"...There is now only one option left to keep congress from going on vacation. The President has a Constitutional Power to force congress into a special session to address energy legislation. The President can help his own dismal approval numbers and lame-duck status, by taking charge and forcing congress to go back to work." Please GWB! Do this, do it now!!!

They are going to hear about this from their constituents in their home districts during their little vacation - that is, if some of them even have the nerve to show their faces there while they are refusing to allow this matter to even be voted on.

Actually, the best thing that could happen for this country is for Congress to just stay on vacation ‘til after the election. And beyond, AFAIC.
Everything they’ve done up to this point has only made things worse. No reason tho think they’re gonna do any better.
Absolutely nothing good is going to come from the worst Congress with the most incompetent Congressional Leadership this country has ever seen.

I hope he does call the Congress back to session to deal with the oil problem but I laugh every time when someone says that President Bush is a lame duck. He is no lame duck but the contrary is true. If he was then we would have lost Iraq by being forced the defeatist democrat Congress to leave Iraq long time ago in defeat. Instead President Bush with his strong leadership got what he wanted which is an amazing VICTORY in Iraq.
There is nothing called a lame duck President. It all depends on the President whether he wants to be a lame or not duck such a Bill Clinton who was lame duck for 8 years because he did absolutely nothing. A strong President such as President Bush is the most powerful man in the world until the last second when he leaves office.

Nancy Pelosi: “The Republicans MADE me hit my gavel. One of them sneaked behind me, grabbed my arm and yelled ‘This session is adjourned’ in a high falsetto voice. That wasn’t me.”

The lame-duck status isn’t a slam on the president, but historically speaking an President with only months remaining in office, especially with low approval ratings and an opposition controlled congress, is considered to be a lame-duck presidency. He has little legistlative control left as congress can choose to use parliamentary procedures to limit or block debate and bills.
He has a golden opportunity here to overcome that status, show the public that he still is the President, and embarras congressional Democrats.
Again, not a slam at the President, merely a statement on Presidential status at the end of their elected careers.

Even if he does call Congress back in sessions, do you think Pelosi and the other America-haters will actually come back to work? I think they’d just laugh at him, and the media will paint it as the President “bullying” the House.

I remember seeing a YouTube video where the speaker points out all of the vacation and federal holidays that Congress has created for themselves. While I can't remember the exact number, it seemed to me that Congress is only in session about 120 days a year. Then you get some power-hungry, ego maniac with a gavel like Pelosi running the show and she won't even allow debate on one of the most pressing issues of our time. She and Harry need to be tarred, feathered, and run out of town on a rail. Do those two really reflect the way people in CA and NV think? Despicable.
