I have acquired additional information related to my earlier posts today (at my blog) on the subject of Barack Obamas Certification of Live Birth.
My first post on this subject, Obama Birth Certificate, Fake?, included an analysis that I came across by a blogger named Polarik, who concluded based on 20 years of experience in computers, printers, and typewriters that the document provided by the Obama campaign (and published by Daily Kos) was manufactured.
In a subsequent post, Certification of Birth from Hawaii: Wheres the Seal?, I showed a Certification of Live Birth from Honolulu County for Patricia Decosta, which I found posted at Free Republic (thanks to reader shainzona). (And yes, I know its a right wing publication but that does not make the information false).
Here is the document posted by the Obama campaign on its Fight the Smears website as evidence of Obamas birth in Hawaii in 1961:
And here is Ms. Decostas certification:
Now, compare the two documents. Polariks technical analysis notwithstanding, my lay persons eye noticed three differences right away:
1. Ms. Decostas certification displays fold marks, which you might expect to see on a document sent through the mail.
2. The certificate number on Obamas document is blacked out; Ms. Decostas is not.
AND
3. An embossed seal is visible on Ms. Decostas certification; there is no embossed seal on Obamas. (You can see the embossed seal very clearly on the larger image at FR here.)
The Vital Records office in Hawaii has confirmed the following with respect to requests for certified copies of birth certificates:
1. Certifications of live birth are always mailed from the VR office, and never transmitted electronically.
2. Certificate numbers are never blacked out.
AND
3. Certifications will always have an embossed seal.
Try and find a flight from anywhere outside the country to Honolulu that Maw and Paw Obama were on just prior to his birth. Like she would be stupid enough to trust herself to a Kenyan hospital when it was time to give birth when she could do so in an American hospital.
Until you have documentation of that flight you have squat. Proving the BC was fake (even if it is) doesn't prove he was born outside the country. You can't even prove he was involved with this BC.
No doubt they're reading this thread and laughing right now.
Do these birth certificates being from different years cause the differences we see?
NOT SO. She had not resided within the US for 10 years, at least 5 of which have to be AFTER the age of 16.
If it ain't got the Seal, it's NO DEAL!
I posted about this last week. All states certify their birth certificates with an embossed seal and send them in the snail mail. Obama’s fake is like Dan Rather’s “National Guard Documents.”
“NOT SO. She had not resided within the US for 10 years, at least 5 of which have to be AFTER the age of 16.”

Do you have a source for that please?
If that’s the requirement, she does (not) meet it.
She was only in (American) Hawaii for just under 2 years, since prior to August 1959, Hawaii was not a state.
If she was of typical HS age, she would have been 17 at graduation? That’s one year.
Plus the 2 post-statehood in Hawaii.
That’s not 5.
Bingo! I confirmed with HI that that is exactly what they do.
It was a change from something like “Negro”, which no doubt they used in 1961, to something more PC.
Look at the sample for Patricia DeCosta in the original post. Her mother's race is listed as "Hawaiian Caucasian" (even though her maiden name looks Chinese), and her father's is "White."
Why aren't they the same? Why not "White" and "White" or "Caucasian" and "Caucasian." Could it be that the registrar just wrote down what the couples said and didn't bother with formal labels?
One thing I did hear about birth certificates is that the information the hospital reported and what the birth certificate says may be different. The state or territorial authorities might have cared more about race than the local registrar did.
In any case, yours is a more valid question than people who think that Obama's father was registered as an "Arab" or "Arabian." That doesn't make any sense at all to me. His father was an African, but in no way was he an Arab.
Now that seems significant. Nice find.
You know, some of can chew gum and walk at the same time. Those of you who can’t, I’d suggest they take your advice and only try to do/think about ONE THING at a time.
I’m sorry, do you have something better to do? Are we keeping you from some important business?
It’s probably nothing. But why not put pressure on Obama to authorize a news organization to obtain his birth certificate?
This is rediculous. I have to show my certificate to get a passport, I had to show my kid’s certificates just to get them into sports programs.
Why is Obama keeping his birth certificate a secret?
Why would Hawaii issue certificates with different wording? Why would they use the terms White and Caucasian? Why would they use “African”?
It’s a mystery, mysteries are fun, and every day we beat up on Obama for hiding his Birth Certificate is a day we can make the point that Obama has a penchant for not trusting the American people with the truth.
Hawaii was a US territory long before that. If you're saying Obama was born abroad, then McCain born in the Panama Canal Zone has the same problem.
You may be right. If that is so, someone should have removed the ‘may’ sentence from under the B) subparagrpah and indented properly.
You are a man before your time. (Psst, the hillary fans are reading our posts)
But there would still be a raised seal and signature.
Someone needs a screen capture of Obama’s web site with the form.
When they release the REAL one, we can show they are different, and then we can blast him for putting a fake document on his web site to fool people.
That is actually an excellent point. It could very well be a forgery. But whether the campaign did it, and whether there's something to hide are other questions. The document could very well be the work of some lone nut out there who just wants to see the other side run around and look silly.
It’s certainly curious, why someone would create an apparent fake.
It’s like that Reuters photo from the Israeli airstrike, with the cloned smoke clouds...
Why make a fake?... Something smells fishy.
