Check out this hilarious VIDEO parody about Hillary based on the movie, Sunset Boulevard. This parody only makes real sense if you have seen that movie made in 1950. BTW, I am a HUGE fan of all movies and documentaries made circa the years 1950 to 1953. There is something about that era that I find fascinating. I'm not sure if it was the cars or the clothes or the hairstyles or maybe something else but that is sort of a forgotten era. It was the fifties but not yet Eisenhower fifties. Okay, end of lecture. Enjoy the parody!

Shouldn’t Bill Be face down in the pool?

Well done! Here's the YouTube link for the actual final scene
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VhlhE32SoXs&feature=related for those who are interested. Hillary is strong and will land on her feet, though. She'll either have Harry Reid's job, is the next governor of New York, or headed to the presidency of Wellesley.

This is as good a thread as any other. I'm looking for examples of film noir-type, big-band(ish), Peter Gunn theme-like music from the b'w films of the 40's and 50's. Anyone have suggestions? All welcome.

A big part of what hurt the noirish look of films from that era was the introduction of the wide screen movies starting with “The Robe” in 1953. A little tough to have film noir on the wide screen. There was another great flick from that era which felt very claustrophobic. It was about a women’s prison. I can’t remember the name of the movie.

    Would it be Caged?
To: 1rudeboy
Jack Webb was in a very un-Joe Friday role in Sunset Boulevard. Actually he played a sort of goofy guy in that flick.

Yes. That was the one. Caged. Very claustrophobic. I read that the woman who wrote the screenplay got herself incarcerated in a women's prison in order to do the research. It's FUnnie how that flick slipped by the censors since there was an obvious bulldyke character in that movie. Actually, part of the FUn of watching the movies from back then is watching how the directors slipped certain scenes past the censors. One explanation is that the censors from the Breen office were often somewhat clueless.

The last of the truly great film noir movies was Touch of Evil from 1958. The restored version with Orson Welles' original cuts.
