Who is Howard Kurtz and what did he do/say and when did he do/say it?

Another part of what is making them absolutely "nuts" is that while they are lecturing and admonishing us for "warming" to Sarah (as they did with Reagan) they are incredulous over how a hick from the sticks with no sophistication, such as they, can continue to charm and guile the American public.
Unfortunately, they are the "Emperors with no clothes" as they have dropped all pretense of being "one of us" and now have pole vaulted atop their own Mt. Olympus' to slander, diminish, threaten and warn us, "the great unwashed" as to our fate, should we choose one of us instead of "one of them."

Nice article. All of it makes sense.
“If youre 45 or so, and have just made it, and perhaps have a couple of kids who want to go to college, its going to cause grey hairs and ulcers.”
That could be, if your kids “must” go to Harvard, Columbia, or some other very expensive school. But I’m sure Howie would have no trouble sending his children to a state school.

I love that line it makes me envision a pirate ship ...

I can tell you this much. If the MSM still really mattered, a second stringer like Kurtz wouldn’t be the media commentator.

It sure is fun to watch. This is what happens to elites. They always end up talking to each other, lose sight of the big picture, and then find that the rest of the world doesn’t care what they have to say.

One of Reagan's greatest strengths was his ability to circumvent the MSM and talk directly to the American people. The MSM hated him for it.
McCain and Palin need to stop giving interviews, particularly to the national media. No one in the MSM has any interest in hearing what either McCain or Palin has to say. They only want to try and make McCain and Palin look bad, to make themselves look good to their MSM peers. It is truly like watching 14 year old girls fighting to raise their pecking order at a high school cafeteria.
Spend the rest of the campaign speaking to crowds of supporters at campaign stops across the country.

But there is one more, and, as far as I can tell, little discussed, element to the story: and that is the human dynamic. Put yourself in the shoes of a reporter for the New York Times or The Washington Post. He or she has worked hard for many years to reach the top of a particular hill. And just when he gets there, he finds that the hill is a much less important one than it was before.
Yup.
