The 1890s Chicago City Council was notorious for corrupt political practices orchestrated by a faction of its aldermen known as the Gray Wolves. So named because they were viewed as preying upon the defenseless public, the Gray Wolves were led by First Ward aldermen “Bathhouse” John Coughlin and “Hinky Dink” Mike Kenna, and Johnny Powers of the Nineteenth Ward. These elected officials were not only skilled at trading votes for favors, but once in office they excelled in making municipal decisions to profit themselves financially.

Proof That Obama’s Hawaii and Chicago Communist Networks Were Linked?

It is now well established that Barack Obama was linked to the Hawaiian Communist Party network through his boyhood/teenage mentor Frank Marshall Davis.

It is also well known that after moving to Chicago, Obama linked up with the local communist networks.

Manning Marable, a leader of the Communist Party offshoot Committees of Correspondence for Democracy&Socialism claims that Obama “understands what socialism is. A lot of the people working with him are, indeed, socialists with backgrounds in the Communist Party or as independent Marxists. There are a lot of people like that in Chicago who have worked with him for years...”

This leads to two key questions.

A Were the Hawaii and Chicago networks connected?

B Did Obama’s connection to Frank Marshall Davis in any way influence his progress up the Chicago political ladder?

If the answer is yes to both, there are significant implications.

It means that that the Communist Party USA was watching Obama from an early age and was willing to help his political career.

Frank Marshall Davis was active in the Chicago Communist Party until he moved to Hawaii in late 1948.

I speculated in this post that Davis may have known left wing journalist Vernon Jarrett in post war Chicago. A connection would be significant because the Jarrett family has played a very important role in Obama’s rise to power.

Both Jarrett and Davis worked in the communist dominated South Side Community Art Center and on the communist influenced Chicago Defender newspaper, in late 1940s Chicago.

I have since found conclusive evidence that Davis and Jarrett not only knew each other, but worked together in another Communist Party dominated organisation-The Citizen’s Committee to Aid Packing House Workers.

The letter above is dated April 12, 1948. Note that CIO (Congress of Industrial Organizations) was at the time a communist controlled labor federation.

To the left is a partial list of Citizen’s Committee to Aid Packing House Workers officials.

Note the names Oscar C. Brown (Treasurer) and Louise T. Patterson (Assistant Treasurer), F.M. Davis and Vernon Jarrett.

To confirm the connection, below is a close-up of the committee’s publicity committee. Note that it is chaired by Vernon Jarrett and includes Frank Marshall Davis.

That the Citizen’s Committee was communist influenced is beyond doubt.

Louise T Patterson was the wife of Illinois Communist Party vice-chairman and attorney William Patterson and a prominent Party member in her own right. Louise Patterson was still a leader of the Illinois Communist Party well into the 1970s.

Further down the page was list of the organization’s “Food and groceries committee”. Named among them was Ishmael Flory, a leader of the Illinois Communist Party from the late 1930s until his death in 2004.

Incidentally, one of the eulogists at Flory’s funeral was Timuel Black, a well known member of Committees of Correspondence for Democracy&Socialism and a long time friend and political supporter of Barack Obama.

Oscar C Brown-later a famous jazz musician under the name Oscar Brown jnr, was also at the time a Communist Party member. he joined in 1946 and was expelled around 1954.

In 1948 Vernon Jarrett left his job as journalist at the Chicago Defender to start a black oriented radio show “Negro Newsfront” with Oscar Brown.

Jarrett was clearly on the far left and almost certainly, like his colleague Frank Marshall Davis, a covert member of the Communist Party.

Jarrett worked hard promoting socialist causes including the communist controlled Progressive Party.

Vernon Jarrett went on to become the Chicago Tribune’s first black syndicated columnist and was a founder of the National Association of Black Journalists.

According to a Washington Post obituary May 25th 2004

Mr. Jarrett continually shone a light on African American history and pertinent issues in Chicago and throughout the country. He stoked the political embers in Chicago that led to the 1983 election of the city’s first African American mayor, Harold Washington.

Vernon Jarrett was a key influence in Washington’s decision to run for the Chicago mayoralty and remained a key supporter through his four year tenure.

Harold Washington defeated the Daley machine to win the mayoralty backed by a coalition led by Chicago’s Communist Party and the local branch of Democratic Socialists of America (DSA).

DSA member and socialist historian Paul Buhle, wrote in a 1992 article for the Encyclopedia of the American Left;

Communists also gained from long-standing political contacts in the black community. Victories of black mayoral and congressional candidates with decades — old ties to the CP — a short list would include Coleman Young and George Crocket in Detroit, Gus Newport in Berkeley, and somewhat more ambiguously, Harold Washington in Chicago

Washington was actively involved in Communist Party fronts such as the US Peace Council and the Chicago Committee on Southern Africa, right up to winning the mayoralty-with Party support. After victory he stacked his administration full of communists, socialists and sympathisers to create one of the most far left administrations in US history-cut short only by his pre-mature death after four years in office.

