Congratulations? [Expletive Deleted by Mod]

There is an American habit of congratulating our opponents when we lose. And it’s appropriate when we have been bested in an equal contest. But when we have been cold cocked by our opponents and kicked to the curb by their friends, congratulations are the actions of a whipped cur.

For me, in this race, congratulations are bullshit. Moreover, I have no intention of being a good loser. Show me a good loser, and I’ll show you a loser.

Unless we didn’t mean what we said.

Obama and his friends told us that if we opposed him we were racists. And that was a big part of his appeal: he’s black. A large part the people who voted for him did so because he’s black and that’s no basis for congratulations. That’s not something we can be proud of.

Obama’s minister, friends and associated were racist, thugs and terrorists, but the MSM, the organs that were supposed to vet our candidates for us determined that these were not links that were worthy of inquiry. Instead, we were treated to the clothing bills of the Republican Vice Presidential candidate. That’s not something we can be proud of.

The Obama campaign promised 95% of the American people tax cuts. And impossibility when 95% of the American people don’t pay taxes. You can bet that this had an impact on the election, but the MSM did not send its truth squads out to report this lie. Instead we were treated to speculation that Sarah Palin’s child was really her daughter’s. That’s not something we can be proud of.

Agree completely.
I hope FR doesn’t split into two camps those who still want to play footsy with our enemies, Leftists, and those who are willing to get down and dirty to fight to save this country.

There has always been that wing of conservatives who maintain that we can’t stoop to their level. They are winning because they don’t mind fighting on the ground. They are winning because they cheat. I’m not saying we need to cheat. But we need to stop trying to be so above it all, reach across the aisle, make nice.

They hate us. They want to turn the US into a soviet-style state. If others don’t want to get their hands dirty now, their hands will be dirty later when they’re digging ditches for the State.
_________________________________________

If FR divides into two camps, so be it.
I don’t intend to tuck tail and skulk away.

I have never lied or cheated in presenting what Obama is/has done.
You don’t have to lie. The evidence is all there in black and white.

McCain ‘reaching across the isle’ and tryig to ‘make nice’ is what lost this election to the Marxist/Muslim.
Declaring to the American voter that Obama is ‘a decent family man who is not to be feared’ was a fatal mistake.

Continue to fight:

Look at the much-hated polls. They were spot on. Not only were the polls accurate, but projections like the one at fivethirtyeight.com were 100% accurate. Voter fraud doesn’t show up in polls. In fact, that’s one way of detecting it. If there had been any significant voter fraud, the polls would not have been DEAD ON. Sorry, that’s just common sense.

If there is one good thing to come out of this, it will hopefully be that once and for all FReepers will not spend such enormous amounts of time and energy trying to convince each other that "The polls are wrong!", or, "The polls just CAN'T be right!", or, "They're just trying to suppress the turnout!". We did that in '06 and we got slaughtered. We did it this year and we got slaughtered. We got the turnout. It wasn't suppressed. The problem was, many more of them voted for the 'Rats than we expected. We turned out "our" voters (red districts) and maybe up to a third of them voted for Obomba. Why? They didn't like what they were hearing from us, and/or what they've seen over the past 8 years.

We can't waste time fooling ourselves. We've got to have the common sense to see it like it is and tell it like it is. This is two elections in a row where the voters have blown conservatives/Republicans out of the water. Like it or not, we have to understand that the 'Rats have found a winning message, and people are responding to it. We have to come up with one from our side or we're going to be out of power for another 20-40 years.

Right you are. We need a Muscular Conservative policy. We need a leader above elected politics to take it to them, someone who can articulate and organize. Someone who can hold the alleged Republicans feet to the fire and say, “If you want office, pass our tests as a Conservative, or be gone”.

The left will not be able to handle a real war of words, calling them what they are, calling them out.

We have been too nice for too long. We probably lost our country for the foreseeable future Tuesday night. I want it back, but I will be dammed if I ever support another RINO, or those that do. That whole tree of Liberty thing...

I agree totally. Now, polls can be wrong, but declaring them wrong simply because they contain results we don't like isn't helpful.

I heartily recommend going through the archives at FiveThirtyEight.com. This site was attempting to project the winner based on current polls (i.e. not "if the election were held today" but "when the election is held on Nov. 4th"). Along the way, Nate Silver posted a lot of useful tutorials on how polls work and why they do what they do. The site was pro-Obama, but it gained a great deal of respect because when it came to the numbers, it didn't spin them at all.

I think that if we were better educated about the mechanics of polling, as a group, there would have been a more measured response to them here.

I agree with your POV entirely.

Yep. The election was not close enough to simply yell “they cheated!” and explain it away.

What we have to do is look, really and carefully look at how Obama’s people did it. How they got grass roots support. Why his message worked.

We need to look at what we do, how we do it, and why our message didn’t resonate with the voters. If people come out in huge numbers but aren’t voting for us, we need to know why. We need to understand why. We need to not wring our hands and learn how to do what we need to do better than they did.

And we also need to realize the control of the white house usually changes after a two term president. We needed a wonder candidate to break through that normative truth, and we got McCain. Just maybe it was a case of the deck was stacked big time against us winning and that added an intangible to Obama’s hand. But nonetheless, we need to stop demonizing, see him for what he is and how he did it, and learn from our mistakes.

If we don’t, we won’t win again.

Well, it's clear that playing the nice guy, the gracious loser, the go-along-to-get-along gambit, isn't getting us much. We play the "nice guys" and the 'Rats beat us to a bloody pulp. What good does that do?

We had our chance at bat and we struck out. We had the Presidency for eight years, and 75% of that time we had the Congress. We didn't do the things that got a majority of the people aligned so as to give us another chance in power. We're out.

Now we're the team playing the field. We're on defense. It's our job now to strike the 'Rats out. Politically, that means opposing them at every step, throwing as much in their way as possible, making them take it on themselves for all of the things they want to do. If they succeed and make things better, they'll get the credit. If they fail, which I hope they do, miserably, then they'll get the blame. And we should put it all on them. Undermine Obomba and the 'Rats at every opportunity. Belittle and ridicule them. Blame them for everything that goes wrong. Call them liars and buffoons (which they are) right on the floors of the House and Senate (let them censure us, to hell with them anyway). That's what they've done to us, and it worked.

Hey, Mr. “Know it all”...

We do not live in a DEMOCRACY…

WE LIVE IN A CONSTITUTIONAL REPRESENTATIVE REPUBLIC.

However, since all the MSM “know it alls” constantly regurgitate the socialist mantra that the United States is a “Democracy” ... Well then, I guess I know where your education comes from.

These two forms of government: Democracy and Republic, are not only dissimilar but antithetical, reflecting the sharp contrast between (a) The Majority Unlimited, in a Democracy, lacking any legal safeguard of the rights of The Individual and The Minority, and (b) The Majority Limited, in a Republic under a written Constitution safeguarding the rights of The Individual and The Minority; as we shall now see.

Whatever. We live in a democratic republic (and now a Democratic republic, as well).

The point you are making is academic and contributes exactly nothing to the discussion.

These two forms of government: Democracy and Republic, are not only dissimilar but antithetical.

There's a huge difference between the two, and the Framers deliberately chose a Republican form of government.

Strange that Mr. Know It All can't seem to grasp this.

"So, basically we have elected our first affirmative action president.

I believe it was actually at least a "three-fer";

1) The first AA Prez

2) The first Muslim Prez

3) The first Marxist Prez.
