The tide has turned in Romney’s favor.
your biases “are” you excluded Paul
I don't know, but I do know even if he still is running, I will get as many votes as Allen Keyes.
Nice work!
Have you seen the website that offers a questionnaire for people to find out who is the candidate who best agrees with the reader? My answers concluded that Romney was my candiadate, and I had chosen him last summer as the best to lead our country, and take on her hillariness and the Clinton Machine before he can make it to the White House.
Is he even on the ballot in most states? Didn’t see him in the SC results? If he was a serious candidate (and not just trying to get some soapbox time), he would be on the ballot in most contests.
oh, and while Im at it - Im quite confident I never requested to be on your ping list, so please dont spam me, and remove me at your earliest convenience
“I don’t like the idea that someone this flawed is the best we have left.”
Amen - it seems folks are trying to make a silk purse out of one of these sow’s ears, and so far I’m not seein’ it.
Colonel, USAFR
Saw this yesterday........
DWar,
Please do not ping me to these ratings.
You ASSUME that when Mitt speaks, he actually
means what he says. He does not. That renders
your numerical rating system meaningless.
The guy will say anything to appear conservative,
even hiring a “conservative image shaping consultant”
on his staff.
All you are rating is what Mitt says to get elected.
best,

Thank you for posting that. Surely these Romney opponents will be able to see that Romney is a conservative by looking at that chart put out by the Associated Press. If they have any brains at all, they will know that the Associated Press obviously considers Romney and Thompson to be tied for most conservative, and that the Associated Press has no love for conservatism, and that they put this out thinking blue was good, and red was bad.
The best man left for conservatives, now that Thompson quit, is Romney. It’s right there in blue and red.
Thanks again for the chart, and thanks for the PING too!
This is a good basis for discussion. Of course different people will weight their issues differently, so the final total at the end has little meaning.
I only saw one glaring error: On global warming Romney rates a 5, at best. Not a 10. I’ll find a source if you’d like.
Thank you for your hard work in creating and revising your very interesting chart.
Check out the color coded chart created by someone based on an analysis done by the Associated Press recently. It was posted by bmwcycle in this thread, post #24.
I don’t know how he wouldn’t rate a 10, based on his very strong position as stated in the Associated Press analysis of the candidates. See post #24 in this thread for details.
I agree and Romney does have some warts. I think he will be business as usual and nothing will change. I don’t believe he has any understanding of the military either.
Bingo, the correction should start with dropping Willard to zero in the guns and 2nd support.
No way in hell would I support Paul because of the least loony things he has said. Don’t even get me started on the most loony.
That being said I would like to see Ron Paul in the list just for comparison sake.
My choices WERE Thompson, Hunter, Romney
Just out of curiosity I took my top-3 non-negotiable wants (Illegal Immigration, WOT, and 2nd Amendment). I took out your ratings and just calculated them. For WOT I included War on Terror, Iraq, and Iran as I think those are all tied together.
Came up with in order (fourth also showing):
Thompson 50
Hunter 50
Romney 43
Huck 35
Now since I have 3 issues and you had 5 I compiled WOT, Iraq, and Iran into one issue and averaged the scores. Because of this average a candidate (Huck) got rounded up, and one got rounded down (McCain).
Thompson 30
Hunter 30
Romney 23
Huck 22
So based on your scoring compared to my top-3 and gut picking you’re spot on.
And no I am still not voting for the Huckster even though on average top-3 he is only one point behind Romney.
Romney is better than Rudy with guns. Rudy deserves a big fat zero there. Only way Romney deserves a 0 is if Rudy is put negative on guns for fair comparison sake.
Not entirely sure about McCain though. If Romney is in fact better then McCain then Romney deserves the 5. If they are the same then he deserves a 2 just like McCain. McCain turns me off on enough I'm not even gonna bother double checking his 2nd Amendment stance.