I quote from remarks by Illinois Communist Party organiser John Bachtell to a “Special District Meeting on African American Equality and Building the Communist Party and Young Communist League, Chicago”, IL September 30, 2007.

The legacy of Harold Washington’s election and his administration is in the collective consciousness not only of the African American community, but the entire city. Many of his democratizing achievements endure 20 years later.

The historic election of Washington was the culmination of many years of struggle. It reflected a high degree of unity of the African American community and the alliance with a section of labor, the Latino community and progressive minded whites. This legacy of political independence also endures...

This was also reflected in the historic election of Barack Obama. Our Party actively supported Obama during the primary election. Once again Obama’s campaign reflected the electoral voting unity of the African American community, but also the alliances built with several key trade unions, and forces in the Latino and white communities.

It also reflected a breakthrough among white voters. In the primary, Obama won 35% of the white vote and 7 north side wards, in a crowded field. During the general election he won every ward in the city and all the collar counties. This appeal has continued in his presidential run.

Barack Obama has stated that Harold Washington’s victory in 1983 was the spur that made him leave New York to move to Chicago.

In 1992 Obama worked for the ACORN offshoot, Project Vote to register black voters in aid of the Senate Campaign of Carol Moseley Braun. Unsurprisingly Moseley Braun also had strong Communist Party ties and was Harold Washington’s legislative floor leader.

Obama helped Moseley Braun win her Senate seat, then took it over himself in 2004-backed of course by the same communist/socialist alliance that had elected his political predecessors Harold Washington and Carol Moseley Braun.

Commenting on the 1992 race, Vernon Jarrett wrote in the Chicago Sun-Times of August 11th 1992;

Good news! Good news! Project Vote, a collectivity of 10 church-based community organizations dedicated to black voter registration, is off and running. Project Vote is increasing its rolls at a 7,000-per-week clip...If Project Vote is to reach its goal of registering 150,000 out of an estimated 400,000 unregistered blacks statewide, “it must average 10,000 rather than 7,000 every week,” says Barack Obama, the program’s executive director...

Such was my experience with Vernon Jarrett, an African American journalist in Chicago who died at the age of 86 on May 23. I became a Vernon Jarrett addict, and I am proud of it!

Vernon Jarrett’s career as a journalist in Chicago began and ended at the Chicago Defender, the African American daily paper. In between, he was the first Black journalist at the Chicago Tribune, and I first began to read his articles during his tenure at the Chicago Sun-Times

Jarrett’s claim to fame is that he was a partisan of the cause of African Americans in the broad democratic tradition of Paul Robeson and W.E.B. DuBois...

Robeson and DuBois were both Communist Party members. On April 9th, 1998 at Chicago’s South Shore Cultural Center, Jarrett hosted a Paul Robeson Citywide Centennial Celebration event, with his old comrade and Party sympathiser Margaret Burroughs and former Communist Party members Studs Terkel and his old friend Oscar C.Brown.

Jarrett was fanatical about African Americans registering and voting in mass for socially conscious candidates. He championed Harold Washington like a great warrior, and this March, from his hospital bed, wrote an article appealing to Black Chicago to turn out to vote for Barack Obama in the Illinois primaries. Obama astounded everyone with an incredible landslide victory as the progressive, Black candidate for the Democratic Party nomination for the U.S. Senate seat from Illinois. From his sickbed, Vernon Jarrett issued a clarion call, and the people responded.

The Jarrett/Obama conection did not end with Vernon Jarrett’s death-it moved to a higher level with his famous daughter-in-law Valerie Jarrett.

A former Deputy Corporation Counsel for Finance and Development under Harold Washington, Jarrett continued to work in the mayor’s office into the 1990s.

In 1991, while Deputy Chief of Staff for Mayor Richard Daley, Jarrett hired Michelle Robinson, then engaged to Barack Obama.

Later Valerie Jarrett ran the finances for Obama’s 2004 Senate bid and served as treasurer of Obama’s HOPEFUND.

The relationship is more than professional-Jarrett is regarded as one of the Obamas’ closest friends and advisors.

Frank Marshall Davis works closely in communist causes with Vernon Jarrett in Chicago. Davis moves to hawaii where he eventually meets and mentors a young Barack Obama. Then Obama moves to Chicago where his career is promoted by both Davis’s old colleague Vernon Jarrett and the Communist Party. Vernon Jarrett’s daughter-in-law employs Barack Obama’s fiance, befriends the family and becomes one of President Obama’s most trusted advisors. The Communist Party throws its entire weight behind Obama’s presidential campaign.

Are we expected to believe that this is all mere coincidence?

Would there be an Obama/Jarrett relationship today, if there had been no Frank Marshall Davis/Jarrett connection through the Communist Party of post war Chicago?

What role, if any, has the modern Communist Party USA played in fostering that relationship in more recent times?

The Communist Party USA continues to back their “friend” Barack Obama.

How deeply has the Communist Party been involved in advancing Obama’s political career-through the Jarrett family, or by other means?

The answers to these questions will have major implications for the future of what’s left of the free world.

