Consider An American Ayatollah in the White House (Barf Alert!)

The National Public Radio (NPR) website today (10/2/07) reports a discussion on their daily radio show, “All Things Considered”, about the religious right’s new stand on the possibility of Rudy Giuliani winning the Republican presidential nomination:

“This weekend in Salt Lake City, Utah, a group of leading social conservatives — all members of an organization called the Council for National Policy, agreed on a resolution: If the Republican Party nominates a “pro-abortion” candidate, the group will consider running a third-party candidate.”

From the context of the NPR article, and because of the quotation marks around it, it is difficult to determine if the “Council for National Policy” actually used the term “pro-abortion” or if this was the terminology used on the radio show, but either way it is a fabrication and a misrepresentation of Giuliani’s stand on the abortion issue. Rudy Giuliani has stated very clearly that he is personally opposed to abortion but has no intention of supporting laws that take the “choice” of abortion away from others; he is NOT pro-abortion, he is pro-choice and its about time we separate those two very different things in the public debate.

The anti-abortion folks, such as the despicable Council for National Policy and the equally loathsome Christian Coalition Network refuse to consider the option of allowing Americans to make their own decisions about things like abortion or marriage. On these two subjects in particular, they want the entire population of the United States to think and act just as they do and they are willing to revise the United States Constitution to get their way. That is a dangerous bit of vanity they are engaged in. And this is not just rhetoric on my part — they already have anti-gay marriage amendments in the majority of state constitutions and they have pushed hard for an anti-abortion amendment.

While we’re getting terminology straight — for the ‘crime’ of labeling the Council for National Policy and the Christian Coalition Network as despicable and loathsome I will, no doubt, be considered by many to be an anti-religionist but that is also a misrepresentation. I am not opposed to religion or an enemy of those who are religious; I’m a pragmatic atheist who understands and supports religion (with the possible exception of Islam — the jury is still out on that one) as a force that holds many lives together and that has an overall positive effect on society. What I strongly oppose is not religion but religious dictators like those in the Council and the Coalition — dictators who want to force religion ‘down the throats’ of all Americans through Constitutional amendments or legislation.

It will be absolutely wonderful if Giuliani does get the Republican party nomination and forces the extreme-right religionists to make good on their threat of forming a third party — the wonderful part will be watching them ‘go down in flames’. The ‘devils brew’ of ultra-conservative Christianity and politics has already torn the Republican party asunder; I don’t imagine there are a whole lot of folks who want to see what it can do to the country with an American Ayatollah in the White House.

I wonder what this idiot says about Obama's remarks this weekend?

Well then the same argument can be made for gun control, vegetarianism, or what-have-you...

If that's how we're gonna play it, the libs should be pro-choice when it comes to owning guns, eating meat, or polluting the atmosphere.

Such hypocrites...

The ‘devils brew’ of ultra-conservative Christianity

So the left's 'angels' are those who condone murdering 'masses of human tissue' by the millions because it's 'convenient', but Scott Peterson and his ilk deserve to live.

B!tches' Brew, indeed - in time for Halloween.

If the Republican Party nominates a “pro-abortion” candidate, the group will consider running a third-party candidate.”

Because that has worked out so well in the past, like TR running against Taft in 1912, giving the early 20th century its version of Jimmy Carter; or like in 1992, when hatred of Bush the Elder gave rise to Perot, and we got 8 years of pro-abortion, anti-gun, high-tax, appeasement foreign policy, the running down of the armed forces and BJs in the Oval Office.

Fools! You vote for your favorite candidate in the primaries. You vote to stop the greater of 2 evils in the General Election. Voting 3rd party may be principled, but it is as effective for your point of view as pissing into a Cat 5 hurricane.

The Republican Women had their national convention last week in CA...there was about 750 women there...

Their straw poll for presidential nominee was Rudi 50%, FRed 20% and the rest had just a smidgen of a percent each...

Who’d thunk that conservative women would vote in such high numbers for a anti-life etc candidate?

I wonder if anyone told this nimrod that Lieberals have their own religion complete with their own dogmas and articles of faith. They may not call it a religion, but it operates on the same principles of the inquisition and has killed far more people in the last century alone than has Christianity and all the perverted forms thereof in its entire history.

While Conservative Christians may oppose "freedom of choice" on a few narrowly defined issues such as butchering the unborn and calling a homosexual relationship "marriage", Lieberals oppose freedom of choice on a much wider range of issues-- school choice, being able to donate money to your church rather than spend it treating crack addicts, how much water to have in your toilet tank, whether to drive a Hummer or a Prius, whether skin color should trump test scores as a criteria for college admissions, who can say what 60 days before an election, etc.

Rudi's appeal is very much like John Kerry's appeal last election-- because the polls say he can beat a hated incumbent. Yeah, Hillary is the incumbent now because Bush is doing everything he can to get her elected.

Once the Democrat Lemmings were stampeded into supporting Kerry, the sheeple soon found out about the skeletons in his closet-- he was no war hero, a worthless senator and his only real accomplishment was being able to marry rich women.

While Rudi's resume is nowhere near that shallow, the enemedia will have more crap to throw at him than can now be imagined and those polls which show him competitive with the witch in states like New Jersey and Connecticut will be about as worthless as the polls showing Kerry, the war hero, would soundly defeat Bush in February of last year.

Rudy will win the west coast and the mountain west in the primaries.

He'll also win the entire northeast...a little in the mid-west...and probably Florida in the South.

Fred wins the south and most of the mid-west.

Rudy wins the nomination.

I'd like to see otherwise, but I don't see ANYONE stopping him. Fred is closest and would need a MAJOR RALLY to put a dent in Super-duper Tuesday. If Rudy is the big winner that day, it's OVER.

Since I am from Salt Lake City, I have a folder for all comments from politicians in the area labeled “local idiots.” Consider the coin with Mitt Romney on One side, and Harry Reid on the other.

Mormon trained - no leadership qualities. They are social pacifists - not leaders. They head the list for “PC.” Let’s not say anything for fear of upsetting them.

Gag and barf!

How much idiocy can be crammed into one sentence? This must be close to a record.

1)"to think just as they do" - The power of persuasion is the most fair way of passing one's agenda. I make an argument hoping to convince you to willingly go along.
2) "to act just as they do" - When the left no longer proposes or supports ANY laws intended to control my actions, I'll consider this.
3) "are willing to revise" - Since when did the religious get the right to revise the Constitution?
4) "willing to revise the Constitution" - Isn't convincing the vast majority of the country (What it takes to revise the Constitution) the correct procedure for making sure new laws are Constitutional?

Poll after polls shows the bulk of Rudy's support coming from women. Women seem to think that a Garden City-raised cream puff like Rudy is "tough."

I also think many Republican women suffer from Hillary Derangement Syndrome, and therefore would support Stalin if he was the most likely to defeat Hillary.
