Obama Went to Trinity for the Politics. Michelle Went there for the Hate

Stanley Kurtz asks and answers his own Obama question:

Having now left Trinity United Church of Christ, can Barack Obama escape responsibility for his decades-long ties to Michael Pfleger and Jeremiah Wright? No, he cannot. Obama’s connections to the radical-left politics espoused by Pfleger and Wright are broad and deep. The real reason Obama bound himself to Wright and Pfleger in the first place is that he largely approved of their political-theological outlooks.

To be fair to Obama, I don’t believe that he necessarily believes in the bigotry regularly preached from the Trinity pulpit and echoed by the cheers of the packed house. I think that Obama joined Trinity because he needed the political connections that membership could bring him. I seriously doubt that he agrees with the church spiritually, or even on race matters. To be perfectly honest, Obama strikes me as the kind of man who has no deep beliefs at all and who says what he needs to say and joins whereve he needs to join to get to where he wants.

So what convinced him to make Trinity the place where his kids would be steeped in the rancid bigotry of men like Jeremiah Wright, Louis Farrakhan, and Michael Pfleger? I don’t think it was a what at all. It was a who - his wife, Michelle.

Listening to Michelle Obama speak to the adoring crowds, it’s obvious to me that she’d be more at home hooting and hollering at the vapid hate spewed by Jeremiah Wright than she would be as a calm and moderating representative of a candidate who at least has to feign love for her country. She’s not concealed her contempt for America very well. I suspect that she’d feel a whole lot better if she could just crank out a few “God Damn America” hollers at her next campaign rally without having to worry about her dreams of an even more pampered life going down the drain.

Kurtz’ article is worth reading, because he’s done more looking into the poisonous and devlish theology of the Trinity United Church of Christ than nearly the entire MSM rolled up together. We shouldn’t shy away from learning about a candidate’s religious beliefs when he uses them as a reason for us to vote for him. I think, though, that the more you learn about his church, the more you’ll realize that Michelle is the one who mosts finds kinship there.

I think he’s right-on. Despite what the pundits say, I never thought Obama believed a word of Rev. Wright’s hate. Of course the political reason for joining is just as bad, showing he’s willing to prostitute his religious associations for political power.

And his children went there because their parents forced them to attend.

I'd have to agree. It goes a bit beyond Michelle, though. Once Obama went to that church, the people there became "the Black Community" for him, in the way that he identified Jeremiah Wright with the "Community" that he couldn't turn his back on. But if Michelle hadn't liked it, Barack wouldn't have stayed.

"And his children went there because their parents forced them to attend."

If it were a conservative church spewing hate, Child Protective Services would swoop in and take the kids away from the parents.

It’s getting to the point where if the church preaches abstinence, the sin of homosexuality, etc. CPS may try to come knocking (certainly the schools will attempt to “deprogram” your children).

Obama was a Muslim from what I understand until he joined Wrights church. He sat there for 20 years. He believes everything Wright preaches and so does his wife.

A good way to look at it is to picture a candidate sitting in a church who espouses hatred for whites, Jews and the USA because whites have too many unfair advantages. Now picture that candidate is white and the church espouses hatred for blacks Jews and the USA because blacks have too many unfair advantages.

Would you still give the white candidate the pass?

I think that Obama joined Trinity because he needed the political connections that membership could bring him.

The Hate America Express --- Membership Has Its Privileges

This is what I have thought all along. Obama is an empty suit with some powerful ambition. To reach that ambition, he first needed to establish his bonifides the radical left gatekeepers on Chicago's South Side. The message of hate and ignorance didn't bother him at all as long as it got him to the next step on the ladder.

In many ways, he not different than the Clinton's or 90% of the other politicians in this country. Situational philosophy -- expose whatever dogma that will get you ahead. If Obama were from flyover country, he would have pretended to be conservative.

You be fair, I'll be accurate: Hussein Obama has nothing but contempt for his white audiences. Just watch him. He does not like Whitey, not one little bit.

I'm not giving him a pass at all. As in the article, I don't think he's capable of such firm convictions. This was the church in Chicago that he needed to schmooze with in order to get elected there, so he joined. His longevity there is easily explained by his desire to retain his political power. It was a cold, calculated move.

I could be wrong, but that's just how I see it, and I think my view shows him as more dishonest than being a simple racist.

fair enough but simple racism doesn’t require much in the way of convictions.

His writings in his two books out him as a racist. He's screwed in the head because of his poor relationship with his parents. He needs counseling.

I probably shouldn't post here what I think he needs.
