If you haven't seen it yet, it is a hillarious riot. He got three standing ovations!

Just in case no one has mentioned it, Fred used the word, “Hello” also. It really ticked me off, since Mitt did that months ago.
Thompson even brought his wife even though Mitt did. It never ends...
Better pick a new candidate to back P as your man has dipped on RCP’s average to his lowest point since May...
Poll Date Giuliani Thompson McCain Romney Huckabee Spread
RCP Average 28.2 22.9 15.2 9.1 4.1 +5.3
Thompson "strikes" me as an unapologetic conservative. That "strikes" me as a rarity on the national political stage.
If Thompson can hone his message in an optimistic and pro-American (may I say Reagan-like?) way, he will pass therest of the Republicans AND ALL of the Democrats like they are nailed to the ground. He will also have LONG coat tails that will dump those embarrassments, Pelosi, Reid and that fat drunken blob from Massachusetts on the ash heap of history).
In telling a joke, timing is everything. Senator Thompson’s timing was better.
I’m not remotely interested in voting for first lady.
I’m looking for a candidate for President, and I don’t see one.
Well, doesn’t Romeny have like three or four wives? I mean, one is bound to be prettier.
(Yes, joking, relax.)
In seriousness, Mitt is almost as pretty as Edwards. Even better hair.
This was retold to me as a Jay Leno joke:
Leno listed all of the Republican front runners and commented: You know it's kind of ironic, Mitt Romney is the only Republican candidate who's only had one wife.
That is just stupid.
It’s such an unusual sentiment, I am sure two people couldn’t come up with it. *Rolling eyes*
Set aside some time to watch some video if you can, Fred has the ability to speak without notes and hit on his themes without it feeling “forced”. If you watch the “homecoming” speach in Lawrencburg, I think you will find exactly what you are looking for.

I’m not a FredHead, but that was a good one. Chalk one up for Fred.
Yeah, but that would ruin a perfectly good slur!
Fred misunderstands that millions of Americans want Bill Clinton as “First Lady”. They can’t wait for the clowning theatrics to resume at 1600 PA Avenue on Jan. 20, 2009. They are celebrity-oriented, and Bill is the most popular celebrity ever.....
There are people who will belittle anything Romney says because “Romney said it”.
It’s not logical, but it is, and being illogical can’t be argued with.
Fred Thompson has spent the most of his one career being scripted. He’s spent the last three years being scripted. When he was having trouble in his first campaign, he came up with a good role to play, and did it very well.
And you think ROMNEY is the one who sounds scripted? Maybe so — a good actor is one that makes the script seem real.
What double standard?
ROmney’s joke was given to you in print. How could the timing possibly be known from that?
As to what others have said, they are not “exactly” the same joke.
Of course, what I should ask is why you all think Thompson told a “joke”?
Don’t you think his wife would be a better first lady than Bill Clinton? If so, it’s not a joke at all.
Romney, on the other hand, told a real joke, because it is “funny” to compare the looks of Bill Clinton and his wife.
It’s not at all funny to compare Jeri’s abilities as first lady with Bill Clinton’s.
But apparently many Thompson supporters think it really funny to suggest Jeri is a better first lady than Bill Clinton.
Romney is also very comfortable speaking without notes, doesn’t hesitate (what some are calling that “reassuring pause” thompson uses), and has a firm grasp of intricate details of what he’s talking about.
But of course, you added that phrase “without it feeling forced”. Which simply adds a subjective aspect to your comparison, one which Romney can’t overcome because you will say you find him “forced”, even though he doesn’t sound forced at all, but rather natural, as if what he is saying is exactly what he is thinking.
ROFL!!
