DUmmie FUnnies 03-19-08 (DUmmies Cry Cry CRY Over Obama Speech)
DUmmie FUnnies ^ | March 19, 2008 | DUmmies and PJ-Comix

When reading of the DUmmie reaction to Obama's speech yesterday, the Johnny Ray emotion-laden song CRY was brought to mind along with another crying song on the flip side of the same record called THE LITTLE WHITE CLOUD THAT CRIED. This record was released at the end of 1951 and, amazingly, became the #1 and #2 hits respectively. Johnny Ray was noted for giving over the top performances of these songs in which he would almost always break out with tears flowing down his face. One possible reason for the emotional performances is that Ray probably realized that his career was over even before the release of the songs because of his arrest due to a "wide-stance" type of situation in a burlesque theater bathroom shortly before he shot to fame. Ray flamed out early after these songs were released but they are considered an early precursor to rock'n'roll. Okay enough with the musicology lesson for today but the best way to read this DUmmie THREAD titled, "Michelle Obama and others seen crying after Barack's Speech," is while listening to these "Cry" songs. So let us now watch the DUmmies Cry Cry CRY over the Obama speech in Bolshevik Red while the commentary of your humble correspondent, thinking that Ray's "The Little White Cloud That Cried" could serve as a great source for another Charles Henrickson song parody to join his "Cry" parody, is in the [brackets]:

Michelle Obama and others seen crying after Barack's Speech

[If your sweetheart sends a letter of goodbye
It's no secret you'll feel better if you cry
When waking from a bad dream
Don't you sometimes think it's real?
But it's only false emotions that you feel.]

The candidate's wife, Michelle Obama, sat in the front row during the speech. She was very emotional and could be seen crying backstage after the speech was over, given the subject matter of her husband's oratory.

[If your heartaches seem to hang around too long
And your blues keep getting bluer with each song
Remember sunshine can be found behind a cloudy sky
So let your hair down and go on and cry.]

The truth shall set you free! Now I feel like crying.

[I went walkin' down by the river
Feeling very sad inside
When all at once I saw in the sky
The little white cloud that cried.

I'm tearing up just reading ABOUT it.. I can only imagine when I actually take the time to listen to Obama's Speech.

[He told me he was very lonesome
And no one cared if he lived or died
And said sometimes the thunder and lightning
Make all little clouds hide.]

If you didn't cry, someone needs to check your pulse. It was a speech that christens an era.

[He said "Have faith in all kinds of weather"
"For the sun will always shine"
"Do your best and always remember"
"The dark clouds pass with time"]

My eyes got a little teary... but prior to the speech sitting through Pat Buchanan's screeching bombastic view of America made me weep. Desolation followed by the "Audacity of Hope".

[He asked me if I'd tell all my world
Just how hard those little clouds try
That's how I know I'll always remember
The little white cloud that sat right down and cried.]

It brought tears to my eyes.

[If your heartaches seem to hang around too long
And your blues keep getting bluer with each song
Well now, remember sunshine can be found
Behind a cloudy sky
So let your hair down and go right on and cry.]

Sing it.

[Johnny Ray already did.]

I am about to tear up again seeing this photograph.

[The photo above makes me laugh so hard it brings tears to my eyes.]

okay okay I admit that I love obama too but I also know that after this Wright thing he can NOT win the GE and I wish that he would....listening to his speech today i shed tears too and I am a Hillary supporter

[Killjoy!]

Your post has touched me more than any other I've read today

[It makes me want to break out a hanky and Cry Cry CRY!]

i started to tear up while reading the text on my phone at a restaurant. i had to stop reading it.

[Did you order a teardrop tomato salad?]

He's too good for us

[WE ARE NOT WORTHY!!!]

This was a very profound, moving day! I will never forget it!

[Did you smoke a cigarette afterwards?]

I teared up at work. Anyone who has a heart and cares for his/her fellow man/woman cannot help but be moved. The safe thing to have done would have been to throw Wright under the bus. But he didn't. He showed that, as an imperfect person himself, he loved another imperfect person. And what he said is that all of us, with all of our imperfections, working together, are the best thing about this country.

[Instead Obama safely threw his white grandmother under the bus by accusing her of being a racist.]

Fortunately, I sneezed about two minutes later and had an excuse for the tearing up.

[KAZUNHEIT!]

Wow. the speech didn't make me cry but this thread is choking me up.

[Sniff!]

I missed the live telecast, but couldn't wait to read the text when I got back to the office. Once I found it, I shared the speech with my coworker. As we were reading it, we would turn to each other every few minutes to share what we were feeling.

[Did you cry on each others' shoulders?]

I just watched it again..I am such a pussy. Where the f*ck did I put the freaken kleenex?

[In Johnny Ray's pocket.]

Arghh.. enough crying already. My eyes are bout swollen shut. How long has it been since we were so proud of something, or something in our country, that it made us CRY?

[When John Kerry won by a landslide in the 2004 exit polls.]

When my mother listened to it a few hours ago, she told me she cried at the end

[Pied Piper Pitt cried to the tune of "Tears of a Clown."]

I called in sick so I could watch it. I was seen crying in my recliner. My tough husband--who didn't cry when his father died--came home from work and blubbered like a baby.

[Obama giving a CYA speech is so much more emotional than the death of a parent.]

Obama could read the phone book and some people would faint clear away.

[And leave the yellow pages wet with tears.]

thinking that Ray's "The Little White Cloud That Cried" could serve as a great source for another Charles Henrickson song parody. . . .

Don't know that song (I could find it, I'm sure), but the title yields an immediate possibility: "The Little White Crowd That Cried," about these white liberals blubbering over Obama's CYA speech.

HOWEVER, I DON'T know that I will have time to get to that. I've got FOUR (4) sermons coming up in the next four days!!!! PLUS, within the last 24 hours a new firestorm has erupted in our church body, the LCMS. The host and producer of the best Lutheran radio/Internet talk show, "Issues Etc." were suddenly FIRED yesterday, with no reason given. The powers that be in our synod are opposed to true confessional Lutheranism.

So is there going to be a “Grandma got run over by Obama” song coming out soon?

EXCELLENT suggestion! But I'm not sure I'll be able to get to it. See my post 65.

Grandma’s white - so he could throw her under the bus and not lose support from his base.

I liked the moral equivalence thing, when he equated Geraldine Ferraro's one little innocuous remark with Rev. Wright's LONG history of racist, anti-American hate-mongering.

She's 86 years old. What chance is there that she'll be of any further use to him at that age? He might as well squeeze whatever he can out of her. . . .

Obama did verbal euthanasia on Granny. (Soylent Granny?)

“It was a bunch of flowery nothing!”

Exactly.

My feeling on it was that if someone supported him before, it placated them. If they did not support him before, it gave them more ammunition.

I don’t think it was persuasive enough to appease the concerns of those on the fence.

“My tough husband—who didn’t cry when his father died—came home from work and blubbered like a baby.”

A woman that works for my husband didn’t take any time off of work when her sister and mother died within weeks of each other. The woman asked for a week off for James Brown’s funeral. Go figure.

I feel like crying, too.

That so many fellow Americans are willing to follow this smooth racist down the Yellow Brick Road.

That so many human beings feel rather than think.

That America is in danger from the UN and the jihadists abroad, and from the emotional and ignorant at home.

God bless America, but Got help her, too.

Read somewhere this morning that the job of a conman is not to convert the cynic, but to give the mark a reason to keep believing what he want to believe already.

In this sense, Obama’s speech was successful. Highly successful.