Then Obama moves to Chicago where his career is promoted by both Davis’s old colleague Vernon Jarrett and the Communist Party. Vernon Jarrett’s daughter-in-law employs Barack Obama’s fiance, befriends the family and becomes one of President Obama’s most trusted advisors. The Communist Party throws its entire weight behind Obama’s presidential campaign.

Are we expected to believe that this is all mere coincidence?

AN INTERVIEW WITH TREVOR LOUDON by John Charlton

Mr. Trevor Loudon (Sept. 14, 2009) — Revelations that Obama was not just chummy with Marxists and Socialists throughout his life, but even may have been recruited by the KGB, first surfaced with Tom Fife, the physicist’s testimony (see www.rense.com for audio file).

More recently, a New Zealand researcher has obtained documents which connect the dots, and seemingly confirm the Fife testimony.

To get a better understanding of the Communists network in America, I requested an interview with Trevor Loudon, of New Zealand Research Assosciates, who has spent much of his life investigating international marxism and its operatives. Such is Loudon’s authority, that Media Matters recently named him the “Blogger who nailed Van Jones.”

What follows is a highly informative interview with Mr. Loudon, which is a must read for all thoughtful American citizens in the present national crisis.

The Post & Email interviewed Mr. Loudon by email, at his residence in Christchurch, New Zealand.

MR. CHARLTON: I asked your for this opportunity to interview you on the basis of a research article you recently posted on the Internet at your blog, The New Zeal, regarding the Communist Network in Chicago a generation ago. But before we discuss it, can you tell me something about yourself, for the readers of The Post & Email, who might be unfamiliar with Trevor Loudon, the New Zealand researcher.

MR. LOUDON: I have been researching communism since the 80s-when our own Moscow aligned Marxists turned New Zealand anti-nuclear and destroyed the ANZUS Alliance.

My special interest is the ability of the far left to infiltrate and manipulate “moderate” political parties and institutions to influence public opinion and alter government policies.

I began studying the US communist movement after observing the strength of the Anti-Iraq war movement.

MR. CHARLTON: What was it that lead you to investigate the Communist Network in Chicago?

MR. LOUDON: General research into the Communist Party USA led me to stumble on a reference to Obama and his communist mentor Frank Marshall Davis in early 2007. It piqued my interest-even at that stage I could see he was marked for high office. The more I dug, the more I found-ties to Democratic Socialists of America and Committees of Correspondence and direct evidence of Communist Party support during his 2004 Senate campaign.

MR. CHARLTON: What importance did the Communist Network in Chicago have among the Communists in the U.S.A., before, during and after WWII?

MR. LOUDON: Chicago was the birthplace of US communism — the party was founded there in 1919. Chicago and Detroit were the centers of Midwest communism into the 1930s. The communist influenced “Black renaissance “ movement was centered in two places-Harlem and Chicago’s South Side.

Chicago’s advantage in communist terms, was that the industrial South Side with its large working class white, black and Latino populations was bordered by the more affluent Hyde Park area, and the thoroughly communist infiltrated University of Chicago. The Marxist academics of the UC had half a city of proletarians on their doorstep to experiment with and practice on.

Hyde Park has been a major center of Socialism and communism ever since. I believe it is no accident that Obama based himself there.

MR. CHARLTON: First, for those who may be unfamiliar, can you say something about Communism, Marxism, Leninism? What’s their origin and what’s the difference between them?

MR. LOUDON: Marxism is the collectivist political philosophy developed by Karl Marx in the mid 19th century. Basically it states that class struggle is the motive power of social change and that the working class is destined to overthrow capitalism and establish a classless, communal society-communism.

Leninism — developed obviously by Lenin, father of the 1917 Russian revolution — is simply a philosophy and series of interlinked tactical strategies for achieving power for one group at the expense of all others.

Marxism-Leninism is the use by Marxists, of Leninist strategies to achieve power.

Most modern communists pay lip service only to Marxism, which has been well and truly discredited. Leninism on the other hand has proven highly successful and has been used to take power in dozens of countries.

Most communists today are Leninists in practice, Marxists in name only.

MR. CHARLTON: What role did the Union of Soviet Socialistic Republics have in spreading Communism internationally? And in organizing Communist parties world-wide?

MR. LOUDON: From the late 1920s to the late 1980s, the Soviet Union was unquestionably the leader of world communism.

Soviet defector and former KGB operative Anatoly Golitsyn, claims that even the Sino-Soviet split of the early 1960s was faked in order draw the US closer to China.

I support that view.

MR. CHARLTON: Can we discount claims that the USSR backed communist organizations in the West, since communists existed in the West before they did in Russia?

MR. LOUDON: Once the Russian revolution was consolidated, the Soviet Union became the supreme ruler of the world communist movement.

All direction came from the Communist Party of the Soviet Union until the Khrushchev era, when more ‘independent” forms of communism were introduced.

While some parties were nominally more independent and even critical of Moscow in some instances, the Soviets still maintained their central coordinating role.

MR. CHARLTON: What were the goals of the American Communist Party?

MR. LOUDON: A socialist/communist America — (and they) still are.

