Ben Stein Blows it on Fox--ID is Religion (vanity)
Fox News | 04/20/2008 | Soliton

Ben Stein was just on Fox News with Geraldo. He was asked If ID versus Evolution was a "left, right thing". He responded,"No, It's an atheist versus a non-believer thing". Stein inadvertantly admitted that ID is a religious argument, not science!

If your assertion that the Christian world view is consistent with the actions of Hitler in Germany I will simply have to disagree.

It seems the vacuous morality (lack of morality) of darwinian naturalism is absolutely consistent with what actually happened in the '30s and early '40s. The Christian world view says, "Thou shalt not murder." The law of tooth and fang stays, "To survive you must murder."

I think any honest reader of our conversation would agree that Hitler was ordered not by Judeo-Christian morality but the Darwinian pretext of survival of the fittest...Rex-Lex. Might makes right was the order of the day, but it is not a JudeaoChristian teaching by a long shot. Anyone with a perfunctory understanding of the teachings of Christianity can see they are worlds apart.

——Anyone with a perfunctory understanding of the teachings of Christianity can see they are worlds apart.——

Yet there were many churches in Europe that held contempt for Jewish people. Jesus is perfect, we humans can be so damned depraved its scary to the point of death.

We can sit in big beautiful buildings, sing songs to Jesus and step out and kill our fellow man.

I thank Jesus that this practice seems to have lessened, but now there are those who pray to Allah who have taken up the slack.

Chapter and verse, in context, where Jesus instructed people to commit genocide? Allah says to do just that. Are you equating Christianity with Islamofascism? If you are asserting by saying, “we can kill our fellow man”, that man is a sinner, I agree. If you are asserting that Systematic Biblical Christianity is equal to islamofascism, I disagree.

Like I said, Jesus is perfect. We humans are far from it and even with the Lords words to love Him and love thy neighbor as thyself written down for all to see, we still display evil in myriad ways.

Islam began as a death cult and will continue in that manner.

Perhaps you should review the New Testament and refresh your knowledge of biblical history. Peter was a circumcised Jew who brought the gospel primarily to other Jews (Cornelius is an exception). Paul, whose name was changed from Saul, was also a circumcised Jew and brought the gospel primarily to Gentiles (non-Jews) though he would usually minister in the local synagogue(s) until his message was rejected.

Paul’s (previously Saul) opposition to circumcision was for the Gentiles who were not a part of Abraham’s covenant. There was no need for non-Jews to be circumcised in order to become Christians. You can read all about it in the book of Galatians.

Great tagline!

"I may look into it farther when I have time. For the moment, I’m skeptical. The theory posits that all of the geological history that was assumed to have taken billions of years actually happened in a matter of days. Supposedly the splitting up of Pangea into the current continental configuration also happened in this same time period. That means we’re talking about continental plate drift on the order of tens or hundreds of miles per day, and all of the associated seismic and volcanic activity that goes with it. That, combined with the flood is supposed to have produced conditions that killed, sorted, and fossilized all of the life we see evident in the fossil record and all the sedimentary rock in a matter of days, while still allowing for the survival of people and a collection of animals in a wooden boat on the surface, and the survival of every species of aquatic plant and animal, freshwater and saltwater, still in existence today in the same ocean where this was taking place."

You must be aware that the total duration of the flood was approximately 1 lunar year.

I advise you also do further research on exactly where salt came from.

But if you would rather be skeptical, I understand; why search for what you hope to never find.

Care to apply that to conservative political philosophy, of which a healthy skepticism is considered a defining characteristic? If you want an honest, civil conversation I'll recommend you consider discontinuing the practice of assuming to know what other people's motivations and thoughts are.

Please forgive me, I wasn’t seeking to ‘defeat’ you. I merely ought to clarify the concept of ‘faith’ as it applies to living and to the Grace of God in Christ Jesus. The 15+ billion years of evolutionary evolution stands as one phase in a continuing process authored by God The Father Almighty ... the next phase is on the level of spirit and is already underway, begun with God ‘breathing’ into Adam and him becoming not justa a soul but a ‘LIVING’ soul, a spirit WITH A SOUL. All living things have a soul, a soul of life. Only humans (and Jesus since the resurrection), so far, have a spirit inhabiting a soul, connected/sequestered in an animated body. There is something unique about we humans that sets us apart from the Angels, yet the Angels appear to be able to physically manifest. It’s all so interesting, don’t you think?

Correction: "The 15+ billion years of evolutionary evolution ..." should read "The 15+ billion years of evolutionary universe ..."

The Angel visited Joseph in his sleep ... that was some more persuasive dream don’tchaknow! BTW, I’m one of those ‘apostates’ who believe Mary had the right to choose to not be the mother for Jesus, but of course God could read her heart and knew she would have the faith to accept such a blessing regardless of the public shame it might cause her.

(Did I just see an elephant go overhead?)

It has been my observation that those who claim to believe Evolution, apply a dogmatic skepticism to, and refuse to research, any information contradicting their, apparently deeply held belief.

I have also observed that when someone wants to find something, they are self motivated in the search thereof.

In other words, when someone truly wants to learn about a subject, you don't have to spoon feed them what they could just as easily find on their own.

I cannot know what someones motivations are, only what actions those motivations bring about.

Luke 6:44 "For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes."

The scenario that's been described for the events of the flood implies long term cataclysmic changes to the evironment of the planet, seemingly incompatible with the survival of life of any kind.

If there is any information available on what this theory predicts those conditions are going to be, and how they arrived at those predicions I have not been able to find it.

If you know where it is, please show me. If you can't find it either then why try and tell me I'm being willfully ignorant because I can't?

For a Creationists perspective on the flood, AIG is a great place to start.

Please accept my apologies for being a bit harsh.
