I think quite a number of Iraqis were embarassed by how their guest got treated today. Personally, I got angry. Very angry.
I will make a public promise:
should I ever run into a certain reporter called Muntather al-Zaidi, presently of Al-Baghdadia TV,
I will seriously consider beating the crap out of him.
If I am successful in bringing him down, then my coup de grace shall be to take one of his shoes, preferably the one on the right, and stuff it in his mouth. I know that will be illegal.
I am willing to face all the legal consequences, and the tribal ones too. But as I said, I will give it serious consideration.
And should it come to light that someone had put him up to it, paid him or cajoled him into doing it, then they too will get the same treatment. I'm not cut out to be a thug, but I will try anyway.
See, I will forever remain indebted to President George W. Bush.
He is my hero. He liberated Iraq, and that's how I will always see it.
Had there been no President Bush, then Saddam would still be Saddam.
The usual suspects are ecstatic over what happened, especially the US-based media and Iraq-watchers.
I would like to beat them all up too, but I think that would be a tad bit excessive. The best revenge is to make them watch Iraq's democracy strengthen and prosper.
Today's images gave them a temporary high; a new Iraq, free and democratic, something they believed would never happen, will gnaw at their insides for the rest of their lives.
I'll settle for that.
Give it twenty years or so, but a main thoroughfare in Baghdad will be called George Bush Avenue. Or maybe that's just the name of my driveway. Anyway, there will be a big sign and all.
In the meantime, the progeny and immediate family of Muntather al-Zaidi will have a new tribal classification: the Albu Ni'alaan (ألبو نعلان), of the Bani Qanadir (بنو قنادر).

God bless Pres. Bush and our awesome military!
~~PING!
I find it funny that an “Iraqi journalist” threw a shoe at Mr Bush, when it is because of the Bush liberation of Iraq that there is even such a thing as a “Iraqi journalist”.
Thank God there are Iraqis who “get it”! I hope he does find this man and beat the C*** outta him! :D
Remind all of your liberal friends that as Iraq (hopefully) solidifies further, Obama, and almost all Dem pols and Dem voters get NO credit.
Amen and amen!
What gets to me is the incredible disrespect shown to President Bush by this little nothing of a man, this total waste of skin. After this human garbage bag threw the shoes and the people in the crowd jumped on him, he appeared to be shrieking like the little maggot he is.
Yes, but popping Pinch Sulzberg in the nose would sure feel good.
I think it would be nice if Nike would introduce a new running shoe with some Islamic symbols on the sole. Maybe do the same to rubber boots for farmers who have to walk in pig poop all day long. Just to show them we take our footwear seriously.
You have to admit, Bush did a very good job ducking those shoes. They were well-thrown. Without making any excuse for the reporter, he had a lot of bad things happen to him in the last several years (including being kidnapped) and he cracked.
What a class act Bush was. Firstly, I’m sure that at least one Secret Service agent was about a second away from breaking the guy’s neck and falling on him (in case he exploded), and Bush called them all off. Secondly, Bush took it as an opportunity to explain the “free press” idea, even after the Pres of Iraq was ready to confiscate all the cameras in the room.
What could have had a lot of propaganda value for the enemy, now has a lot of propaganda value for democracy. It couldn’t have turned out better. I wonder how the Arab press will cover it (if at all, ha ha).
The successful and long-term “dumbing down” of people, due to the worsening of worldwide political correctness, continues. The definitive question is: Can all of political correctness throughout the entire world ever be successfully reversed to the best of human abilities until it’s also successfully eliminated for always and to the best of human abilities?
That man is a journalist?! He he...
He should be in a mental institution?
Come to think of it, he already is...
what this a-hole fails to appreciate, is that if he had tried that crap w/ Saddam, he would have been strung up before the news hit the wire.
Good thing the shoe thrower wasn't Eddie Murphy's mom. She wouldn't have missed.
That is a brilliant observation. Unless you object, I'm turning it into a tagline. Had to shorten it a little, of course.
Why the hell didn’t President Bush’s security detail make this cretin eat a double-tap as soon he cocked his arm to throw?
Has the shoe-thrower been offered his own show on MSNBC yet?
My aunt, with whom I’ve had political differences, had to call my mom nearly at midnight to tell her that someone threw a shoe at the president. She seemed to be delighted about it. Her guy won the White House and there is still glee when Pres. Bush is attacked. Crazy. Just plain crazy.
