The ball is in Senator McCain's court. If he wants to reach out to conservatives, as he promised at C-PAC, he will earn conservative votes. Otherwise, many will stay home or vote 3rd party.

I won’t vote for mccain if he chooses Hunter for VP even tho Hunter is my choice for presidential candidate. I would then question Hunter’s judgement on accepting the offer

Should Obama become Pres more abortions will occur. Not just for the next four years either, he will load the court.
Don't throw away your vote.

McCain is as seriously considering a pro abort candidate for VP as he was considering being Kerry’s running mate in 2004. He is just having fun tweaking the Christian Right.

Leave the drama to Obama. Let McCain pick his running mate first. Sheesh!
To: Sun
He isn't going to be chosen.
He is a pretty good Gov, but not too conservative.
He is off on offshore oil drilling.
And, no secret here in Florida, He's GAY!

Okay, then don't vote for McCain if he picks a pro-choice running mate. But do realize the entire opposition party is pro-choice, so don't help their people get elected by your inaction.

I won’t vote for him either if he pulls that nonsense. He may think that will make him more palatable to independents, and it may well do so. But, he will have handed the election to Obama.
McCain better snap into compliance. He was so desirous of “his turn” and now he has it. He has but a few positions on issues that differ from Obama enough for make a difference.
He can ill afford to lose one of those positions. Electing Ridge, Crist or even Romney would do just that. McCain doesn’t strike me as particularly smart but he does have experience and is exponentially better than Obama. But then, Obama has rubbed elbows with racists, radicals and commies for nearly all of his life. He is a Marxist who would be dangerous for our country so that isn’t saying a great deal about McCain. I am resigned that whatever choice McCain makes for VP, is likely going to be a poor one.

I plan on calling on Monday. Here's a lady who called reporting to Rush on Friday:
RUSH: There's something going on with the McCain campaign here as the selection process dwindles down for the vice presidency, and it looks like McCain advisors are laying the groundwork for either picking a Democrat, Joe Lieberman, or a pro-choice Republican to further McCain's move to the center and the left to pick up disaffected Obama voters; 'cause they're just assuming that those of us in the base will show up and solidify -- in fact, they think that's already happened. But they think we're going to show up and solidify because of our just fear and unacceptable attitudes toward Barack Obama, the Lord Messiah Most Merciful. I think they're misjudging if they think they can put a pro-choice candidate on the ticket. McCain's telling us that he's going to go out and make sure that he picks the right kind of judges for the Supreme Court.
Well, now, one of the definitions that the conservative base has for the right kind of judge on the Supreme Court is not somebody who's going to vote to affirm Roe v. Wade if it ever comes up. So we're going to start doubting all kinds of things. If he's going to go with a pro-choice -- or even a Democrat who is good on the war but has just as liberal a voting record as Chris Dodd does, if he's going to go one of those two routes -- then it's going to be reasonable for us to start doubting what he has said and promised about the right kind of judges on the courts. So the fur is going to fly on this one. The last time it flew was when somebody suggested that McCain might put a Democrat on the ticket. You know, it's one thing for Democrats, for our enemies to say, "Hey, why don't you pick one of us on your ticket." It's another thing for our side to put the spear in our own heart.

Couldn’t agree more with your comments. McCain needs to pick a conservative as a running mate. “Do no harm” should be the words that guide him in his selection.

I will not support any currently pro-abortion candidate on any ticket in any capacity.
In the case of those who have converted to a pro-life position, I welcome the conversion. At the same time, it is wise to check if they are lying.
I realize that politicians have no incentive to lie. /sarc.

Otherwise, many will stay home or vote 3rd party. The time for petulant, childish behavior is between elections and during the Primaries. During General Elections this behavior supports and elects the opposition. That is unless you think obama will make for a better choice.

Then don’t. No one’s holding a gun to your head.
But I’m sure you’ll enjoy the pro-choice policies of the Obama administration much more than you would those of a McCain administration.
And I’m sure you’ll enjoy the Supreme (and federal) court opinions of the Obama administration much more than you would those coming from McCain appointees.
The “choice” - this time - is yours.

bttt. Crist’s marrying a millionaire and he’s trying to keep a low profile. If McCain picks Crist, I will not vote. Crist is as phony as Barack Obama. Unemployment in Fla is 6.6%. Don’t get me started.

McCain is for stem cell research as well. Should you be voting for McCain, since you are such a “purist”?
