UTICA, New York - As Election Day nears in the U.S. Presidential race, Democrat Barack Obama has increased his lead to 7.1 points over Republican John McCain, up from a 5.7 point advantage in yesterday's report, the latest Reuters/C-SPAN/Zogby daily tracking poll shows.

Pollster John Zogby: "Barack Obama is where he needs to be and John McCain is not. In a multi-candidate race, assuming the minor candidates can win around 2%, 51% can win. Obama holds the groups that he needs and continues to hold a big lead among independents and his base. McCain seems to be holding his base without expanding it or moving into Obama's territory. A reminder: we will have another release based on polling through midnight Monday out early Tuesday."

If it’s monday O is up. Since Oct this has been the pattern. Each week except 1 , this has been the case. So what. What is the value of a weekend poll?

I guess Zogby gets thrown in there with Gallup and Pew in the “all credibility lost while pimping for the Messiah” crowd......

Have you noticed that never is a Republican allowed to be ahead in these polls. The only two ways a poll is reported is with a strong Democrat lead, or “too close to call.”

That's how the 1980 election was. The GOP crushed the Dems and took back the senate, but every race was called “very close” by the press.

When Jon Engler won in Michigan, the press acted stunned. They expect to win all the time because of their massive propaganda apparatus.

I'm not saying McCain will win, but the press was reporting double digit Clinton leads against both Bush one and Dole.

i knew the final polls were going to miraculously show Obama at 50 percent or higher... this is the number everyone says he has to be in order to win... it’s all artificial, i’m sure...

I doubt that Zogby even polls at all. He threw that out there to get attention, and it worked.

_____________

Well that makes it easy then doesn’t it? Just add 11 or 12 to McCain and you’ve got an accurate result.

Just remember that Zogby said that Kerry was going to get 315 electoral votes in 2004. That was his final call.

This fool needs to be put in a rubber room with babbling Dan Ratherbiased.

At least the Soviet people understood that Pravda was pure propaganda.

In order for the math to work, he would have to have had a double digit lead for Sunday polling. I’m not buying it.

Sounds like someone might have contacted him after the "outlier" showing McCain ahead of Obama.

"I'm going to count to three and either your brains or McCain's poll numbers are going to be on the floor."

how is it that people change their mind daily on who they are going to vote for, if we are to believe the accuracry of these polls we have to accept that there is 1 out of 10 voters who change there mind from one day to the next. We would have to believe that for example out of 10 voters, 1 changed their mind one week, then fixed their vote, and then another out of this 10 changed their mind next week and so on, after three weeks we have 3 out of the 10 who flip flopped, and 30 percent uncommitted, How can an election go on for 2 years and there be any uncommitted voter at this stage?

I don’t trust his polling or his predictions.

This is what I trust: Here is the poll that really counts. IBD/TIPP Daily Tracking Poll - Day 21 - The race tightened again Sunday as independents who’d been leaning to Obama shifted to McCain to leave that key group a toss-up. McCain also pulled even in the Midwest, moved back into the lead with men, padded his gains among Protestants and Catholics, and is favored for the first time by high school graduates. Link: http://www.ibdeditorials.com/series13.aspx?src=POLLTOPN - Even more importantly, is the fact that Obama has consistently been under 48% in this poll. This was the most accurate Presidential Poll in 2004.

i heard some expert say to watch the national poll, if Obama is under 50% then McCain has a good chance of winning regardless of how they cook his numbers