From early on the US communists put great emphasis on infiltrating the labor unions, the Democratic Party, the US government and the “civil rights” movement.

While hugely reduced in size the US communists and their allies in Democratic Socialists of America, Committees of Correspondence and the wider “progressive” movement have huge influence on the more than 70 strong Congressional Progressive Caucus, the AFL-CIO and several large black and Latino organizations.

These are being used to break down and alter the character of US society.

MR. CHARLTON: Who were the early leaders of this party in the U.S.A. in the inter war years (1918-1939)?

MR. LOUDON: William Z. Foster and Earl Browder were the main leaders in this period.

MR. CHARLTON: Who were the ringleaders, movers-and-shakers of the Communist Network in Chicago?

MR. LOUDON: In post-World-War-II Chicago you had prominent leaders like William Patterson and his wife Louise, later it was Jack Kling, the Childs brothers (both later revealed to be FBI agents) Claude Lightfoot, Ishmael Flory, Milton Cohen, Abe Feinglass, Richard Criley, Frank Wilkinson, Frank and Bea Lumpkin and Ted Pearson-today its John Bachtell, Scott Marshall and his wife Roberta Wood.

MR. CHARLTON: Who were the prominent African Americans in the Chicago network?

MR. LOUDON: In the 40s they included William and Louise Patterson, Ishmael Flory, Claude Lightfoot, Frank Marshall Davis and Oscar Brown. Vernon Jarrett (father-in-law of Obama advisor Valerie Jarrett) and future Chicago mayor Harold Washington were close to the network as was future Obama friend Timuel Black and close Obama associates: former Illinois State Senator Alice Palmer and one term Illinois Senator Carol Moseley Braun.

MR. CHARLTON: Can you tell me something about the Jarrett family?

MR. LOUDON: Vernon Jarrett was a prominent Chicago journalist who used his columns to promote Barack Obama during his 2004 Senate run (Jarrett died soon after).

In the later 40s Jarrett worked in at least three communist influenced or controlled organizations in common with Frank Marshall Davis — the two worked together on the publicity committee of a communist controlled Packing House Workers strike support committee in 1948..

After that Vernon Jarrett ran a black oriented radio program in partnership with Communist Party member Oscar Brown-later a famous jazz musician.

The Jarretts were family friends with the Bowman family and Valerie Bowman became Valerie Jarrett through a five year marriage to Vernon Jarrett’s now deceased son.

Valerie’s mother Barbara Taylor Bowman runs the Erikson Institute in Chicago. Tom Ayers, father of Weather Underground terrorist leader and Obama associate Bill Ayers served on the Erikson board as did Bill Ayers’ wife Bernardine Dohrn. Bill Ayers claims to be a friend and Hyde park neighbor of Barbara Bowman, who incidentally is an adviser on early childhood education to the Secretary of Education.

Valerie Jarrett hired Michelle Obama for a Chicago City job in the 90s and became a close friend and advisor to both Michelle and Barack, leading to her current job in the White House.

MR. CHARLTON: Can you tell me who was Frank Marshall Davis? And what were his connections to the Chicago Network?

MR. LOUDON: Frank Marshall Davis was a prominent Chicago journalist and poet in 1940s Chicago. He was member of the Dorie Miller Club of the Communist Party, but never publicly admitted membership.

Davis left Chicago for Hawaii in 1948, where he worked on the Honolulu Record, a paper controlled by the communist ‘owned’ International Longshoremen’s Worker Union.

Davis was an active, but still covert Party member in Hawaii and went underground with the Party in the mid 50s-after a Senate Inquiry into communist activities on the islands. Davis was one third of a three member underground cell with his wife Helen Canfield and one other comrade.

At one point the FBI observed Davis photographing obscure Hawaii beaches, leading to speculation that he may have been involved in intelligence gathering.

Davis was marked by the FBI for immediate arrest in the event of war with the Soviet Union.

Like many of his comrades Davis was an official in the Hawaii Democratic Party.

In 1970 Davis was introduced to a 10 year old Barack Obama, by Obama’s grandfather-who was Davis’ friend and drinking buddy.

The Davis/Obama relationship endured until 1978 when Obama left for college in Los Angeles.

Frank Marshall Davis was listed as an endorser of the well documented Communist Party front-Committee for Protection of Foreign Born until at least 1974.

Davis died in 1987.

MR. CHARLTON: Why did Davis go to Hawaii?

MR. LOUDON: It was reportedly at the suggestion of both the singer/activist Paul Robeson and ILWU boss Harry Bridges-both covert party members.

MR. CHARLTON: Did Barry get help from Davis to go to Occidental? To get into Columbia or Harvard?

MR. LOUDON: No evidence

MR. CHARLTON: Did the Chicago Network invite Barack Obama to Chicago?

MR. LOUDON: Obama claims that he was inspired to leave New York for Chicago in 1983 after the election of the city’s first black mayor Harold Washington-who was involved in Party fronts well into the 1980s.

It is important to note that Obama attended “socialist conferences” at the Cooper union while in New York.

