Who will be the first prominent Warmist/Alarmist to defect or recant?

With evidence (that global warming is a hoax) finally starting to percolate into the MSM, eventually someone is going to break and admit that it's all been a fraud.

Who do you think will be the first prominent Warmist to 'fess up to the Big Lie? Someone in the public eye -- politician, Hollywood-type, media whore, etc.

Indeed, it is a difficult thing to predict. But from what I am seeing, do not expect oil prices to go down. At best they will begin to level off for a while, but $3.00 to $4.00 a gallon gas is here to stay.

Expect a crisis in the Middle East very soon that will aggravate the situation also. Iran and Syria are just waiting for us to leave Iraq. Then they will hit Israel, take Kuwait and the Saudis will be forced to join them. Both Iran and Syria will probably have nukes very soon on top of it. Islamic Jihad will take on a whole new meaning of evil when that happens.

Russia and China are rapidly emerging as the next oil giants and will then control most of the Worlds oil supply. The greens here, will eventually be pushed out of the way due to public anger against them, but our domestic supply will still not be enough to control the World price.

Like I said earlier, some of my predictions will turn out different but the price of oil most likely will not.

They will never Fess up.

They will just stop talking about it, then the press will quite talking about it and then if anybody asks them about it they will say “What Global Warming? Who said anything about Global Warming? Not me.”

I’d love it if Michael Moore made a move debunking Al Gore’s movie- dueling movies.

How will that person get invited to the all the “great Global Warming parties” afterward?

How will they make a living when their $500K per year in research grants dries up?

How will they respond when all the other great global warming professors turn their backs on them and shun them?

So, they keep their mouths shut and their papers only point out small little flaws in the theory while at the same time promoting the theory in general.

"They are already backing off the glowbull warming BS and changing it to “Climate Change”.

Freeper NewJerseyJoe nailed it folks. The word is apparently out in all the MSM management meetings.

"W" better move quick on this or the next step will be MSM stories that fault "W" for "focusing on Global Warming when it became clear "way back" early this year that the problem was Global Cooling, as warned by all of us know it all media in the 1970's."

Not a soul among the true believers; this is the first real traction the environalists have had since the EPA was formed in 1970 and all the sacrifice of which they have dreamed these past two and 1/2 decades is now coming to fuition - they will simply say that their steady efforts are paying off early and must be strengthened to avoid losing ground.

The avant garde has backed off climate change and is now back to pollution. CO2 is now an atmospheric pollutant. That was a month ago, so those on the leading edge are probably working up a fresh meme and we will be looking for it.

THere is too much money to be made on the issue for Big Science. New Corporations are making a mint on green technology. Governments want the issue so they can explain and get away with higher taxes and to achieve dependence from oil. Thee is too much at stake right now for those who are invested in it.

that makes sense, carbon dioxide is measurable and increasing, whether relevant to anything or not.

Thanks to the miracle inventions of modern chemistry they can measure parts per million and parts per billion of anything and they are finding pollutants everywhere that nobody ever noticed before because a ppm is so close to nothing. Science!

You know, I heard Melvin Calvin, the discoverer of the Calvin cycle of photosynthesis at an American Chemical Society meeting in about 1982, talking about rising CO2 in those Mona Loa (Kea?) readings, so that was a long time before Gore. I can’t remember the gist of it ( may even have been greenhouse effect/ global warming). His solution was to plant many acres of marginal agricultural areas ( I think he suggested something the size of Arizona)with some fast growing plant that he identified, to recycle the CO2 ,as I remember it, and I think he did talk about using the plant crop to make fuel. So I suppose there is some responsible science in there somewhere. I’ll be honest, I’ve never been motivated to look back at what he or anyone else did with what he was saying.

The global cooling this past year has cancelled out the global warming of the past decade or two, but all of it is down in the noise level. Not significant, that is. Certainly not a valid basis for Kyoto, etc. Price of oil and price of rice is definitely moving out of the background noise range and that should drown out all the climate anxiety.

it will be nice, though, if some of these alternatives that we’ve been talking about for decades can become viable. I guess they were talking about depleting “fossil fuels” way back in Tesla’s time, and that was one of the reasons he tried to develop Wardenclyff and the whole geodisic (not sure that’s the right word) energy net.
