Rush on Barbara Walters: "I Love Sarah Palin"
The Patriot Room ^ | December 7, 2008 | Bill Dupray

Posted on 12/07/2008 6:51:31 AM PST by Bill Dupray

And here you have the best reason for Sara Palin to keep doing what she is doing. She helped get Saxby Chambliss elected. She was the first to accept the CPAC invitation for next year. She is playing for keeps. If Rush has her back in 2012, the Conservatives will be there too, and she will be tough to beat.

With wealth and power come greed and avarice. A true Conservative would have told Walters to F***off! But he has to be in the limelight. Has to curry favor with leftist hags like WaWa. Just Rush’s arrogance and media stupidity showing. Sure Barb, tyou want to select the 10 most influential people and then try to skewer the right-wing ones by clever editing,...screw you bitch!

Sorry that is really LIGHT! He can hold his own with anybody. Sean does that, Rush does not. Try listening sometime and you will see that.

It won’t be love until I hear her talk about immigration

I was impressed with her, I like her, but you're right. We've yet to hear her talk about anything beyond energy, really. I want someone who can effectively defend and explain the need for secure borders. Thats not just anyone.

She starts with attacks on Rush’s contract and his wealth, as if he is bad man for his success. Oh the irony. Barbara won’t ever have to answer this question about her wealth. She is part of the media elite. Rush did wonderful interview, of course. :)

Rush combines the four best qualities of conservatives: 1)humor 2)intellectual honesty 3) moxie and 4) mettle

Once again, I simply can not believe that freepers, of all people, are falling for the ‘what the media has made her’ crap. I hope you realize, you have fallen for the oldest play in the book. That fact that any freeper would even be concerned with what the media has done makes me question their ability to reason, let alone any grasp of reality.

Even after all of the MSM’s transparent attempts to minimize Sarah Palin - she STILL is the biggest draw around! The people can see through that crap! She needs to just keep doing what she’s doing & getting herself up to par when the next election opportunity rolls around for her. See my tagline, she’s got a great future!

Palin.. The only reason why I supported MR is that he was a Governor.. I tend to support Governors over Senators and Representatives..

The thing is she can establish herself throughout the next 4 years, but she can also wait to 2016. She’s young enough to go for either one.

I think it will have to depend on the mood of the nation in 2012. If it’s really tanking (like with Carter), then she might be good in 2012.

Liberals hate every good conservative.

We lost this election because McCain didn’t have his base.

There were a lot of Christians who voted for Obama, and I think they will start being repulsed early by Obama’s pro-abortion stand. I know they respect Palin’s abortion stand, especially with Trig.

I disagree. Sarah did bring the base out. What McCain didn’t do what to do his job-of bringing out more independents, moderates and Hispanics. McCain got close to 59.9 m votes only 1.38m votes short of Bush in 2004. As Rush said in his recent speech without the presence of Sarah Palin on the ticket McCain would have lost by double digits.

“I’ve yet to meet any middle of the roaders or liberals who even like her. Most have said to me that, for whatever reason, they absolutely hate her.”

To begin with, NO liberal is going to vote for any Republican, period. Middle of the roaders always vote their pocketbook—the economy, rather than the person. I think history has shown this to be true. I attended 3 Palin rallies during the campaign season. The majority of people I met, more women than men, were former Hillary supporters and had voted Democrat in the past. Among my family and friends, my mother, 2 sisters, 3 cousins, and 4 of my closest friends had never voted Republican in their lives, but all voted McCain ONLY because of Palin. With the right book, study (the formation of a kitchen cabinet is a fantastic start), and appearance on serious shows to demonstrate her gravitas, Palin can turn her image around. Things turn on a dime these days with all the media exposure.

But I agree about 2012. If somehow Obama has turned the Titanic around or is well on his way, and his popularity is running high, I do not want any of our “young guns” to run in 2012. Palin and the rest are plenty young enough to wait until 2016, and I do believe Palin even said in one of her post-election interviews that she may look at it in 2012 or 4 years later. That way she could do another term as governor and then have 2 years to concentrate on a campaign. If this is the case, let Mitt and Huck fight it out to be the sacrificial lamb in 2012.

Let me preface my statement by saying that I LOVE Sarah Palin, and would vote for her in a heartbeat over Obama, or any Dem, for that matter. I identify with her and her values.

That being said, let's be honest, Sarah *should* have been able to name specific books and magazines that she reads. She should have been able to rattle off a Supreme Court case or two. She gave a poor answer to the bailout question. It would be nice if she didn't sound so scripted in interviews too - although I suspect the campaign was at fault there.

It's totally unfair, but the media has created an image of her that she is uninformed and not intellectually curious (at least for the time being). It is also a fact that while Republicans adore her by and large, moderates and indepedents do not. She is a very polarizing individual. It's not that she has made herself polarizing, it's that the media has created a caricature of her that is. She is going to have to fight that. She is going to have to find a way to break through the media filter and re-introduce herself as a competent, conservative, common-sense leader - someone that endears themselves to independent voters. Like Hillary Clinton, it is difficult for politicians to win national elections when 50% of the country already has a negative view of them. Again, it's unfair - but it is what it is.

Too many FReepers enthusiastically jumped in to support Juan McCain to convince me that they all will support Sarah. There’s still some socialists in this forum, IMO.

However, how much of this enthusiastic support was due to Palin? Is it entirely possible that some sided with the devil they knew (McCain/Palin) than the devil they didn't (Hussein)?

I believe that she needs to finish her term as Governor - which she seems to be performing with great skill - and then join the rubber chicken circuit. Make speeches, raise money, campaign and raise money for conservative candidates at all levels, do appearances (and maybe guest-host) on the radio and TV talk shows, and perhaps most important, WRITE A BOOK that lays out a comprehensive, coherent, conservative plan of action.

And the fact that freepers are using it as a reason to not vote for her is absolutely disgusting.

I, for one, will not let the MSM tell me what I should think or believe when it comes to politicians, especially conservatives.

I think its shameful freepers have fallen for it.

All you have to do is to think of Katie Couric. Do you really want her influencing you how to vote? If you were lost would you even stop to ask her for directions on how to get to the nearest Wal-Mart?

I think McCain’s camp mishandled her. I think they threw so much information and things that they wanted her to say that she couldn’t speak from her heart.

She’s done better without the McCain limitations.

Now, she needs to come across as a fighter for the middle class.

I think some may (at this point) use her public persona as a reason to support another Republican because they may feel that it will be a significant liability in a general election. Sarah will need to show that she is capable of winning a national election, and to do that, she is going to need to demonstrate that she can command a larger base of support beyond the GOP base.

I got a bit of fear when I heard words like “Big Corporations” come from her lips. It almost sounded like the left’s “greedy corporations” line. I’m not sure where her true feelings lie yet.
