Palin Church Fire Sparks Debate
The Bulletin ^ | Tuesday, December 16, 2008 | Joe Murray

Sarah Palin’s church was badly damaged by a fire the authorities are treating as an act of arson. The fire, which comes after a heated presidential campaign where Mrs. Palin’s church was ridiculed by major media outlets, has some Christian activists contending secular intolerance and bigotry directed toward Christians remains a serious problem in America.

“It’s a scare tactic,” proclaimed Bishop Janice Hollis, pastor of Progressive Believers Ministry. “It is a ploy to make Christians more docile and timid, less likely to fight for their rights.”

While it is unclear whether or not the fire at Mrs. Palin’s church was related to the Alaska governor’s unsuccessful run on the Republican ticket, some say the fire is just a reminder of permissive intolerance toward Christians that goes on with the tacit blessing of an increasingly secular American society.

“We know persecution is going to increase,” said Bishop Hollis, adding Christians should take comfort in the fact the Bible foretold of certain hardships. But she stressed Christians must remain vigilant in the fight to preserve their faith.

“[The persecution] is a challenge to the church because you cannot straddle the fence. We have to stand against those things that we know to be false.”

During the presidential campaign, Mrs. Palin was repeatedly mocked by the media for her religious beliefs. The media ridiculed her church for participating in a “Love Won Out Conference” sponsored by the conservative Focus on the Family. The conference is held to “help men and women dissatisfied with living homosexually understand that same-sex attractions can be overcome.”

The media also mocked Mrs. Palin’s relationship with the Rev. Thomas Muthee. The Rev. Muthee claimed he waged a successful fight against a witch in Kenya and prayed over Mrs. Palin in 2005.

Unfortunately for the named activists, this happens to be the only form of "intolerance and bigotry" officially endorsed by the guardians of free speech in the MSM.

The Church would probably have sponsored the same conference whether or not Sarah was running as VP.

To blame this on her is absurd, and shameful.

So let’s just assume that Rev Wright-Obama’s church was torched and see how the story should be rewritten .... Ah yes, to see clearly we need a few changes, then it all becomes crystal clear.

One really has to be brain-dead to think otherwise.

This God-fearing Republic survived attackes from a lot of different enemies, but secularisation of our society will be its downfall.

Summing it up...there is no “debate” when it comes to arson and this church burning with people inside the church.

It’s that simple.

Securalization - You canalso call it the focus of Equality over Liberty sponsored by those with a fiscal agenda and paid for by the U.S. taxpayer. We are already well into the process of the downfall of our Union. I believe the real question is what will the USA be called when it restores itself to a Republic?

Amazing. In a few short generations, America has gone from a largely Christian nation that celebrated its heritage with pride to a nation that tolerates hatred of Christians and Christianity.

I too let it cross my mind, the response of the media if it had been the Reverend Doctor Wright’s Church.

It would have been the lead story for a week.

I just heard that last night Letterman was joking about the fire at Gov. Palin’s church, he said they were looking for “Joe the Arsonist.” Real funny jerk, joking about arson, and attempted murder.

Yeah Greta somehow failed to see the humor /s

These people are complete assholes and to make matters worse they have no idea why she won’t play with them. All these years of McCain bending over for them they just expected to her too also I guess.
