FReepers: we need you now more than ever. Don't go!
The Greater Evil ^ | 11/06/08 | Polarik

Posted on 11/06/2008 12:28:36 PM PST by Polarik

FReepers, I know exactly how you feel right now. The shock of this election still weighs heavily on your minds, yet, not as much as it did on Tuesday and Wednesday. It felt like someone reached into your chest and ripped out your heart -- as if someone had just stabbed you in the gut. You didn’t feel like eating, talking, listening, sleeping, or watching TV – especially TV, for the utter and complete failure of the media to be fair, to be balanced, to refrain from acting like the Three Monkeys and shut off all their senses to what was going on around them.

You and I are experiencing the first stage in the grieving process: a model for helping us to understand and deal with trauma and with the loss of a loved one. It's not just for death and dying, for this process applies to our love of country, our respect for our Constitution, our desire to keep America a strong, but righteous nation, and to feel really proud throughout our entire lives, from the first time to the last time.

I was in high school when JFK was assassinated. I can say that, at no time in my past have I been as shaken to the core as that fateful day in Dallas. For on that day, we witnessed the death of much more than a man, much more than a President, much more than a world leader, much more than a visionary, and much more than someone who we welcomed into our homes as a trusted friend. Our country felt a tremendous loss, just as we here do today, with respect to our country, our families, our neighbors, and ourselves. Yet, somehow, we managed through that collective pain to pull together as a nation, and to put away hatred for resolve. We began to heal our wounds. We still had a major war to fight – a war that none of us wanted to have. A war not at all like the wars of today, and one where our country was forced to accept defeat.

For us, wherever tyranny rears its ugly head, we heed the call. Whenever our cherished liberties are threatened, we bind together. And, whatever trials and tribulations our great nation must undergo, “Defeat is not an option.” When we laid JFK to rest, we thought that the worst was behind us. We were, once again, united in purpose, but not by viewing the world with rose-colored glasses.

When the year 1968 arrived, we had already renewed our vows to our country, our commitments to all our servicemen and servicewomen still guarding the outposts to Freedom. We reaffirmed our commitment to protecting those freedoms at all costs, and we understood that no amount of sacrifice would ever be too great to bear. We made a promise to our fellow Americans, to our friends and neighbors, to our families, and most of all, to ourselves. That we will never allow Evil to triumph over Good. We were guided by these commitments and our faith in a glorious Union that had survived so many tests of its limits, of its fortitude, and of its resolve to remain intact.

We were ready, willing, and able, to move past our failures, and take on the challenges and opportunities before us. Just as we had welcomes the coming of the new year, less than four months after it began, we were once again eviscerated by the bullets of a man who hated the very idea of peace in our time.

Two months later, Robert F. Kennedy, would also succumb to the hatred of a lone gunman – or so they say. There was pure evil that resided in the mind of Oswald, but he was not alone, for that same evil permeated the soulless hosts of James Earl Ray, Sirhan Sirhan, and the other sixteen people who sought to snuff out the lives of other Presidents and Presidents-elect. In 1968 and ’69, Evil ruled the day as it sought out the very worst that America had to offer in the personages of William Ayers, Bernadine Dohrn, Mark Rudd, Tom Hayden, and the shadowy groups of radical leftists who espoused terrorism, racial hatred of whites, and Marxist revolution.

In the early 50’s, Americans had become paranoid of communists, thanks in great measure to McCarthy, and their obsessed with the notion that their great country was overrun with Socalist sympathizers. Who among them would have guessed that their fears in the 50’s would play out in the late 60’s with the birth of radical, anti-war activists listed above.

Here we are, four decades removed from the despicable and dastardly deeds of the Weather Underground, feeling complacent that these domestic terrorists were put somewhere far away so that they would not hurt anyone, anymore – as university professors.

We are heartbroken to hear how far our great country has fallen, how far to the left of Reason it has gone, and how far removed from the principles and ideals that kept her strong, determined, and united as one. It took a major tragedy to jolt us to our senses, to realize that the days of feeling safe at home are no more.

But, they never were – not like we imagined them. For as long as evil people are given a voice, there will be people to hear it. For as long as evil people are chosen to lead, there will be people who will follow. And, for as long as evil people are asked to think for us, because we no longer feel capable of thinking for ourselves, there will be people who will hand over their very souls in exchange for an imaginary paradise.

