Murdoch: Obama Will Win By Landslide

The man portrayed by the left as evil incarnate is saying Barack Obama will win by a landslide in November.

This isn't supported by the polls at this time, but with more than five months to go, anything can happen. We already know one Murdoch who's hosting overseas fundraisers for Obama, so it wouldn't be a shock if her father jumped on board.

AUSTRALIAN expatriate Rupert Murdoch today predicted a Democratic landslide in the US presidential election against a gloomy economic backdrop over the next 18 months.

Mr Murdoch has yet to endorse a US presidential candidate but considers Barack Obama very promising, the News Corp (parent company of the publisher of NEWS.com.au) chairman said in an interview by two Wall Street Journal reporters at an annual conference for high-tech industry insiders.

News Corp recently acquired ownership of the Journal and its parent company Dow Jones & Co.

"You have got the Obama phenomenon. You have got, undoubtedly, a recession ... The average American is really getting hurt financially and that all bodes well for him (Obama)," Mr Murdoch said.

"You have probably the making of a complete phenomenon in this country," Mr Murdoch said in describing what he predicted will be a sweeping victory for Democrats in November.

The recent special election for a US Congressional seat held by Republicans in Mississippi showed how powerless that party may be in the face of a rising political tide, Mr Murdoch said.
Despite his portrayal as some extreme right-winger by the left, Murdoch is most unpredictable. He was making nice with Hillary Clinton for a couple of years, and could well jump on the Obama bandwagon.
Murdoch is associated with conservative political views but has a reputation for a pragmatic streak in major national races where he has shown a willingness to switch sides when he detects major political changes afoot.
According to the latest Rasmussen numbers, McCain leads Obama 47-43%, but trails Clinton by a point if matched against her.

My husband has a Democrat brother, ex union member. Says he won’t vote for barry, might have voted for Hilary.

I then asked if he would vote McCain if Obama is the Dem candidate.

He laughed out loud. He said “Hell no, besides McCain sounds more like he is running for President of Iraq”.

If McCain and the GOP were smart, which they are not, they need to realize that they have a big problem. This emphasis on Iraq daily by McCain has only highlighted how much like Bush he is.

"You have got, undoubtedly, a recession"

Sorry, but we don't!

Even if Obama wins, which I doubt, is there even 1 expert who believes he will do so by a “landslide”?

Murdoch is spot on.

I was the last person I know who decided that Bush and the GOP were total BS. It took Shamnesty to finally force me to see where the GOP loyalties were placed. I'm embarrassed of all the times I stood up for Dubya as my friends and acquaintances abandoned him.

I won't vote for Obama, but I sure won't ever vote for another Republican for any office.

The GOP doesn't support the conservative ideas that are important to me. In its own way the GOP may be worse than the Rats. Another four years of a GOP hold on the White House would be a disaster.

I think there are a lot of Freepers who now feel as I do. If that is the case, the only way Obama will lose to McLame is if a video of Obama and Osama Bin Laden partying with young naked boys in a cave in Afghanistan turns up on YouTube -- but even that may not be enough given the antipathy I see towards Dubya.

Without a presidential leader, Republicans would be free again to oppose things the base hates, like illegal immigration, earmarks, social programs and higher taxes. Any agreement with democrats amounts to creeping toward socialism. Democrats never creep toward conservatism by offering to trim wasteful spending or to eliminate failed programs. As long as republicans are offering themselves as democrat lite they will fail. Why would anybody settle for a counterfeit socialist when the democrat party offers the real deal?

And McCain is the lesser of 3 evils , so let’s all run down smiling to the voting booth and gleefully vote...

Not smiling, not gleeful, but definitely voting for McCain.

All the “right people” at the “right parties” are for Obama. Murdoch doesn’t get much face time with the bitter, God and gun-clinging folks in flyover country.

Rupert is just “growing.”
