Road to Des Moines Conversions on Immigration (Hunter Press release)
News Which Cannot Lose ^ | 10/25/07 | Duncan Hunter/staff

Posted on 10/26/2007 11:42:37 AM PDT by pissant

Washington, D.C. – Republican presidential candidate Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-CA) criticized fellow GOP contenders Thompson and Romney after they released ‘position papers’ on illegal immigration apparently discovering only just recently the policy he has been advocating for years.

Both the Romney and Thompson plans talk tough on border security and cracking down on illegal immigration, but the plans beg the question as to why their records don’t reflect such rhetoric.

Rep. Hunter explained, “I can tell you that my proposals to significantly increase and strengthen deportations, penalties, interior and border enforcement, and to curtail the incentives for illegal aliens generally had few vocal allies in the US Senate…Mr. Thompson certainly was not among them.”

He continued, “As for Mr. Romney, the fact that many cities in Massachusetts were, and remain, protected sanctuaries for illegal aliens, makes one wonder if this is just one more of the those ‘I saw the light’ moments.”

While Congressman Hunter is pleased to see the GOP candidates move towards the positions he has been advocating for decades, he stated, “watching Senator Thompson, Governor Romney, Mayor Giuliani and now even Governor Huckabee attempting to outflank one another on this issue is, frankly, amusing; after long careers where the problem was either ignored, or in some cases, exacerbated”.

Rep. Hunter authored and shepherded legislation that built a two-layer border fence outside of San Diego leading to a 53% drop in crime and 90% decrease in drug trafficking along that corridor. Hunter’s message of a stronger national defense, tighter border security, and fair trade with China is resonating with voters across the nation.

Right now, Hunter isn’t getting things done as a Presidential candidate. And that is what counts most.

Baloney. You guys are just too wussie to go after the tootyfruityrudybots and McCainiacks and take down Romney the FlipFlopper.

It’s all low-lying fruit over there in tootyfruityland. The only thing left in Hunterland is high hanging fruit.

Your candidate is vulnerable from the right and you know it.

None of the four front runners are true conservatives, according to their records.

Looking back, it’s TOO BAD that Pat Buchanan WASN’T elected president! Today the country wouldn’t have a NAFTA, GATT, WTO problem; an extremely serious illegal immigration problem; an enormous trade deficit; or a transfer of high paying jobs to China, India and elsewhere, crippling the backbone of the America, the middle class.

The reason? Because you guys, and many others bought what the media fed you then just as you are buying it today. Yup, as I’ve said before, Fredheads are all bone and no brain. But there is still time to wise up to support and vote for America’s last, best hope, Rep. Duncan Lee Hunter! :)

Rudy, Fred and Mitt probably have a staffer or two, looking into Hunter’s records, and maybe trying to help them sound like him.

Like the article said, Hunter is THE Conservative in this race.

Yeah, that's it. FRed is vulnerable from the right...to who? Rudy McRomneybee is FAR to the left of Fred on immigration, taxes, amnesty, homosexual marriage, etc.. Do you really think that Fred's campaign sits up late at night worrying about another candidate that doesn't poll at 1%? Wake up! Tell you what: You just keep dreaming and I'll keep raising money for Fred ($65,000 so far) blogging and writing letters on his behalf, etc...

After seven weeks conservative Fred has been doing a good job. Within close striking range of Rooty and for good reason. Fred`s the most reliable and viable conservative running. Period.

After ten months, Duncan Hunter`s candidacy has gone nowhere and is seemingly dead.

This is a press release by the Hunter campaign. What do you expect them to say? LOL

Didn’t Fred support McCain/Feingold, and vote to give China Most Favored Nation status?

What a resume Fred has against Duncan’s.

8 years in Congress and 30 years in showbiz. Schwartzenegger rudux. I’ll pass.

OK, then, AGAIN, back to the original question: Why are you bothering with us lowly one-percenters? It would seem you have bigger fish to fry? Go take down some tootyfruityrudy liberals and other flipflopper RINOs. Methinks the lady doth protest too much.

I don’t think Fred’s campaign worries about Hunter. I think they stay up all night proselytizing his issues in gigantic flip flops from Fred’s documented moderate record, just to appeal to conservatives.

The real question is if FRedheads aren’t worried about Duncan Hunter’s pull of conservatives, why do you all promptly try to hijack Hunter threads? Seems like a waste of your time to me. ;)

The public is not telling him no, the public is being blocked from hearing what he says and does.

SO right! When the public hears Hunter and knows his record, they vote Hunter. That's what all this by the naysayers is about...they don't want a Duncan Hunter heard because it shows the rinos for what they are.

Rudy McRomneybee goes home, Fred is nominated and Hillary is defeated …

That’s it! That is the Security * Unity * Prosperity the country needs (and if not, we get Rudy, not Duncan).

And the sign that will signal this harmonious outcome will be when Don pissant Quixote gives up the ghost and backs Fred.

Pissant, come to the light.

They'll never admit it, but supporters of Fred likely approve of such policies. Why else would they support them now?

Pissant, come to the light.

That 'light' you speak of is the RINO express, fueled by the media and the RINO establishment GOP.

You’ve got that backwards, buddy, Hunter is telling the public something and they are not listening. He is telling them that there can be a TRUE Reagan conservative as the next POTUS.

You and all your pals on this thread are willing to settle for some half-a@@ed compromise candidate. Hunter people aren’t.

Servant of the Cross indeed! Duncan Hunter walks the walk with the Lord, every day of his life. He doesn’t need a taq line to proclaim his faith. He lives it.

I’ll tell you what, if Hunter gets run over by a bus, or tells me he no longer seeks the presidency, I will consider your request. In the meantime, it is absolutely critical that the conservatives in this party work diligently to take this party back to Reaganism. And a man’s history is the surest indication of how he will act once given the reigns of power. It never fails, whether it is a Clinton, Bush, Carter or anything in between.

So I invite all conservatives that put a premium on US Soverignty, the deportation of illegal aliens, Victory over the islamo-scum and fearless leadership in dealings with China and Russia and Iran and Venezuela to support the one man who has proven to take these issues seriously.

Yep you are kinda streching the showbiz party aren’t you?... I don’t know his tenure in the film industry and can’t tell you much about it either but I’d bet hard cash it isn’t anywhere near 30 yrs but then what does the truth matter?

Now speaking of 30 years I think that Hunter fellar is much closer to 30 years in getting gov’t paychecks than Thompson is in getting showbiz paychecks... Just guessing..
