The Democrats' essential argument on Iraq is that Saddam had absolutely nothing to do with Bin Laden. But what this argument overlooks is that Saddam offered Bin Laden safe haven in Iraq in late 1998 and/or 1999 -- the very timeframe during which 9/11 attacks were being planned. In fact, that was the conclusion of the 9/11 Commission Report, although it was all but ignored by the mainstream media.

Don’t I seem to recall that the day after Pearl Harbor the US Congress declared war on Japan and...Germany! And Germany had nothing whatsoever to do with the bombing of Pearl Harbor! Imagine! The audacity of that evil President Roosevelt misleading the American public into believing that Hitler and Tojo were in cahoots over the bombing. Why, they barely knew each other. Had profound religious differences.

In Roosevelt's December 8th day of infamy address he said "A state of war has exisred between the US and Japan" since the 7th of December.
The US didn't declare war against Germany and Italy until the 11th.
Hussein offered to pay the families of any terrorist $25,000 for each martyred family member. The obvious targets of the attacks were the US and Israel.
But to me it is astounding that the US government formally concluded in the 9/11 Report that Saddam offered Bin Laden safe haven, and yet that finding has been totally ignored by the mainstream media, and largely ignored by the conservative media.
