Why The Media Is So Afraid of Fred Thompson
Web Commentary ^ | October 15, 2007 | Andrew T. Durham

Not being in the middle of it all gives me a rather unique advantage. That means I have no one to answer to for my views. I just watch things, and then I talk about them. In other words, this means I don’t have to lie about my biases in order to keep some false sense of objectivity alive for the gullible. In other words, I’m no Chris Matthews.

Let me start then with the current batch of presidential hopefuls: Folks - meaning the current Republican candidates - you really need to watch out for Fred Thompson. None of you are a match for this guy's ability to communicate with people. None of you. McCain's idiotic comment about Thompson's absence at the last debate about it being "past his bedtime" was unfortunate on a number of levels: a) coming from an old guy, and b) coming from a lunatic. And Thompson hadn't even declared yet, you gnome. Take some more "cold medicine" and talk about bombing countries.

As a professional public speaker it is so interesting to watch how people are so furtive with Fred Thompson. That's because they know they will get burned if they go too far. They are afraid of someone who can communicate, because the critics cannot. They can sip their tea, and titter over their own wit, but they cannot possibly reach out beyond the mere desire for power or influence. Even the limp wrist of George Stephanopoulos can't dismiss Fred Thompson.

The absolutely embarrassing attempts by the overblown book club members that represent our television commentators were astonishing in their blatant lack of focus, clawing to find anything to criticize Thompson for, except for issues. Someone said something about "substantive" debate going on during the debates, or at least they think it does. Bullcrap. These people fawn and beg in front of a minimal audience and criticize the one man who is not willing to kiss backside. Even I can see that these so-called debates are nothing more than embarrassing, elementary school spelling bees. The only real debate I have ever seen in 43 years is the one between Joe Liebermann and Dick Cheney, sitting down across a table, and talking one on one. This is something Thompson could and should do, if there was anyone who would dare do it.

Drudge and Rush Limbaugh won't even take Thompson on because they know Thompson will read them like a flip book. Please, folks, don't make any more fools of yourself than you already have. No one so far can beat Hillary "the Chinese Curse" Clinton. Romney has no prayer, no matter what his religion is (though I love Battlestar Galactica). Giuliani (though I love the guy) is backing off his real personality to sell lameness. I will only vote for the guy who will put the media in its place and not back down. That used to be Giuliani. Fred Thompson will go over their heads to the people. Why? Because he can. None of the others can. Unless they decide to become themselves. The rest of the Republican candidates are just filler, spending millions with absolutely no chance of being the next president. So please drop out. This nation is starving.

Let me repeat that, because I find that important: THIS NATION IS STARVING.

This nation is starving not because of lack of food, but because of lack of leadership and the sense that there is a desperate need for a PERSON as president. The moral Petri dish of Hillary Clinton will become the next Nixon, I guarantee that. If this thing is elected, it will come into office with an enemies list. Her campaign has already taken money from Communist China, and probably worked to rob a woman of a manuscript highly critical of the Clintons. We do not need another Plumbers, folks. (Those of you who don't understand that reference, please go get a latte.)

What we need is a father figure that can lead us into the future, not into the partisan garbage that bacteria like Chuck Schumer personifies. This nation does not need to heal, it needs to pound an iron fist into the next decade, saying "ENOUGH". Fred Thompson has actual strength and conviction. But let's take the extreme cynic's point of view: Let's say he's lying and has an agenda (or even lack of one). Compared to Bush, we need someone in the White House that personifies the presidents of old, the great communicators, and not the leftist skipped records like Mrs. Bill Clinton, Barack Hussein Obama and Joan Edwards (misspelling intended).

We, meaning this nation, are on the verge of being absorbed into a world government. If you want that, knock yourself out. Literally, if necessary. The truth is, we have no control over that. I'd rather be guided into oblivion, then, by someone like Fred Thompson than cynical, two-dimensional hand puppets.

What do you want?

“We do not need another Plumbers, folks.”

MAJOR DIFFERENCE:
The largely Gay MSM (They don’t call the NY Times editorial staff “The Gay Mafia” for nothing) will give her a omplete pass, unlike Nixon.

As a Democrat, she can (and Has) get away with ANY high crime. The MSM is already doing everything they can to cover her constant flip-flopping on the war, and you haven’t seen ANYTHING yet!

Yep....FRed is the answer, but too many are looking for "perfection" on their pet issues, and support un-electable candidates which removes the power of HUGE numbers and appeal to non-Republican base voters.

Without the charisma and appeal of a man-on-the-street type candidate, we will have the Hildabeast in '08.....count on it.

Reagan continued to fund the Contras (against public sentiment). If you want majority opinion to run the country, then I say put revoking-women's-drivers-licenses on the next ballot (hahahaha)

Hear, hear! It explains much; why an obviously authoritative and commensurately communicative candidate is virtually ignored by those who should be supporting his campaign. Well said; America is starving. Fred Thompson could trump all of them without compromising one shred of his integrity or views.