Cooper Union was the usual venue of the annual Socialist Scholars Conference which was organized by Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) — the US’s largest socialist/Marxist grouping.

Chicago DSA allied with the Chicago CP to elect Harold Washington and Carol Moseley Braun.

DSA endorsed Obama in his 1995 Illinois State senate run.

Obama joined the Chicago New Party at that time. The New Party was a coalition of ACORN, DSA, Committees of Correspondence and SEIU activists

Obama worked closely with several DSA members in Chicago, a well as with come cadre from Committees of Correspondence — a Communist Party splinter group.

Several of Obama’s close friends, neighbors and colleagues were involved with DSA including Saul Mendelson, Quentin Young, Timuel Black, Rabbi Arnold Wolf, Jackie Grimshaw, Leon Despres and Congressmen Danny Davis and Jan Schakowsky.

Of those Mendelson was an ex Trotskyite, Young is an ex Communist, Despres was an ex Socialist Party member and Trotskyite, Black is also a member of CoC and Davis has ties to both the Communist Party and CoC.

MR. CHARLTON: What history is there between Obama and the Communist Party since his arrival in Chicago?

MR. LOUDON: Obama’s main documented links to the Chicago left were through DSA, Committees of Correspondence and the New Party.

Prominent CoC leader Manning Marable wrote in Britain’s Socialist Review of November 2008:

What makes Obama different is that he has also been a community organizer. He has read left literature, including my works, and he understands what socialism is. A lot of the people working with him are, indeed, socialists with backgrounds in the Communist Party or as independent Marxists. There are a lot of people like that in Chicago who have worked with him for years…

That said, both the Chicago Communist Party and Young Communist League campaigned for Obama in his 2004 Senate race and both organizations overtly campaigned for Obama in 2008.

Communist Party leader Sam Webb recently described Obama as a ‘friend.”

MR. CHARLTON: What does Obama mean by “Change we can believe in“? Who is this “we”, and what is this “change”?

MR. LOUDON: We is the broad ‘progressive movement” which includes the Communist Party, Democratic Socialists of America, Committees of Correspondence, Freedom Road Socialist Organization, ACORN, AFL-CIO, Change to Win, Demos, Institute for Policy Studies, Center for American Progress, Campaign for America’s Future, George Soros’s Open Society institute, United for Peace and Justice, Jobs with Justice, Economic Policy Institute, US Action, Apollo Alliance, the more than 70 strong Congressional Progressive Caucus, Progressive democrats of America, the wider Democratic Party…..etc, etc and their allies in the MSM, academia and government.

The change is towards a unionized, centralized, oligarchic “progressive” society where the values of the left reign supreme and traditional American values are demonized and all opposition is marginalized-by whatever means necessary.

MR. CHARLTON: Was Obama ever a Communist Party Candidate? A Socialist Party candidate?

MR. LOUDON: I doubt he was ever that silly. The New Party which Obama did join was established by DSA, CoC, ACORN, SEIU and the far left Institute for Policy Studies, but it was leftist, rather than openly Marxist.

MR. CHARLTON: Who in the current Obama Administration has ties to the Communist or Socialist parties?

MR. LOUDON: Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis has ties to the Communist Party, DSA, Socialist International and Cuba.

David Bonior (formerly number two Democrat in Congress) who is working for Obama to re-unite the AFL-CIO and Change to Win is a paid up DSA member.

Carol Browner (Energy/Climate change) has ties to the Socialist International-which despite its name now includes several ‘former’ communist parties — and China as an “observer”.

David Axelrod was mentored by two Communist Party linked activists, Don Rose and David S Canter in his early days in Chicago. At one point Canter, an importer of Soviet literature was required to register as an agent of the Soviet Union.

Van Jones, was of course involved with STORM and the Bay Area Committees of Correspondence.

New manufacturing Czar Ron Bloom is an anti-capitalist with some links to DSA

There are others who I’d rather “keep my powder dry” on at this time.

MR. CHARLTON: Is there any significance in the kind of authority or power he has given to each, regarding the “Change” that he wants to introduce?

MR. LOUDON: Take “manufacturing Czar Ron Bloom — I predict that he will push for card-check to increase union power.

He will also push for single payer health care. He will run the argument that to make US industry competitive, industry must be relieved of the health benefits burden. It must instead be loaded on to the taxpayer to get “industry’-unionized industry only of course-“back on its feet.

All the Czars have, I believe, been picked to centralize and socialize their particular sector of US society — or to provide camouflage for their underlings who will do the real work.

MR. CHARLTON: What significance do you put on the evidence you have gathered?

MR. LOUDON: That’s for my readers to decide.

MR. CHARLTON: For the record, from your research, can you say if there is any kind of collaboration or alliance between international Communism and Islamic Fundamentalism?

MR. LOUDON: That goes very deep. It is nothing new-the communists have been infiltrating Islam since the twenties, just as they have Christianity in the west and Hinduism and Buddhism in South Asia.

There are numerous links between Middle Eastern communist parties and the PLO and other radical Islamic groups. The same in the US-the left has bent over backwards to defend Islamic radicalism and attack all US efforts to defeat militant Islam.

