I'm haven't been a Catholic since college, but sometimes take my elderly mother when my father is too sick to attend. I just tune it all out.

Trying to reinforce his/her/its "coolness quotient", just so the Luciferian in the group doesn't get the wrong idea.

There is no 'major tenet' in the US Constitution that requires the separation of church and state. Outside of the second amendment, not other amendment has been misquoted, misinterpreted, and misrepresented as the first amendment:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

It's quite the opposite from what this DUmmie is claiming. The first amendment guarantees that congress cannot exercise control over any religion. It does not say that those representing a religion are refrained from making political statements. So whether it's this guys' mom's church's pastor, or Jeremiah Wright, the constitution specifically guarantees for them or anybody else the right to speak their minds.

The phrase separation of church and state comes from a letter written by Thomas Jefferson in 1802 to the Danbury Baptists, in which he referred to the First Amendment to the United States Constitution as creating a "wall of separation" between church and state.

My understanding is that Jefferson was afraid the United States would be saddled with a situation similar to the Church of England, which at the time had great political influence and where the monarch is also the head of the church. However, while the phrase ‘separation of church and state’ has since been use by politicians and judges alike, the fact remains that it’s Jefferson’s interpretation of the first amendment as it relates to the role of religion in politics, and that the responsibility to refrain from mixing the two remains with the government.

I think even Jefferson would find that restricting a church leaders’ ability to speak about political issues, especially as they relate to the religion’s belief system, morals and ethics (i.e. abortion), would be an infringement of their first amendment right to free speech.

I realize most FReepers are familiar with this, but in case there are any DUmmie lurkers around, they can use the education, as they didn’t receive it in their government indoctrination camps. :-D

Don't forget to sue all the churches that teach the social gospel or liberation theology or invite Dems to speak etc

Ouch! That had to leave a mark!

Thanks for the offer, but I don't believe in any religion. In fact I belive that God hates religion.

Uh, then why did He establish His Church on Earth, DUmmie? I mean it's right there in His Words in the Bible (And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.).

But, you don't believe the Bible, do you? But you believe in God (judging by your statement)? If so, then how can you be sure the Bible isn't God's Holy Word to us humans? Huh?

For you to threaten the church's income, and rudely at that, reflects a great deal of intolerance on your part. No sensible lawyer is going to take up a case that's suing a church for attempting to politically persuade its congregation. Most people have the sense to leave if they don't like something. Churches rely on donations for sustainability, by threatening to take away their tax exemption its almost as if you're snubbing this particular church for freedom of speech, which is another major tenet of the United States Constitution.

Well said, Lousy Freeper Troll. I might also add that if donations are taxed, that reduces the ability of that church to minister to the poor, the infirm, and those having other problems, which is one of the primary duties of the Church, in general.

Actually, I hope that you realize that you're on the wrong side before the day that you actually meet the REAL Lord.

I dropped this note into the collection basket at my Mom's church today

[First time you dropped anything into a church collection basket.]

A note in the collection basket is a great idea. I hope others will follow suit at churches where this happens.

[Why don't you just drop Obama campaign material into church collection baskets so as to alienate the entire flock?]

NEWS FLASH!! Another DUmmie goes to church.

What, exactly, was said?

[You won't get a direct answer to that question from the note-dropping DUmmie.]

All your collections belong to Uncle Sam!

Don't forget to sue all the churches that teach the social gospel or liberation theology or invite Dems to speak etc

[LOUSY FREEPER TROLL!!!]

I've never seen a single Republican ever speak from the pulpit of any church. Dims - well, that is a different story.

Put a McCain sign on the front lawn of the church, take a photo, and send it to the media and the IRS. That "evidence" added to enough complaints could have an effect. Probably not in time for this election, but for the future.

[Great idea. Falsely frame the church by planting fake evidence.]

Don't forget to take pictures of all the BOWEL Movement signs inside the church.

The only part of the United States Constitution the DUmmies understand is what the liberal judges want us to believe.

I don’t think he wrote the note, and I highly doubt he was even sitting in the Church. I bet he was playing Halo in his Mommy’s basement.

The church does not have the right to tell parishoners how to vote, or even what criteria to use when voting.

This little adolescent DUmmie is mistaken, a church can make known to it's parishioner's what criteria to use when evaluating a candidate without violating it's tax exemption status. It can't tell anyone who to vote for, but if I am interpreting the tax code correctly it can inform it's people of the candidates positions on the issues.

I'll take a wild stab and guess that this note had as much to do with the sermon, as the football commentary on FOX this past Sunday. It's easy to build up a straw man, then knock it over. It's even easier to do it anonymously with a passed note.

Typical Chip-on-the-shoulder POS looking for a fight. Sooner or later, he'll pick one with the wrong person. Lots of influential people attend church on Sunday...local police, district attorneys, judges, politicans. Might make his pitful existence pretty darn miserable. "Excuse me sir, you didn't come to a complete stop at that sign. And, I clocked you doing 37 in a 35." "Oh, you need a building permit for that addition on to your parent's basement? That'll take awhile....also, let me call the tax assessor."

It's fine and dandy to walk around stomping on people's feet....just be prepared when someone stomps back.

A major tenet of the United States Constitution is separation of church and state, and you have crossed that clearly defined boundary of separation.

Another clueless twit that has no idea what is in the Constitution.

He obviously thinks the Separation of church and state clause is right between abortion and tax cuts to welfare recipients.

OTOH - I was told one time that the only Consitution which expressly mentioned a separation of church and state was that of the former USSR.

DU and their “real life “ stories crack me up.

Of course most of the stories they tell are complete lies. they invent them to impress their fellow dummies and make some lame political point, much like a dog bringing in a dead animal to impress its owner.

A critical reading of them shows that almost all are fabrications and are perfectly pat stories. Every now and then, even DU members will express doubt (only to be smacked around by others for not believing)

I think this was one. She was even prepared with an excuse as to why she “lowered herself” to step foot in a church. (A real person would not be making excuses for why they were in the church), yet didn’t seem fit to even paraphrase what the horrible thing the preacher said.

She lied. this was her dead animal brought in the house to impress everyone.

Oh brother, no wonder I have experienced several "crises of faith" ... I love Catholicism, but not what the existing patriarchal system has done to this beautiful faith.

Huh? The EXISTING patriarchal system? These people are just simply beyond stupid.
