When my beautiful wife (I upgraded) and I got married 16 years ago, we talked a lot about our future children. We decided to raise them in a loving, catholic, conservative household. We would teach them values, manners and respect. Today they are 11 and 7 and I could not be more proud and blessed to have two such beautiful children inside and out.
As everyone, we have made mistakes in our lives, but the best decision we ever made was deciding to have my wife stay at home to have the primary role of raising the kids... Notice I didn't say "not work", because work it is... We made the decision that, even though it would be better financially to have us both bring home a pay check, the emotional and social benefits to our children would far exceed any financial gain...
We have not been perfect, but I think we (mostly my wife) have done an outstanding job!!! Kudos to you sweetheart, you have really done a self-less, amazing job raising our 2 children...
So, why does the stay-at-home Mom get zero respect from a majority of the public, including news articles, magazine publications, commentators and media in this country??? I have no problem with Mothers who choose to work (most have no choice). But there is a hidden, unspoken oh-so subtle resentment or disdain a lot of people have towards the stay-at-home Mom and I would just like to know why???
Let's just review a couple...

“June Clevers”? I guess that could be her name; there’s a successful mystery writer named “Barbara Cleverly.”
Libs just hate....period
You’d have something to really complain about if you had more than three kids, and homeschool. That’s where the vitriol gets really bad. My mother, with seven, couldn’t go to the grocery store without snide comments. (My favorite was the cashier who told me, a ten year old “Your mommy has rocks in her head” right in front of her).
I work with a ton of liberals, of which have many stay at home spouse Mom’s. So I have to say this article is complete crap.
“but there is a hidden, unspoken, oh-s0-subtle resentment or disdain a lot of people have towards the stay-at-home-mom and i would like to know just why.”
you seem to be trying to figure out cosmic insanity. (in some places they call it a war against G-d)
liberal sc&^bags are going to do their arrogant, dysfunctional dance until they destroy whatever it is they hate with such intensity.
until then, they will call their insanity enlightenment and your enlightenment insanity.
(hopefully, there is a G-d who appropriately rewards the arrogant who think they’re G-d.)
IMHO
The crap she takes from her liberal friends and family (even her mother! amazing!) is without end. Fortunately, she's independent enough to tell them all to go fish.
I attribute it to jealousy and Guilt. Her lib friends without kids are jealous of what she has. The ones with kids feel guilty about sticking them in a daycare for 10 hours a day so that they can pursue their own careers.
DY:
Could not have said it better myself...
And thank you for your service.... You are part of another group that does not get enough kudos (and pay for that matter!!!)
Thanks for keeping us safe...

Fifteen years ago, that question, when answered with a variant on “We homeschool”, was always followed up with “Is that legal?”
Even as a kid, I thought it was really stupid that someone would ask us in public if we were doing something illegal. Thank goodness we were fortunate enough to be just past the days when it actually was illegal.
Now, when I talk to people about my plans to homeschool, the reply is always “Oh, my sister in law does that” or “Oh, I wish I could have but I couldn’t because X”. I think homeschooling and stay-at-home moms are getting a lot more mainstream.

Of course you are entitled to your own opinion, but my point was from what I see, stay-at-home Moms do not get credit for the job they do....
And that’s my opinion...
You shouldn’t insult people for expressing their own opinion - You sound like a liberal when you do...
Just disagree and express your own opinion without the insult...

I was referring to the Mother from te sitcom, Leave it to Beaver - June Cleaver.... She was the proto-type of the perfect Mom back in the day..
I just assumed everyone knew the reference....

I also know plenty of rock-solid conservatives that disagree with homeschooling for a variety of reasons.
Her kids run the house. My Brother-in-law has a descent job but they live way above there means. Keeping up with the neighbors is her way of life. They have plenty but always want more.
There is a big difference between a lib and conservative Stay At Home Mom.
They LOVE the stay at home mom provided she’s banged out 8 kids from 7 different guys, is single, and on welfare. There was an article on this type of “stay at home” mom a few weeks ago on FR. You couldn’t find a snide or even a questioning comment in the whole article.
I’m familiar with June Cleaver; I just wasn’t sure why you’d captioned her as “June Clevers.” We stay-at-home moms can get pretty loopy by late-mid-week :-).
Simple answer: Today's stay-at-home moms are doing so by choice, because they know it is the right thing to do, not because "some man" insists on it.
Liberals cannot fathom this "domestic slavery" by choice.
Although there are many liberal women who also don’t work out of the home, I would agree with the original poster that there is a special contempt from many on the left reserved only for conservative christian women who stay home to raise their children. If a conservative christian woman stays home AND homeschools her kids, this is far more contemptible yet. On the other hand, if a liberal woman is fortunate enough to be able to stay home, and she tends a large herbal garden, practices yoga, and is trying to ‘find herself,’ this is commendable.
