Purchasing a pistol with your stimulus package money is foolish if you consider that for the same money...

You can’t own anything full auto, unless you’re a millionaire. Reagan signed the gun control bill of 1986 which forbade any more manufacturing of full auto firearms for civilians. That means all that is available from 1986 until the end of times is what was already manufactured AND licensed for sale to civilians before 1986. Since the supply was chopped off so drastically, the going market price for full auto firearms is 20 or 30 thousand dollars...and that’s for a 50 year old piece of junk.
Also, some states have banned full auto entirely.

I never quite understood the popular fascination with a “slo-mo Claymore,” but then there’s a lot of things I don’t get.

The Mossberg is good. Take a look at the 18” Remington 870 and the Winchester 1300 Defender as well before deciding. Any one of those will put real fear into the heart of a scumbag. ;>)

I think you might like the Saiga 12 better. Better still, they will again be available in June or July.
They are light, point like a dream, and have the reliability of an AK-47 - probably ‘cause that’s what they are.

I already spent my stimulus package, unfortunately most of the money will be
sent to Austria... sorry team!

Actually some of the MP5s that were formerly semi auto and new are now showing up on the market as class III with the sole BATFE registered part being the full auto sear. They're still going for a healthy 7-9K and as far as I know only H&K is doing this.
FL is not one of the states banning anything. I do love living in the GUNSHINE STATE!

I have a Mossberg 500 with the 20” slug barrel and ghost ring sights.
It makes an impression when you take it Sporting Clays shooting. It doesn’t like the short brass target rounds so you have to hold in the action unlock button next to the trigger when you work the action.

Actually my $600 is going to help finance a training trip to Blackwater USA next fall. However since my birthday was three days ago, my wife decided to go ahead and simply BUY me a brand new H&K P30 9mm just 'cause I'm such a wonderful hubby! I think this one of many things that makes her a wonderful wife. Better be, we're celebrating 20yrs in August.

"Purchasing a pistol with your stimulus package money is foolish" I agree. A long gun is better, since a pistol is what you use to fight your way back to the rifle that you stupidly left behind. $;-)

If anybody is still needing to purchase a pistol, DO IT.
But the top priority should be semi-auto rifles, since all of the candidates will support and/or sign a new permanent (no sunset provision) so-called “assault weapon ban.”
Normal capacity magazines (over ten rounds) will also be banned, so stock up before 2009!

Another thing I have seen in the movies time and again is just before shooting a person or maybe threatening someone, or facing down a lion, they either rack the slide or lever a round into a model 92 or 94 or even work the bolt of a bolt action.
The fact that they have been in a life or death situation for several minutes or hours with an empty chamber doesn't seem to strike the writers as curious, or more likely, stupid.

Mine is going toward a vacation, however, if I were going to buy a new firearm it would be a 460 S&W BFG with a scope.
