One thing I forgot to mention is that they especially don't want us to be a country. Its okay for the Chinese, the mexicans, the palestinians, the saudis, the Poles, the Czechs and everyone else to be proud of their country and heretige BUT NOT AMERICA! They say it is racist and that we are supposed to be a melting pot. That just sickens me.

Why...yes! Typical of these loony libs. Just like lefty actors who promised to leave the U.S. once W won (twice), they are still here. Anybody hear of the new lib mantra: “do as I say, not as I do.”?

I don’t know why anyone would look up to him.
John Lennon was so overrated as a musician. Neither his guitar work or songs have lasted for me. He treated his first wife and son poorly as well, but many fine musicians behaved badly with respect to their families.

Just as long as Iron Maiden would have still been around.
After that, I just don’t care about Lennon.

In Lennon’s defense: in his last years, he did extricate his head somewhat from his posterior. When asked for the September 29th, 1980 edition of Newsweek about his earlier political radicalism, Lennon said:
“That radicalism was phony, really, because it was out of guilt. I’d always felt guilty that I made money, so I had to give it away or lose it. I don’t mean I was a hypocrite. When I believe, I believe right down to the roots. But being a chameleon, I became whoever I was with. When you stop and think, what the hell was I doing fighting the American Government just because Jerry Rubin couldn’t get what he always wanted - a nice cushy job.”
So Lennon did manage in the end to grow up, at least a little.

There aren't all that many people whose deaths deserve to be celebrated and Lennon isn't one of them. Hitler, yes. George Joseph Smith, yes. But Lennon was at worst a man of his time and place - and a very talented musician.

John Lennon thought Yoko Ono’s “performance art” and “music” was brilliant stuff, enough said.

Yeah, I gotta say that Lennon’s vision wasn’t mine. His death (not wishing it on anyone) wasn’t a national crisis. He was a self-indulgent pop singer, fer cryin’ out loud. I don’t care how much these idiots mask their vanity with ‘Save the World’ concerts or imaginations of socialist utopias. At the bottom of it all and in the end, he was only one more deluded twit like way too many in my g-g-generation.

Imagine all the people sharing all the world

I use to live around the corner from the Dakota, saw Lennon all the time. He was a frightened looking man.
As for the above lyric...he owned eleven apartments in the Dakota, all for his own use. Harlem and its real-world poverty was a mile away. He didn't share very much himself.

Most of the world mourned the death of this man for his music but most of all for his views or I should say imagination.
I didn't shed a tear and for the life of me, I can't figure out why he was considered a musical icon. Other than being a member of the "Beatles" and marrying that twit YOKO, what were his noteworthy accomplishments?????????
