For most of the United States and much of the world, this has been one of the colder autumns in well over a decade, with reports of unseasonable snowfalls and plummeting temperatures from the American Great Plains to the Alps of Europe and into the inner reaches of Asia. Even China's official news agency reported that Tibet had suffered its "worst snowstorm ever" in October. In the U.S., the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration registered 63 local snowfall records and 115 lowest-ever temperatures for the month, and ranked it as only the 70th-warmest October in 114 years. In fact, it's likely that 2008 will go down as the coldest year since in the United States since 1997. Now there is more news to refute the global warming feat industry. The earth ended up 2008 with AS MUCH SEA ICE AS WE HAD IN 1979:

But Global Warming causes stabilization of sea ice and also creates rancid peanut butter (sarcasm).
Surely a sign of global warming. As the earth heats up, water vaporizes more and travels on the global warming altered trade winds which take fresh water north. The water freezes, denying the earth valuable drinking water, creating droughts, and causing rising sea levels because of all the weight of the heavy ice sinking deeper into the sea...

Global temperature changes take place over thousands of years, often tens of thousands. Anyone who interprets a few years here or there is reading NOISE in the overall curve.
It may be useful or meaningful for the particular people living at that particular time, but IT'S MEANINGLESS in terms of overall Earth temperatures such as any form of global warming or cooling.
The Earth has undergone much larger temperature swings than anyone alive can even imagine, much less has experienced. BUT IT TAKES THOUSANDS OR TENS OF THOUSANDS OF YEARS to establish such trends.
SO CAN WE PLEASE STOP THIS STUPID CROWING ABOUT HOW IT'S BEEN A COLD YEAR, OR ICE IS THE SAME AS IT WAS 30 YEARS AGO???
Makes us sound as ridiculous as the AGW idiots. Geez.
If I recall correctly, Zerobama, the Messiah, or whatever he is called, in 2008 said that he was going to lower the level of the oceans. But since sea ice is floating on the ocean, any increase in sea ice won’t affect the ocean level.
Not necessarily. Evidence indicates ice ages will set in within a single decade.
Otherwise, I agree with your post.
Ice ages set in fast but take a long time to thaw.
You’re reading stupidity into sarcasm.
Trust me, these prople aren’t stupid and know that a warm or cold year doesn’t mean much one way or the other.
I will point out that ice cores show some pretty dramatic changes over just a few years.
But it has to get colder before global warming can start working correctly......a recent article warned...
silly weather changes every day........!
A while back I saw an alamist make the claim that the weather is too normal to be explained away as anything other than global warming.
Since global warming didn’t work out they becan calling it global climate change. I think next they’ll start using the term “global climate fluctuation”.
uh, the other side is claiming that the sea levels are rising and temperatures are increasing when they absolutely are not. Reality does not match with the AlGorebasm’s scare tactics.
The other side claims that due to Bush’s evil policies all hell is breaking loose, when in fact, things are unchanged.
> ...ice cores show some pretty dramatic changes over just a few years.
I don't deny that the scientific record shows evidence of dramatic temperature changes. That's different from overall global trends. For example, a radical cooling could be from a huge volcanic explosion, or a large meteorite, creating a lot of atmospheric dust. A radical heating could be a change in the sun's output or the radiation bands around the Earth.
Point being that such punctuation does not necessarily presage a lasting change. And unless Yellowstone blows up or a big meteorite hits, or the VanAllen belts suddenly lose their structure, we're not likely to see any such example in our lifetimes.
As a vaguely related aside:
The scientific record gives us only some RESULTS of temperature changes. It cannot give us the CAUSES -- we modern humans have to interpret and apply scientific methodology to make the inferences and deductions required to say WHY something happened. And in my (limited) research, there are darn few PREDICTIONS that work out -- things like "Our interpretation shows that if you drill a core in this other location to this depth, it will show the following...". Merely making up plausible reasons for what you see is not science. You have to come up with predictions and verifiable hypotheses too. Otherwise science devolves into mere tealeaf reading.
I personally think that we humans can make small-scale localized changes in atmospheric/surface temperatures, enough to make ourselves uncomfortable -- but they are still just noise on the overall curve of whatever the Earth is doing at the scale of thousands of years.
Point 1. The "other side" is wrong. Possibly insane. They have no perspective on the huge scope of what global temperature change requires.
Point 2. Rebutting with similarly perspective-less claims in the opposite direction is just silly, if not irrelevant. It's playing into their hands, by validating the idea that anything that happens (or doesn't) over less than a few hundred years is meaningful.
With rare exceptions (like huge meteorite hits), it isn't.
“Global warming” hoax BUMP!
bump
Come on! All that cold is just more evidence of global warming! How can you not believe every scientist in the world who proclaims AGW? You must be racist!
