In perhaps the most biased, incorrect, misleading and blatantly disgusting piece of journalism this campaign season, the Global Edition of the New York Times - The International Herald Tribune has published an article entitled...

They are wrong!!!!!!
The NYT hasn’t printed a word of truth in 40 years.
The referenced article has been posted a couple of times here on FR.
My question is does anyone know how much money goes to the states that have drilling? Many years ago, Alaska was giving good money to its’ residents. I don’t know what happens now.
California is hurting and I just wonder how that works and if it would get money and jobs to clear up the mess made by the libs.
A couple of years ago, a FReeper from Alaska mentioned that they were receiving annual checks. The source was credible so I would agree that it could be good for any state that had a policy like that. It might not be such a windfall in California due to the high population, but I think any little bit would help with that God awful states government mess.
Don’t ask the sheeple in Texas what has happened to the oil money that has poured into our state coffers the past two years. We never find out that information from our public serpents. We just hear how our inadequate roads and crumbling bridges can’t be repaired because TXDOT is so strapped for funds.
It’s called the Permanent Fund Dividend.
It is a program still going.
That is vile, even my MSM standards.
*BY* MSM standards. sheesh
"Like everyone else in the media, we are totally in the tank for Senator Obama..."
That vile rag is the “Gold Standard” for most of the MSM.
Sad.
I may have been that Freeper, don’t remember, but Alaskans do receive an annual check based on dividends earned the previous year on a HUGE fund set aside years ago by the oil industry. Don’t know why it wouldn’t work in California or Iraq..........
I just sent the following letter to the editor of the IHT:
Dear editor:
Your headline over the Brian Knowlton article, “McCain joins Obama on offshore drilling” is totally backward. McCain has been asserting for the past six weeks that he could support legislation that would permit offshore oil drilling. In reality, Obama has joined McCain on offshore drilling.
Thanks. I checked it out and got this:
# How much was last years dividend?
The 2007 dividend was $1654.
The amount to the state budget must be huge. Arnold should look into this for the CA budget crisis. I don’t care about checks to the people, but to the budget and employment help.
Actually, while I lived there, the state could not use the dividend for anything. It was set up for the residents of Alaska.
I will ping Right Whale for confirmation of this and whether the state makes anything from the PFD.
"All the News That's Spit!"
On the California issue, the illegals would benefit from
the payments, you know the Sanctuary City's would see to
that. That's why I say California is a lost cause.
Sadly the good have to suffer because of the illegal trash.
Does anyone know just when McCain called for offshore drilling? If possible a link to it so I can rebuff what I will surely hear in the next day or two.
A day after Senator Barack Obama said he could support broad energy legislation to permit offshore oil drilling, McCain used a time machine to go back in time several months and announce his support for offshore oil drilling, thereby attempting to steal Obama’s thunder. Thankfully, the NYT is not letting McCain get away with it!