MR. CHARLTON: Does China have any role in the Communist Party in America?

MR. LOUDON: Yes-the Communist Party USA has developed extensive ties to China in recent years. The Russians haven’t been forgotten though. Party leader Sam Webb was in Moscow a couple of years ago.

MR. CHARLTON: Why should free peoples everywhere, be wary about Communists after the fall of the Berlin Wall?

MR. LOUDON: Because China has 70 million party members and the movement is very strong in Europe, Japan, Latin America, Southern Africa and of course Russia.

You also have 70 members of the congressional progressive caucus, most of whom would be very comfortable in a European socialist or communist party.

You have a president who…….

Your media tells you little of communist/socialist strength overseas and nothing of your internal threats.

The big advantage that modern communists and socialists have over their 1950s counterparts is that today they have virtually zero governmental or media opposition.

Until Fox news that is.

MR. CHARLTON: What kind of Communist infiltration is there in the Main Stream Media in the West? Is their editorial policy based on this?

MR. LOUDON: The left infiltrated the journalism schools very early in the piece-turning budding reporters into “social change agents” rather than objective news gatherers.

Add to that a craven fear of being labeled a “McCarthyist” and a deliberate policy of infiltrating leftists into key media positions and you have a big problem.

The MSM practically went through Sarah Palin’s underwear drawer — which is perfectly legitimate as every candidate for high office deserves scrutiny — but gave Barack Obama and Van Jones a free pass.

MSM bias is blatant. Thank god for the internet and Glenn Beck.

MR. CHARLTON: Is there anything you would like to add?

MR. LOUDON: Thanks for the opportunity to address your readers.

Supplimentary to your reference to the meaning of the word “change”, investigate the findings of the “Reese Committee Investigations of Tax Free Foundations” by the House of Representatives in 1953-4.

It was reported to this Committee that these Foundations enjoy exemption from taxes so that they may USE THEIR GRANT MAKING POWERS TO ALTER (”change”) LIFE IN THE U.S. SO THAT IT CAN BE MERGED WITH THE SOVIET UNION. This is exactly what has been happening for almost a century.

THIS IS TREASON! But it seems to have become our federal “public Policy” Incredible!!! We need to restore the House Committee on un-American Activities.

You wouldn’t say that. Somebody else is saying that. Barack Obama wouldn’t say that.” Jarrett admitted to Vogue, “I kind of know what makes them who they are.”

Who is this person to whom Jarrett is so indebted – and who, we shall see, she calls a personal friend? Marilyn “guerrilla nail” Katz provided “security” for Students for a Democratic Society at the 1968 Democratic Convention.

That year (1983), Katz became an organizational entrepreneur herself, founding MK Communications, Inc., a public relations firm. Its clients include the ACLU, Amnesty International, Chicagoans Against War & Injustice, Harold Washington 1983-1987 Mayoral Campaign, Lloyd Doggett’s senate campaign, Human Rights Watch, Illinois Campaign for Choice, Illinois Coalition Against the Death Penalty, the socialist publication In These Times, the MacArthur Foundation, Mother Jones, National Community Development Initiative (for the Rockefeller Foundation), UAW Local 719, and numerous City of Chicago accounts.

Katz had a few other noteworthy clients: Project Vote, the ACORN-affiliated voter registry that first brought Barack Obama to Chicago as a “communist organizer”; the Habitat Company; The Joyce Foundation, on whose board Obama sat; and History Makers, which interviewed Valerie Jarrett, her mother, and her father-in-law.

After the inauguration, Jarrett successfully pushed to loosen restrictions barring officials from meeting with lobbyists, a rule enshrined in Obama’s executive memo on the Recovery Act, for fear other “legitimate” concerns – raised by “civil rights organizations whose directors happen to be registered lobbyists – will not be heard.”

Jarrett lobbied Obama to create the office of Chief Diversity Officer within the FCC, a position filled by Mark Lloyd, an Alinskyite and former senior fellow at the Center for American Progress, who appears fixated on silencing conservative talk radio. Her intent, according to some, was to change policy by altering the structure of the FCC.

Jarrett also helped recruit Cass Sunstein, who believes in the Fairness Doctrine, has argued we should “celebrate tax day,” and believes animals should have legal standing to sue humans. (This is a growing movement on the Green Left.

After talking to Soros for an hour about his prospective bid for the White House, Obama walked down the hall and found assembled a dozen of the city’s heaviest-hitting Democratic fund-raisers: investment banker Hassan Nemazee, Wall Street power Blair Effron, private-equity hotshot Mark Gallogly, hedge-fund manager Orin Kramer. Most had been big-time John Kerry backers in 2004. Most had a connection to the Clintons. All were officially uncommitted for 2008.

Here’s the US Attorney of the Southern District Preet Bharara’s complaint against Democratic mega-donor Hassan Nemazee, the chairman of Nemazee Capital Corp. who was arrested today on charges that he used phony documents to trick Citigroup Inc. into lending him up to $74 million.

Nemazee is perhaps best known as a fundraiser for both President Obama and former Sen. Hillary Clinton.

