Least we ALL forget The Newt has consumed the global warming cap & trade kool-aid.

Yep. This past summer, Newt was also one of those calling for the re-branding and transforming of the GOP. Newt flipped back to being Mr. Conservative after Rush Limbaugh read him out on the air and Sarah ignited the base at the convention.

Sadly, I believe Newt is too opportunistic and untrustworthy.

Newt is a New Ager!

He and Bob Dole derailed the conservative revolution of 1994.

I am for Newt too. He is the best IDEA MAN that I’ve ever seen among the Republicans.

No, I do not want Newt as the RNC commander in chief!!!

Do I think there are a number of things he could contribute to the work of the RNC chairman? yes (theory and mechanics of party organizing - yes); but not as the director, priority setter or public spokesperson.

I think Newt is brilliant.

I think his leadership style is not.

Me neither. In 1994 I had two legs and a wife. Lost them both in 2005.

I am so sorry to hear that!

Newt opened my eyes to conservatism back in the early 90s. He explains conservatism on a philosophical level better than anyone.

Go Newt!

>>>His background NO LONGER matters...

Does if he is republican, and ESPECIALLY if he believes in God.

I would be broke before he gets inaugurated.

You can sign me up when he calls Global Warming a fraud, his GW position is a total deal-breaker for me.

This may be the perfect, ideal, God-given spot for Newt.

I agree! I hope the Newt goes for it!

My blog has been a part of the "Drill Now, Drill Here, Pay Less" campaign that Newt headed up and the RNC sorely needs his leadership!

Palin in 2012!!!

I am with you on this. I just posted something close to this on Newt’s website: www.newt.org

Getting bogged down with the baggage that the far right has demanded for their support has been the undoing of the GOP. No one except you, Sir, has been strong enough to state very clearly what needs done to rebuild the GOP. Your logical goal of creating a “center right” party concerned with fiscal responsibility and good governance makes sense. You also understand that personal conservative issues make a lot of sense in the local electorate but almost never can carry over to the national level.

Sounds like you're saying he is a politician. Can't have any of them scheming against the Dems.

This is great news. Despite being tainted by his, uh, personal affairs, Newt remains the best “ideas and organization” man in the party.

Boy this is interesting.

Sometime last spring I predicted we would get our #sses kicked and have to rebuild and Newt would be the guy to do it....

100% behind Newt on this. He did it once and he can do it again.

People in this country are hurting and scared. Obama, Pelosi, and Reid have nothing to offer but the road to permanent institutionalized poverty. We need bold leadership presenting a bold message. Every day for the next two years needs to be building towards 2010. That will be either the beginning or the beginning of the end.
