It's a cold dark day. A group of stern-looking men and women sit in a conference room and decide what their countrymen should hear and what they shouldn't. "This isn't reflective of the people's wishes," says one member of the panel. "Yes, we'll have to make room for what our leader thinks," says another without batting an eye.
Now you might be thinking I'm describing an event in Iran or the former Soviet Union. Perhaps it's an historical description of a meeting of the Communist Bloc in Mao Tse Tung's China. Sadly, it is none of the above. One day this gathering may take place in Chicago, Springfield or Spokane, Washington. A meeting like this would unfold if those on the left pass something called the Fairness Doctrine...

How they can try and pass this with a straight face as “fair” blows my mind. Sorry Benjamin Franklin. You gave us a Republic if we could keep it; I don’t think we (as Americans) have done a very good job.
It was his position that taxing People at dramatically different rates was "fair". A bureaucrat would pick winners and losers via different "trip-wires" by which tax rates would suddenly elevate, and this long, complicated, agenda-driven taxation scheme was the most "fair".
My position that taxing everyone at the same rate (20%?) would be the most fair was laughed right out of class.
I have my own position on taxation, but a progresive income tax is probably one of the most unfair ways to tax someone. It is after all second on a list of 10 goals in the Communist Manifesto and was loathed by our Founding Fathers. We’re supposed to have equal protection under the law, but hey, the rich don’t “need” their money so what the hell?
Well what can I say?
Even the supporters of the “fairness” doctrine admit that it is targeting certain people.
We will have to write a lot of letters. Only a flood of letters will make the marxists back down on their plan to silence dissent.
Geez louise. The liberals started up a radio network, Air America, to be an opposition voice to conservative talk radio. Why did Air America get such poor ratings? Maybe conservative talkers make more sense to people? Maybe conservative talkers actually discuss issues?
The few times I ever heard Air America, Randi Rhodes shrieked how Bush lied, and “Worst.....President.....Ever”, without giving any reasoning for her point of view. So much for reasonable debate of the issues of the day.
Bill Clinton used to complain that Rush Limbaugh had three hours a day to criticize his administration. Thank God for free speech. Our politicians, of any party or political affiliation, should be subjected to whatever debate or criticism someone wants to put out there.
How is the Fairness Doctrine not eventually going to be fully enacted after the next Congress, in both chambers, truly succeeds in getting many more leftist politicians elected to office? It truly could be a veto-proof majority of socialists and RINOs in the next Congress.
It is the world of double speak, revisionist history, ... etc.
Today the people just let it all go by for the most part. Honestly more attention is paid to the escapades of Brittany, Lindsay, Paris, Pamela, Brad, Angelina, David Hasselhoff etc., than to what is happening in our nation.
Blame the medias for their constant misdirection, the schools for not teaching history, civics, economics, rational thought, etc. all of us for focusing on career, fun, entertainment, sports, partying, no time for the lofty things which many say they can do nothing about anyway so why even bother to know the facts.
We are neck deep and drowning in this philsophy.
WAKE UP AMERICANS OF ALL AGES. PAY ATTENTION. NOW!
I KNOW WE ARE BLIND TO WHAT WE WILL NOT SEE.
No amount of letters will stop them, especially if Obama wins. If he is elected free speech is a goner. Present-day Democrats are really totalitarians who embody George Orwell's horrific prediction:
"If you want a vision of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face - forever."
I agree 100%. I never had a single class in high school that really examined ANY of our founding documents. People quote the Declaration of Independence a lot and they say we should follow the Constitution, but when push comes to shove, they don’t know what’s in either and they certainly don’t seem to care much.