He also served as national finance chairman for the DSCC when it was headed by Sen. Chuck Schumer, which is sort of ironic, considering that Bharara was, until very recently, working as chief counsel to the senior senator of New York.

Nemazee has maxed out in contributions to both Schumer and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, giving them a total of $4,800 each (two $2,400 checks to Schumer in April - one for the primary, one for the general - and two of the same amount to Gillibrand in June).

Woops. I missed some additional contributions. Nemazee gave Gillibrand $1,000 in 2005 and another $1,000 in 2006. He gave two $2,000 donations to Rep. Carolyn Maloney in 2005. There was also $151,700 to the DSCC between March 2006 and March 2009.

I’m still awaiting word on whether this money will be returned.

Jarrett’s ties to the University of Chicago are longstanding.

Her father, James Bowman, is Professor Emeritus in Pathology and Medicine at the University and the first African American to be tenured in the Division of Biological Sciences. The University’s Bowman Society, which promotes minority health care and diversity in the biological sciences, is named after him.

Wall Street bids adieu to famed Lazard dealmaker: Bruce Wasserstein died at age 61 after being hospitalized with an irregular heartbeat....the exact cause could not be determined. A Brooklyn native, Wasserstein amassed a fortune of about $2.3B doling out merger advice to players Carl Icahn and Ron Perelman. According to former Lazard banker, William Cohan, author of “The Last Tycoons: The Secret History of Lazard Freres,” Wasserstein made more money from investment banking than anyone else on Wall Street. “While everyone else was fighting the Vietnam War, he was studying English takeover law at Cambridge.” Lazard Deputy Chairman Jeffrey Rosen saw him slightly differently: “.....one who will be remembered as having the greatest impact on the investment banking business over the last 30 years.” Just nine months ago, Wasserstein took his fourth wife, shipping heiress Angela Chao, 29 (sister Elaine was Labor Secy for George W. Bush). One of five children of wealthy textile executive Morris Wasserstein, his grandfather was acclaimed Polish playwright Simon Schleifer; his sister was Pulitzer Prize playwright Wendy Wasserstein, who died in 2006. John Simpson, who ran the Chicago office of the investment banking boutique Wasserstein Perella & Company, had flown to Washington to meet with Mr. Emanuel at the behest of Mr. Simpson’s boss, Bruce Wasserstein, a major Democratic donor and renowned Wall Street dealmaker who had gotten to know Mr. Emanuel.

1998 Wonder Boy Rahm resigned his position as an advisor to Bill Clinton, to become a Wall Street investment banker with Wasserstein Perella, (now Dresdner Kleinwort), where he worked until 2002.

1999 Just like that (snaps fingers)——in 1999, Rahm became managing director at their Chicago office. According to Congressional disclosures, Emanuel made $16.2 million in his 2 1/2 year stint as a Wasserstein Perella banker (AND probably paid all his taxes).

Amazingly, with those contacts, Rahm became a multi-millioniare overnight——and he wasn’t even voted “Most Likely To Succeed.”

At Wasserstein Perella, Rahm worked on eight deals, including the acquisition by Commonwealth Edison of Peco Energy and the purchase by GTCR Golder Rauner of the SecurityLink home security unit from SBC.

2002 Rahm then ran for Congress (successfully, OF COURSE). Luckily (/snic) members of the securities and investment industry became Rahm’s biggest backers, donating more than $1.5M up to 2002, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.

2006 Rahm also leaned heavily upon the financial industry as 2006 Dem Congressional Campaign Committee Chair. Financial industry donors contributed more than $5.8M to the Dem committee (behind only retirees).

Remember, the point of Obama bringing Rahm in was so that “tolerant and compassionate bi-partisan Rahm” could work constructively w/ Congress to pass an ambitious agenda.......

Rahm Emanuel: From Clinton aide to money maker - He made friends and then a fortune

Throughout his career, Emanuel has anchored his success in the spheres of public life where political and economic power are joined together most closely. He rocketed into national politics because of his proficiency as a fundraiser, helping Richard Daley secure resources to win his first mayoral term in 1989 and later spearheading fundraising for Clinton’s 1992 campaign.

In the White House, he was Clinton’s political director and later a senior adviser to the president. One of his signature successes was his work with William Daley in securing passage of the North American Free Trade Agreement, marking a turning point in the Democratic Party toward the free-trade interests of corporate America and away from the protectionist demands of labor unions.

During the short break from politics he took after leaving the Clinton administration, Emanuel chose in investment banking a field that allowed him to take full advantage of the contacts he developed with corporate titans during his political career. Timing also was helpful. The then-soaring stock market spawned a rush of mergers and acquisitions during the late 1990s and into 2000, making investment banking extremely profitable for major players.

All of that already was clear when Emanuel left the White House in October 1998 and three months later took a job as a Chicago-based managing director for Wasserstein .

” Bruce was always anxious to bring high-profile, well-known people into the franchise,” said Rolfe Kopelan, managing partner of Capstone Partnership, a firm that specializes in Wall Street recruiting. “That varnishes your own image. Bruce was very involved in Democratic politics. So Rahm Emanuel would have been attractive to him.”

