Sarah Palin: The One We've Been Waiting For
8/29/08 | Self

Posted on 08/29/2008 6:03:49 AM PDT by Martellus

In her inaugural speech as Alaska’s 11th Governor, Sarah Palin said: “More government is not the answer. . . Government can’t make you happy, it can’t make you healthy, it can’t make you a productive member of society. Government’s role is to provide the tools.”

With those words she defined herself as a conservative. Whether she is in the mold of Reagan or Goldwater or Buckley doesn’t matter, for Sarah Heath Palin seems to be headed for her own destiny and unique mark upon the American political landscape.

During the recent primaries, whenever Mrs. Clinton started to stumble, bumble or tumble, she was never humble. She would usually throw out the charge of sexism to explain her precipitous drop in a particular state’s poll or actual election outcome. To wit, many males would respond by saying that they had no problem voting for a woman, just not THAT woman.

I was once asked what female I would vote for if she were on the ballot and I answered Gov. Palin of Alaska. To my befuddled liberal tablemates who never heard of her, it sounded like I made up a name to show I wasn’t a knuckle-dragging troglodyte. But to conservative friends she was a comfortable name sitting on the bench waiting to go into the game. A natural.

When I came to my senses after voting for James Earl Carter in the first presidential election I was old enough to vote in, I was moved by Gov. Reagan’s ease of communicating never-before heard conservative principals. Growing up in Chicago they were alien concepts. Government is not the solution to your problems but the cause?? What was he smoking?

But there was something about his persona that made me keep listening. He was always smiling. Not that rehearsed, frozen comic-book grin that so many politicians have. He really seemed happy. Happy with life, with America, with himself. Unlike Carter who was always frowning and looked miserable. Jackie Mason had a funny bit about that election when he said that Carter was always talking about the deficit, the deficit, the deficit... to which Reagan had the perfect response: “ ‘There is no deficit!’ and smiled as he got on his horse and rode away.”

Sarah Palin has that quality of deep contentment and joy that comes across the tv screen. She is the opposite of the liberal feminists who come across as bitter, self-loathing, male-hating political apparatchiks seeking power for its own sake.

Yes, she’s the anti-Hillary. And the libs know it. That’s why they are afraid of her. She represents all that they hate. A woman that made it on her own, without riding her husband’s coattails. A family centered person, a pro-life mom who chose to have a Downs-Syndrome baby instead of aborting that precious life. A Second Amendment rights advocate and NRA member. A hunter, a pro-energy independence/pro-drilling Governor, someone who doesn't want to rely on the federal government for handouts. Someone who is happy with herself, who loves her family and her country.

If Senator McCain chooses her he will throw sand into the eyes of his political enemies. Enough to momentarily blind them, and to momentarily lift the scales off the eyes of many who, like me, were once blinded to the truth of the American Ideal.

Maybe we need a fresh face like Sarah Palin to hold back the liberal Jackals that seek to nip at the very foundations of this great nation. Then again, maybe we just need a conservative with the charm of Reagan, the fortitude of Goldwater and the mental acuity of Buckley that also happens to be a beautiful woman! It can’t hurt...

I agree that we may be hearing a lot of disinformation ... probably put out by the McCain team to keep up the suspense. Almost everyone has said they are not going to be in Ohio or said it’s not them.

Hmmm ...

Since the possibility of McCain dying in office is REAL, he had better pick someone with YOUTH (<50) who has GRAVITAS, International Experience, Domestic Experience, and grasps multinational ECONOMICS! Forget whether or not they wear panties and use tampons! You better have someone with balls, female or not!

PMSNBC still hasn’t taken off their “Obama ‘08” kneepads. I’ll trust what they have to say, well, NEVER.

I just want it to be Sarah, and will be so upset if not true.

Palin just had a baby in April. A special needs baby. A baby that needs a mother more than we need a VP. Not to mention her other four children who need a mother.

“Has anyone seen her in Alaska in recent hours or is that just the story being put out?”

ABC News is trying to debunk the story by saying she is still in Alaska, but they don’t have anything thing that backs up their claim, other than a Palin spoksperson they talked to last night, who said she has no plans to go to Ohio.
I think she arrived in Ohio early this morning. The same web site that leaked the Biden pick also is also saying this morning it is Palin.

..."and get out of the way!"

I finished the statement as I'd like to hear it.

Alternatively, “Sarah is hot, Hillary is hot-flashes”.

I am crying, I didn’t know I would. I am old enough that this is very dear to me, to have a good woman on the ticket.

This 6 foot 2 inch guy was fighting back tears during her speech too. Her goodness is so apparent. I can’t believe how excited I am about this. There’s a reasonable chance this woman could go on to become President. She could be our Margaret Thatcher - but a very American one with 5 kids and who’s a self-described “hockey mom”.
