President George Bush has repeated his belief all religions, "whether they be Muslim, Christian, or any other religion, prays to the same God" an assertion that caused outrage among evangelical leaders when he said it in November 2003.
Bush made the statement Friday in an interview with Al Arabiya reporter Elie Nakouzi.
Al Arabiya is Al Jazeerah's top competitor in the Mideast.
As the president and Nakouzi walked from the Oval Office to the Map Room in the White House residence, Nazouki asked, "But I want to tell you and I hope this doesn't bother you at all that in the Islamic world they think that President Bush is an enemy of Islam that he wants to destroy their religion, what they believe in. Is that in any way true, Mr. President?"
"No, it's not," said Bush. "I've heard that, and it just shows [sic] to show a couple of things: One, that the radicals have done a good job of propagandizing. In other words, they've spread the word that this really isn't peaceful people versus radical people or terrorists, this is really about the America not liking Islam.
"Well, first of all, I believe in an Almighty God, and I believe that all the world, whether they be Muslim, Christian, or any other religion, prays to the same God. That's what I believe. I believe that Islam is a great religion that preaches peace. And I believe people who murder the innocent to achieve political objectives aren't religious people, whether they be a Christian who does that we had a person blow up our blow up a federal building in Oklahoma City who professed to be a Christian, but that's not a Christian act to kill innocent people.

Mr. President. May I suggest you read the Koran in its entirety and then come back and say that, “Islam is a religion of peace”.
did you hear Dr. Dobson say that? I’ve heard him say that he said he does Not know if Fred thompson is a Christian or not. I have never met OBL /UBL BUT I do believe he is not a Christian—Never talked to him but I believe he is
evil. this is not to say anything aobut what I think about
Fred Thompson. But he is an actor and a politician and the
facade those identifiable groups put up is a factor.
The first thing a just God must do is what he SAYS he will do. As far as peoples understanding of Him being ‘completely messed up’ that isn’t something that just happens to a person, it is something that people can control. White supremacists have an understanding of God that, I’m sure, God despises. In the matter of the many disparate peoples of the globe; this is why I think it a good idea to support the Christian missionaries.
You may just as well be arguing that Bush should issue a fatwa.
You claim your hero was Martin Luther. So I suppose you are a Christian. Did you know that Christ's Father was "the Jewish God" ? You might want to have a talk with Jesus about you badmouthing His Father...
As requested by the Bush administration, the high court will hear arguments in the fall on the case of Jose Medellin to escape execution
because he was denied a chance to get legal assistance from the Mexican Consulate.
The Mexican citizen was sent to Texas death row in the notorious 1993 rape-murder case
Texas Court of Criminal Appeals said the Republican president had overstepped his authority in ordering the state court reviews.
(Hey Bush, why dont you fight that hard for Ramos, Compean, & Hernandez? I have never seen such blatant unfairness in my life.)
After six years I don't expect him to be anything other than what he is - a buffoon. He can't think his way out of paper bag.
If there really is only one God, I agree.
I think it’s really more like the guy that wrote the Koran, commands his minions...
Yes, well, baal is the supreme male divinity of the Phoenicians or Canaanites and molech is the god of the Ammonites and Phoenicians to whom some Israelites sacrificed their infants in the valley of Hinnom.
It seems that GW is taking some very weird action or position every couple days now, or making some inexplicable statement......and it's becoming rather scary.
The next presidential election can't come quickly enough for me.

“WE are free to openly scoff at the concept of “Islam is a Religion of Peace”. Our CIC is not.”
True, I agree with you that our CIC should not make negative comments about Islam. His job is to try to build bridges and be diplomatic. However, must he declare (lie) to the world that “Islam is a religion of peace”? I can’t help but think that he really believes what he says or he would at least stay silent about it.
Being from Texas, I hate to say this but Bush has proven himself to be a total fraud. This ridiculous statement, wide open Borders, persecution of LEO’s on the Border such as Ramos and Compean, the NAU, suing the State of Texas to halt the execution of a viscious killer to uphold a decision of the so-called “Internation Court of Justice, the PC conduct of the War and a host of other policies are evidense of what a fraud he really is.
“You couldn’t get a strong pro-American Christian elected.”
I agree. The Rs have sold their souls for money and the Ds for the votes of the wagon riders and ideology. In neither instance is there any room for Christianity.
“You can flame away, but it’s the truth.”
You won’t get any flaming from me.

I’m sorry, but if what you said were true, we would have a lot more problems than we do. There are over 1 Billion muslims.
I think such judgements come under the heading of “his call”. I don’t get worked up over this issue, the way others do. If he were using such inane statements as justification to cut-n-run from Iraq, that would be another matter. But he’s obviously not.
Don’t get me wrong. There’s plenty to criticize our President for. I just don’t think this is that big a deal.
I’d rather keep the issue of jailed Border Patrol Agents on the front burner and pressure Bush to pardon those two guys, and (fantasy of fantasies) fire that traitor Johnny “President’s Good Friend” Sutton.