In a statement issued through a spokesman, Wasserstein , now the chief executive officer for the investment bank Lazard LLC, said: “ Rahm did a great job for our firm. Energetic and extremely popular in the Midwest, he had a keen understanding of the interplay of regulatory aspects and corporate activity in financial advisory work, particularly in the utility and bank industries.”

According to congressional disclosure statements, Emanuel received $16.2 million from Wasserstein , based on fees that the bank earned from eight clients. In each case, he worked to land the business either through a key executive he had come to know during his political career or was provided an introduction by a contact he developed through his political work.

Three of those clients were corporations controlled by major Democratic donors who developed relationships with Emanuel through their involvement in national party politics: Loral Space and Communications Ltd., headed by Schwartz, who celebrated his 71st birthday at the White House; Slim-Fast, headed by Abraham; and GenTek Inc., a telecommunications manufacturer headed by Paul Montrone.

Schwartz said Emanuel contacted him shortly after leaving the White House, and the defense industry CEO responded with an invitation to meet at his New York office. He said he hired Emanuel to explore potential deals with other companies, which he declined to describe.

“He knew a lot of high-level people in U.S. corporations, and they respected him,” Schwartz said. “So he can get to the high level of corporations to present ideas. And that’s half the battle: to get to the right people, so you don’t waste a lot of time.”

Another Emanuel client, medical equipment manufacturer Lumenis, is controlled by Arie Genger, a financial backer and confidant of Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon who has served as a back channel between Sharon and the Bush administration.

Emanuel said he forged a relationship with Genger through work on health-care policy, first encountering the Israeli-American businessman at a talk Emanuel gave on the topic while on the White House staff.

Genger did not return repeated calls, but Emanuel and the company’s former CEO both said he led a Wasserstein team representing Lumenis in the acquisition of Coherent Medical, a California-based laser manufacturer.

Two more clients were institutions with deep ties in the Daley administration: the Chicago Board Options Exchange and Avolar, a since-disbanded business jet subsidiary of United Airlines. Emanuel was hired at CBOE by Chairman William Brodsky, an active player in Chicago politics. At Avolar, it was CEO Stuart Oran, a former chief lobbyist for United who had come to know Emanuel through his lobbying work and through local political and cultural activities.

Brodsky said he hired Emanuel to represent the exchange in negotiations with the Chicago Board of Trade over a governance issue. Brodsky said he based the decision largely on impressions of Emanuel that he formed through contacts they had while Emanuel was a Daley fundraiser and White House aide.

“It was really because I had such confidence in Rahm from my previous dealings with him,” Brodsky said. “There were political dimensions to this. It wasn’t just crunching the numbers. In membership organizations, you have to deal with personalities.”

Oran declined a request for an on-the-record interview.

By Emanuel’s account, he benefited most from two big deals. One was representing Unicom, the former corporate parent of Commonwealth Edison, in an $8.2 billion merger with Pennsylvania-based Peco Energy Co. The other was representing GTCR Golder Rauner, a Chicago-based venture capital fund managed by Rauner, in its purchase of the SecurityLink home security unit from SBC Communications.

Rauner said he first met Emanuel for lunch at the suggestion of Erskine Bowles, the former chief of staff for Clinton. For Unicom chairman and CEO John Rowe, it was breakfast at the suggestion of Lester Crown, a billionaire who is a major shareholder in defense contractor General Dynamics. Crown said he developed a strong relationship with Emanuel through their mutual involvement in Chicago’s tight-knit civic establishment.

“When Rahm was going to come into town [after leaving the White House], I called John and said, `You should get to know him. This is someone you could use in business,’” Crown said.

“There were a lot of good investment banking firms that could handle this on a technical level,” Rowe said. But in a merger that combined regulatory, political and economic issues, he said, “ Rahm seemed to give that extra bit to think about the pieces and how they fit strategically.”

Emanuel’s involvement also proved valuable because of the timing of the merger, announced shortly after Daley and other local officials savaged ComEd for its laggardly response to summer blackouts in 1999. Emanuel’s relationship with the mayor and his skill in massaging political issues proved crucial in overcoming the blackout backlash, said bankers and executives involved in the deal.

While the Unicom-Peco merger came together relatively quickly, GTCR’s purchase of SecurityLink was a troubled transaction that stretched on for a year and nearly collapsed when the venture capital company could not get a bank to finance the deal at the agreed price. Emanuel had brought the idea to GTCR, and his strong relationship with executives at SBC helped keep it alive, Rauner said.

Worked relentlessly

” Rahm was relentless. He, in his heart of hearts, knew this should work,” said David Donnini, the GTCR principal who worked most closely on the deal. “I remember getting a call from him almost every day, throwing out ideas to make it work, some crazy, some not.”

Under a regulatory deadline to divest itself of SecurityLink, SBC financed all but $100 million of GTCR’s $479 million purchase of the firm. Less than six months later, GTCR resold the company for $1 billion, earning a quick $500 million on its investment.
