Somewhere in between the stories about Americans staying home due to high gas prices, shortening their grocery lists to avoid paying too much at the register, fighting serious illnesses or dealing with crumbling families, there is a real tragedy being wholly overlooked by society: Since the Bush tax cuts, rich liberals have been grieving and despairing over the fact that Uncle Sam isn’t taking more of their money.
One example of this is Chris Kirkpatrick, former ‘N Sync star and contestant on the CMT reality show Gone Country. Asked about his finances, Kirkpatrick assured us of his financial comfort, saying:
“I still have lots of money, I am good. Actually, the president made it easier for rock stars because anybody who was above that tax limit got a break, which isn't really fair, but that's just the way it goes.”
That evil, evil George W. Bush. How dare he cut our taxes? We want to pay more!
Poor Kirkpatrick and his Hollywood and Manhattan friends. They just want – nay, demand – that they be able to pay more of their own money to the government so they can feel better about themselves.

Moron! The entire federal income tax rates were reduced. Everyone with a paycheck got a tax reduction.
Heck; even people who don’t work got a tax cut.
Why would they want to pay more taxes? The joy of socialism is spending other people’s money. Neither the rich nor anybody else would waste their own money on crazy socialist programs.
I think that the 1040 should include a line giving the taxpayer the opportunity to "donate" money to the Treasury....just like the Massachusetts state tax form does.
Of course,stats in ultra-leftist....sorry,progressive and compassionate...Massachusetts show that about 200 returns a year have that "donation" box checked.In a state of 6 million progressives.
I had that arguement witrh one of my buddies. When he said he didn’t need a tax cut, I told him to take out his check book and write a check. Odd, he wouldn’t do it.
Then I asked him if he took his mortgage deduction. Why, I asked. if he doesn’t need a tax break, would he take a dedustion that a renter does not get.
He is, as most liberals, all talk and no action.
I always say, “Don’t write a check with your mouth that your ass can’t cash!”
I would like to see such a box on the 1040 then ask the liberals how much extra they gave each year.
No tax write-offs - just plain and simple sending the money in.
Anyone got that list? Write it out on the back of a postage stamp and send it to me.
What they want is to a) deflect envy, and b) keep their money. How they accomplish that is by pretending to be on the side of those that envy them. They do it because it works. Talk is cheap. Warren Buffet is the master at this. He talks about raising his taxes but does everything he can to avoid paying any. He claims to support the Democrats but donates next to nothing to elect them. And the Democrats think he’s a great. He’s completely off their attack radar.
Exactly.As I said,in a state of 6 million liberals only about 200 returns checked the donation box here in MA.And I'd bet the clothes on my back that neither Teddy's nor John F'ing Kerry's returns were among those 200.
I too had one of those talks with a liberal friend on mine. He was showing me pictures of his family’s vacation (wife, 3 kids) to the Grand Tetons. I asked whre he got all the money and he said he got $5K back in taxes. I told him that he can “thank GWB” for that vacation. He goes full BDS on me. I ended up kicking him out of my backyard and sent him on his way.
They should just tax all the registered Rats double.

He's a dope and a hypocrite. There's no way in hell this guy doesn't have at least one accountant handling his mo and taking every tax deduction he can possible take. He must think we're as stupid as he is.

Hey Jerk, if you want to PAY more -- you can!! You don't have to pay just what is owed, you won't get arrested if you feel quilty about your riches and pay MORE taxes.
However, the AVERAGE American wants lower taxes!!
Throughout recorded history there have been various notable individuals who have risen above egomania and self-occupaton, and clarified what honesty is, that is, to be honest with one's self. Buddha, Christ, St Francis, Shakespeare, and a host of classic writers, Camus, Conrad, HG Wells. All the same message - to face your own values. Sometimes it manifests as a "religion" sometimes as a literary classic.
For those who cannot face themselves, but maneuvered to have to do so, the psychological defense is what is so often today called liberalism, although leftism is a more appropriate assignation. And when such occurs they go assertively ballistic, e.g. Nancy Pelosi.
There is a definitive treatise, The Origin of Consciousness and the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind, Julian Jaynes. It clarifies that there are human beings unable to objectively evaluate themselves, they are without conscious awareness of themselves and of the ramifications of their actions, and thus civilly function only through topdown authority, that is extortion. This is Leftism. The converse is real religion, or enlightenment, and it definitely takes significant strength of mind (over ego).
Jaynes says, and it becomes quite obvious, that the ancient Greeks, the acknowledged basis of "western civilization," were the ones who broke out of bicameralism, and first looked at themselves consciously; thus the theatre, philosophy, science, for which they are known. The theatre thing is especially obvious, Euripedes and the boys consciously created an activity that led one to look at one's self and others objectively.
Today, bicameralism reads as the Left, the massive authoritative manipulation of human minds. And I'm not sure we're ever to globally overcome it. The forefathers of America saw it, the Reformation was a historical breakthrough, George Bernard Shaw wrote the breakthrough as the "Superman," Paine discussed it in "Common Sense", etc.
I would venture the people who follow Obama, like the Jews after a Savior to come, are striving for this. But it sure doesn't look to me like he's the illuminating path.
