We listen to these clowns and save gas - hybrids, better MPG ratings, even air in our tires. Now they aren't getting enough money out of the gas tax, so they're going to increase it. Can't win.

Already happening here in Nevada. Our previous RINO governor took the tobacco settlement money and dumped it into free college for all high school kids with a pulse. Plenty of yelling and screaming now that the tobacco money is diminishing.

The real taxes will come when they put a “carbon footprint” tax on TOP of these little “sin taxes”, just because you are having too much fun.

Stop it, right now.

No. Just no. About ANYTHING.

And the sheep vote for the morons who bring us their convoluted reasoning for raising our taxes. I’d rather we just pay our stupid and corrupt Senators and Representatives $5 million a year in bribes to leave us alone.

In the long run it’d would be a whole frickin’ lot cheaper....

Left: Drive Less!, Drive Less!, Drive Less!, Drive Less!

People drive less.

Left: Tax them more; they’re driving less!

They’re only doing what politicians always do. What, you didn’t seriously think that you’d be allowed to keep all of those “savings” from having an automobile that is more economical on Petrol, did you? Pity the poor politician! What is he going to do without all that tax? He has to get it from somewhere, so if you are cutting consumption he must per force increase the tax rate.

After all, you can “afford” to hand him up to and including an amount equal to the price of petrol you are paying now. You can afford it! You’re already paying that amount, so you won’t even notice it!

Exactly what happened when we cut back on the use electricity. They had to raise rates because they weren't selling as much. There are probably reasons to reduce one’s power use, but it quickly became obvious that saving money wasn't one of them!

And we’re not going to win, until those idots in charge quit spending so much, and quit all the free handouts to lazy people and the other nations for it only to come back and bite us in the A$$. The Americans that work everyday are the true mules of the world. All together now..... heee-hawww heee-hawww

I want Nazi Pelousey to get a smaller commuter jet also.
I want Ted Kennedy and Al Gore to get a smaller house.
I want dingy Harry to remove his A/C from his home in Nevada.

All these things would reduce their carbon footprint and save us all money.

We don’t need higher gas taxes if we cut government waste.
What happened to the Federal Highway Trust Fund that we have been paying into for decades? Where is that money? social Security? congressional pay raises effective Jan. 1, 2009? I demand accountability before I sacrifice one red cent more!!

Fail fail proposition......IMHO !! Polidiots are in panic mode for something this stupid to even be considered ! Producers will bring prices back up and if this 50 cents per is added that will bring a tsunami of other economic issues that will not self correct due the current crop of leadership in the US.

With the average American being cautious and frugal due the economy it will get even worse.

Any attempt to add such a tax only to commercial carriers will again trickle down to the consumer. Individuals drive consumption and no amount of social engineering by the elite in goobermint will “force” such to improve. Simple mark to market self correction can’t be imposed.

Get ready for your CO2 breathalyzer. Also coming soon for cows, pigs, dogs and cats, a living tax.

Since we are alive, we consume oxygen and emit carbon dioxide so we must be taxed for how many times we inhale and exhale in a day. Is the pinnacle of civilization??
