Joseph Manzanares accosted his girlfriend, Laquisha Bobo, in the Hollywood Video store in Commerce City, Colorado where she worked, knocked over several video displays and a computer and threatened to kill her all because of a dispute over which gang their 4-year-old son should join.
The mother is a member of the Crips. Manzanares belongs to the Westside gang. Each was adamant that their son be affiliated with his or her gang.
A man has the right to bring up his son the way he chooses, Manzanares insisted. Its a matter of pride.
A mother knows whats best for her baby, Bobo retorted.
The parents didnt disagree on everything. Both said the boy would be raised a Democrat.

Lynch them both and put the kid in a foster home.
Was that racist? Probably
Do I care? No
I thought it was an amusing story. We have husbands and wives who are religiously different. We have husbands and wives who are politically different. We have husbands and wives who are sexually different (John and John, or Mandy and Mandy). We have husbands and wives who are culturally different. We even have husbands from Alabama and wives from Mississippi. Eventually...something has to give...and a fellow has to stand tall or give in. I’m thinking this kid won’t be raised in this family for every long. One or both of the parents will be in jail within a year....and then the state will start asking the remaining parent stupid questions. The kid will end with some foster family.
You have to wonder how this guy and gal ever came to meet.
The best thing for this kid is an early exit from this life by his parents.
sad.
I like the approach that Wyatt Earp in the movie Tombstone took, something to the effect of “I see a cowboy wearing the colors and I’ll kill them”.
Too bad we as a society didn’t take more of this attitude.
