We Need "Serious" Energy Solutions
New Red Majority ^ | 7/30/08 | trumptman

From House Speaker Pelosi, we learn that any proposal that is conservatie is not worthy of serious debate and is of course a hoax or lie. The Democratic Congress promised an end to expensive $3 gas when they took office and now we have $4 because of their serious debate and non-hoax solutions.

Obama insists that if we changed our spark plugs and inflated our tires, we need not drill.

So I wanted to see some serious, non-hoax solutions and so I go to BarackObama.com to read of how Presumptive President Elect Obama plans to get more energy.

His first proposal... monopoly money....

Im having a big problem with what dems think they can do. Require everyone in the country to buy $70,000.00 battery cars, buy windmills to heat and cool their homes, and walk to work. How much of the US population can afford their plan and who will pay if they cant afford it.
I see a great depression comming.

According to the Obamassiah, if we just make sure our tire pressure is correct, and get "tune-ups" (something not needed on modern auto fuel systems), we could save enough petroleum to equal the amount of reserves on the Continental Shelf. This man is truly a buffoon. At most, keeping proper tire pressure could save about 6 million gallons of gasoline a day, which is drop in the bucket, since we use about 252,000,000 gallons in this country every day. Between Anwar and the Shelf alone we have about 90 billion bbls. Include shale, and we have about 3-5 Saudi Arabias we could exploit. Liquifying coal could add at least another 2 or 3 Saudi-size reserves. The Obamassiah is proving to be a false prophet in red underwear.

Drill, develop shale and tar sands, liquify coal, build nuclear power plants, etc. To turn the Great Plains into a giant wind farm is probably far less practical than any of the above. It would take a huge investment in infastructure and you have the problem of storage (when the winds are blowing strongly) and of no-production during times of calm.

Well, I agree with everything you have mentioned. Also, I think we’d agree that the electrical grid is old, especially in the eastern half of the country. How would you upgrade that and what would you do?

Our utilities and communications infrastructure are givens in this country only as long as they work. I think we’d agree on this.
