Only 31% of Democrats Support Israel's Attack On Hamas
American Sentinel ^ | January 5, 2008 | Michael Eden

Posted on 01/05/2009 4:47:51 PM PST by Michael Eden

A nation ruled by the party of moral idiocy. That's what we have.

According to Rasmussen:

Sixty-two percent (62%) of Republicans back Israel’s decision to take military action against the Palestinians, but only half as many Democrats (31%) agree. A majority of Democrats (55%) say Israel should have tried to find a diplomatic solution first, a view shared by just 27% of Republicans.
Hamas has launched some 6,000 explosive-armed rockets at Israel during the last few years. They have launched 3,000 this year alone, according to the Associated Press.

Hamas unilaterally abandoned the cease fire on December 19, and this organization dedicated to the destruction of Israel and frankly to dancing on the graves of murdered Jewish women and children initiated a massive barrage of rocket attacks that they indiscriminately fired into populated areas. Three hundred rockets fell on Israel before they responded.

And Democrats don't think Israel had every right and reason to respond?

Yeah, we can talk about the 38% of Republicans who are morally stupid. But I'd rather contemplate the 69% of Democrats - representing the majority in charge of the White House and both houses of Congress - who are so depraved that they don't think Israel has a right to defend itself from terrorist attack.

Barack Obama, our soon-to-be weasel-in-chief, has refused to take a public stand, preferring the cowardice of rhetoric (e.g. the "there's only one president at a time" mantra) to a shred of courageous support. Neville Chamberlain couldn't have done it better if he were resurrected to abandone allies threatened by evil all over again. The Wall Street Journal reports:

Some foreign diplomats in Europe and the Middle East said they have been frustrated by how strictly the Obama transition team has adhered to its mantra of there being "one U.S. president at a time," when it comes to the Israel-Hamas conflict.

Mr. Obama and his senior aides have declined briefings from the Israeli government on the current crisis, said two people familiar with the Israeli outreach. Some foreign diplomats said Mr. Obama's apparent reluctance to speak out on the Middle East is feeding uncertainty over how the international community should move forward on Gaza in the months ahead.

Should Israel have given diplomacy a chance? Not when the international diplomatic bodies are so biased against the state of Israel that their demand for Israel to cease fire and withdraw from Hamas territories refuses to even mention Hamas' actions.

That's right, those among you who would find thousands of terrorist-launched explosive-armed rockets raining down on your country a problem. The UN statement didn't even MENTION Hamas' actions that precipitated the conflict in the first place:

The United States and Britain rejected a draft statement that had been submitted earlier by Libya, representing the Arab League, calling for an immediate cease-fire and expressing concern about Israel's operation. It made no mention of Hamas rocket attacks on Israel.
I would love to go around bitch-slapping these Democrats (and yes, that 38% of Republicans as well), but these hypocrites who demand that Israel do nothing would have me arrested and prosecuted for my act of assault. Israel has no such recourse. It can only stand up and fight those who would attack it's citizens.

We are becoming a bad people. You can see it in many ways, but no more clearly than in this apathetic and hypocritical response to our historic ally Israel defending itself against thousands of hateful rocket attacks.

Nobody likes war. But you people who refuse to support Israel's right to defend itself against thousands of intolerable terrorist rocket attacks ought to be ashamed of yourselves.

My wife gave many thousands of $ to a prominent Jewish org every year for most of her adult life. Its a family thing. The parents and siblings all give an amount and the total gets the whole family into some Jewish hall of fame or something. Well after they all voted for Obama she told them to go fish. NO MORE MONEY.

This poll example helps my reluctant opinion that this leftist domination of everything important politically throughout most of the U.S. won’t change into a political rebound for conservatives for many years to come. The worldwide dumbing down of people in general not only continues, but it also continues to get even worse every year, with no end in sight.

Disproportionately includes the 70 - 80% Jews who vote Democratic.

The real is complicity by the culprit — the American Liberal Jew — who will sell out Israel in a New York minute just to mainstream his secular ego.

Liberal Jews are JINOs.

they may be but they are 8 out of every 10 Jew here in America

although I'm not certain that whether or not a Jew actually practices Judaism always guarantees they will do the right thing about Israel or anything else.

they may be more likely too though

i think the average American Jew hates and fears traditional American culture which they equate with Christianity more than they hate or fear Islam and their fellow kin in Israel be damned.

they give money and act Bronfman like in talk but if it means supporting a conservative who will definitely support their Israeli kinsmen versus a secular progressive anti-pluralist Muxxie-hugger who will do their domestic cultural bidding then Israel is thrown off the truck left rolling in the gravel metaphorically

it does not speak well for good political judgment from a crowd I consider to be the world's arguably smartest demographic

i think abortion is the holy grail for many Jewish women and that along with other bad stuff is paramount

i have heard it over and over from Jews I know that they fear the Christian right...period.

Jews on FR have abviously made the transition but most haven't...it's as natural for Jews to be urban sec-progs as it is for me to be a Southern culture rightist...maybe it's in our DNA respectively

Shoot bottle rockets at liberal jews houses, let them know in a very mild way the alternative their bretheren face in Israel. They probably wouldn’t care anyway.

wonder what percentage of Jews support Israel’s bombing?

Without numbers from a respectable poll all we can do is guess, but if my acquaintances/friends/family are any indication support for this operation among American Jews is close to total. ....and there are more liberal/Democrat than conservative/Republican Jews in that sample. Lib-Dem Jews are more than a bit uncomfortable with the increasingly anti-Israel sentiments in their party (and by leftwing non-Jews in general) -- a subject not often broached. But they're not uncomfortable enough to leave the party, obviously. Why? Because their religion is liberalism, and their sacred issue is "choice" -- pro-abortion. That trumps Israel and pretty much all else.

AdaGray,

I am a passionate supporter of Israel, and Jews who would live in the land that God gave them.

American liberal Jews, not so much.

I daresay there is a self-loathing on the part of these people. And they are willing to stick a fork in the eye of Israel and Israeli Jews to score points with their cynical cocktail-sipping liberal elites who all too often espouse the same views about Israel that Hitler would have spouted.

God still has a plan for Israel. It’s the United States who may be on the way out after abandoning its moral commitments.
