reflects all that I will stand for as your Representative,” Massa boasted.

Massa’s boast wasn’t true to the facts, though. The 282-mile distance between the congressman’s district and Washington exceeds the 200-mile range of the car and there are no refueling locations along the way. The trip was managed by abandoning the first car in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and continuing in a second identical car. Both fuel-cell cars ultimately had to be towed back to their points of origin.

The congressman defended the fakery by emphasizing the importance of a “greater truth.” “The issue isn’t whether I did or could’ve made the trip as advertised, but whether we, as a society, should make the trip toward a greener future,” Massa explained. “How could I hope to convince the American people of the necessity of converting to green energy if the impracticality of the journey were exposed for all to see? Sometimes we must edit perceived reality on order to promote a greater truth.”

This was just too funny to be true, so I looked it up, and sure enough, others are reporting the same story. Can there be a more appropriate demonstration of the illusory nature of so called ‘alternative fuels’ and the snake oil salesmen in Congress that bray about our need to immediately adopt it?

This guy represents my district. It used to be represented by RINO Houghton, then for wishy-washy Kuhl.

Kuhl wasn’t all that bad, could’ve been more conservative, but Massa’s just an out and out buffoon.

When Electric Cars come out . . . I’m going into the Tow truck business.

This is why Obama got elected, falsification of Reality. The Media reports the “Success” and Brain washes the stupids, and the the Truth comes out afterwards as a minor notation and un-reported factoid. An Inconvenient Truth.

It’s actually SATIRE - as stated by the source...

However - John’s satire is usually so close to the truth that it really doesn’t matter...the reality is spot on!

Fuel cells release water vapor as exhaust. I read somewhere on this site that the tree huggers are trying to classify water vapor as a greenhouse gas therefore a pollutant.

GM has come out with electric cars that use a small engine to recharge them...the volt is the one that will hit the market first. Personally, I like the new Caddy-don’t know when it’s coming, but boy the Surge is pretty.

The congressman defended the fakery by emphasizing the importance of a “greater truth.”

This is the Liberal philosophy in a nutshell.
