The Racist Origin of “La Raza”
All American Blogger ^ | May 12, 2008 | Duane Lester

The term “La Raza“, or “the Race” originated in a book titled “La Raza Cósmica,” written in 1929 by José Vasconcelos. The book’s title translates to “The Cosmic Race,” and was Vasconcelos’ attempt to explain “the ideology of a future ‘fifth race’ in the Americas; an agglomeration of all the races in the world with no respect to color or number to erect a new civilization: Universópolis.”

And La Raza’s slogan, “For the race, everything, outside the race, nothing” is taken directly from Castro’s slogan.
Just sub `revoluccion’ for `race’.

I wonder what Native Americans in the southwest think of the Reconquista movement.

"The modern use of “La Raza” has been adopted by the proponents of illegal immigration and by the Reconquista movement. It’s meaning has shifted from a supreme mixed race, to the Latino race and is more mainstream than before.

Brown Supremacist.

This is one reason Texas CCL applications are way up this year.

An American Indian Speaks Out Against Illegal Aliens http://www.americanchronicle.com/articles/viewArticle.asp?articleID=7272 ^

Posted on 03/29/2006 9:32:17 AM PST by vrwc0915 An American Indian Speaks Out Against Illegal Aliens Dr. David A. Yeagley, an American Indian and direct descendant of the Comanche warrior Bad Eagle says it best: America today is making the same mistake we Indians made nearly four centuries ago. America is letting in too many foreigners. And we Indians could end up losing this country all over again. It may come as surprise to many white people who have been brainwashed by the media to see Indians as the ultimate liberals, but there are few groups in America today who take a dimmer view of mass immigration than the American Indian. The Comanches were one of the most intolerant of all Indian peoples. We had no use for anyone else, white, Mexican or Indian. When we came thundering down on the southwest plains, we took the land we wanted and ran everyone else off. We created the life we wanted, at the expense of other people. The white man did the same. Only he did it on a grander scale. In many ways, Indians see the white man as a kind of adopted son -- naive, reckless and destructive, at times -- but nevertheless cut from the same warrior cloth as we were. We do not see black, Mexicans, Asians, Arabs and others in this light. These peoples may have their own virtues and traditions, but they have no history with us. They are strangers. If they want to rule us, they must conquer us the way the white man did -- on the battlefield, by force of arms. That is the only honorable way for a warrior. The white man seems to have lost his spirit. We see that he is giving this country away to [illegal alien] others, and this fills our hearts with fear. For we are part of the land he is giving away . . . The white man must regain his warrior soul and take back his land! In that fight, I will stand by his side and offer whatever strength I have to ensure his victory!" (13)

“I wonder what Native Americans in the southwest think of the Reconquista movement.”

Depends if they profit or not. Some of them sell out to them for passage on their lands or work with the drug cartels. The ones not corrupted think it stinks. Just another invasion. Deja vu!

The only way to deal with the NCLR is to publicly discredit them or their supporters, preferably on video which is then uploaded to video sharing sites. You can go to one of their public appearances and point out their lies or misleading statements to one of their leaders, or you can go to an appearance by McCain or Hillary and, after pointing out issues with the group, ask them to denounce them. Or, you can go to an appearance by someone involved in getting them funding.

McCain is going to be speaking at La Raza’s convention this summer. Just like the slimy Karl Rove did awhile back.

Actually, Vasconcelos drew directly from Hegel (think thesis and antithesis), believing that a "new (Mexican) American Man" would rise from the mixture of Indians and whites.

Of course, he ignored the fact that 50% of the Mexican population at the time (now down to 35% due to assimilation, much of it coerced) were full-blooded Indians who wanted NO PART of his "cosmic race."

My lefty professor referred to the ideas of Vasconcelos as "La Raza COMICA."

Read the article, or google Vasconcelos’s name. He believed that the future would belong to a blending of the Indian and European races. “La Raza Cosmica” combines the best of the Indian and the European. It was essentially yet one of thousands of racial theories popular worldwide back then (including in the US, see Madison Grant), and was used to justify the victory of the mestizos in the Mexican revolution.

THERE IS NO LATINO RACE! Latinos can be of ANY race: black, white, mulatto, mestizo.

Nobody in Latin America, or in Europe buys the idea of a "latino" race. "La Raza" is a purely MEXICAN concept invented by Vasconcelos, and has ZERO currency outside of Mexico.

Why do you think Mexicans are brown? IT IS THEIR INDIAN heritage, not their white Spanish heritage.