Someone once said that, for the first time in her adult life, that she felt really proud of her country. Yet, we gather here, to bear testimony, that, for the first time, in our adult lives, we feel ashamed of our country, for bending to the will of the Left. We feel empty inside, but I ask that you fill that void with the Spirit of America that will never die. I ask you to lift your heads high, and be proud of all those who stood with you, virtually toe-to-toe, if not actually so.

Freedoms cannot be bought. Patriotism cannot we borrowed. Righteousness cannot be traded. We ask no glory for ourselves, but for the greater glory that has kept our nation strong, protected, and shielded from the evil that lurks within.

We hear their voices for change, but what makes our country great is that so many like it just the way it is. I ask you all, to stay together, to keep this bond going, throughout the storms to come, and there will be many.

America was withstood challenge after challenge, whether from without, or within. Even when the minds of so many have been turned against us. Even when the minds of many conspire to bring our nation to its knees. I say to them, “YOU DON’T KNOW AMERICA!”

I turn to those who say, “God D**n America,” “and answer, “Here’s the door. Don’t let it hit you on your way out.”

They think they know America, but they know nothing of it.

They think they can lead America, but they can’t find the way.

They think they can dictate to America, but America does not like dictators.

They think that America is through, but they don’t know, they were through before they even began.

I ask of you, stay with us, pray with us, sing with us, cry with us.

Now, more than ever, your country is calling you.

Now, more than ever, your country is needing you.

Now, more than ever, your country is waiting for you to take it back, bit by bit, piece by piece, to quote those who seek to usurp it.

Nobody kicks A- like Americans. You cannot lie to us. You cannot make promises that you won’t keep. You cannot have what we died for.

Eternal vigilance is the price for Freedom. Let us all be vigilant in the days ahead.

Actually, I'm feeling a little full right now. Just had a Del Taco #6 lunch meal. Love the Del Scorcho sauce.

Sorry... how should I be feeling again?

John McCain losing
is hardly the kind of thing
for comparing with

Kennedy's murder.
You know the Left likes laughing
at us on the Right.

In the last few days
we've had some post here that make
the Left seem balanced.

I’m in!

The only way you can count me out though is by embracing Saul Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals” as has been discussed on other threads on FR. There’s some organizational skills that are universal across different ideologies, no problem with looking at those and no problem with learning how to counter his “Rules”, but Alinsky’s core beliefs are Marxist, as he was. It’s wrong to make a pact with the devil in order to win an election.

It felt like someone reached into your chest and ripped out your heart — as if someone had just stabbed you in the gut.

Personally, I feel like I was kicked in the nuts by a lunatic donkey, and... I was! Just wonder what the crazy donkey’s gonna do next, so I guess I’ll have to tune in here over the next four years to find out. Hope they don’t abolish/abrogate the First Amendment.

Actually, I didn't feel that way. I felt energized, knowing that the Right once again had a common purpose and a chance to put overselves back on track after the failure or Compassionate Conservatism and whatever it was that McCain saw as his guiding principles.

The road will be hard and may be long, but it's akin to tempering steel - a moment in the fire refines and hardens the character for the fight.

(choke! gurgle! HAAAAAA!) Mate, if that isn’t the HELL-FUNNIEST thing I’ve read since I lost my supper the other night... beautiful graphic prose! You are to be congratulated! I close my eyes and I can just picture it!

Lunatic Donkey! Tee-hee-hee!

FreePers, want a quick pick me up? Go on YouTube and type in the words “1980 Election” and then “1984 Election.” Great to see the liberal TV newsmen try to “explain” the historic landslides of Ronald Reagan. Try it. This is a dream that could happen again. It has cheered me up quite a bit.

Why would someone think we are "going"? The only place I am going is for my 30:30 if I see the lying jerks from the McCain campaign that are trashing Sarah.

I wouldn't mind seeing some of the FR Sarah bashers going, BUT....after spending more that two years with certain FReepers trying to censor my posts, I don't try to shut anyone up (I WILL try to show them the error of their ways)...speech is still free on FR.
