The Fred Thompson Meltdown Continues
JoshuaPundit ^ | 7/30/07 | Freedom Fighter

Posted on 07/30/2007 12:59:48 PM PDT by pissant

As more and more of his potential supporters learn about Fred Thompson's choice of open borders advocate and pro-Islamist ex-senator and lobbyist Spencer Abraham as his campaign manager, Thompson's luster as th egreat GOP savior has begun to dim precipitously.

Latest to weigh in are Dymphna at Gates of Vienna, Elaine at Aaron's Rod ( who removed all the Blogs For Fred links to her site) and Deb at Right Truth.

And Michelle Malkin also did a short bit with Laura Ingraham on her national show.

As I said in my piece, no one who's serious about winning the War Against Jihad would want a tool like Abraham anywhere near him.Either Thompson was ignorant about Abraham's background, which means he lacks the judgment to be president, or he knew about it and appointed Abraham anyway...which means that no one who's serious about fighting this war or controlling the borders should remotely consider supporting him.

I think we're done with stealth candidates who talk the talk but don't walk the walk.

Dear jellybean,

“If you’ve flipped as many FRedHeads to Hunter as you claim, I’d like to know who they are so I can remove them from the FRed List.”

Well, I guess I'm a "FredHead" who hasn't flipped.

Actually, as much as I like Duncan Hunter (I would be supporting him now if Mr. Thompson weren’t in the mix), and as much as I once liked pissant, pissant’s “assistance” of Mr. Hunter here at Free Republic makes me feel hostile toward Mr. Hunter.

Should Mr. Thompson falter, I’ll still support Mr. Hunter, because he doesn’t deserve to lose support because of the crap spewed forth by pissant.

But it takes an effort to maintain that perspective.

"Folks have been flocking to our side. Come now and be one of the first."

LOL

That's pissant logic, for sure.

I've been feeling the same way for a while now.

thanks for the link, b9, i was on vaca last week and not able to keep up with developments. i would be interested in hearing pissant’s explanation, since he is so quick to find fault with any and everything FRED, to this puzzling campaign funds question.

Raise a gun and scream “death to the CFR?”

Perhaps he can borrow Spence Abraham's scimitar!

He's got nothing. If anyone had flipped they'd already have asked off the list. You'd already know about it. The only thing he's flipped is his gums. He's living up to his name, now his reputation, and is eager for attention. And this is the only way he can get it. Pitiful, IMHO.

i agree, sitetest. i have nothing against Duncan, personally, but his supporters on FR are, more often than not, nasty. it does Hunter no favor.

You posted the PAC thread to bash Fred.

Hunter’s PAC money may be the very reason he’s running for POTUS ~ to be able to fund his son’s congressional seat.

I take it that you don’t ascribe to pinging FReepers when you mention them? I can only assume that I have caused you some discomfort by pointing out to Hunter campaign donors that their donation will wind up supporting a Hunter, alright, just not Duncan. When he and his non-campaign drop out of the presidential race, all of his PAC money will go to Duncan Dwayne—perfectly legal, but not the same.

But first, wait for the shake.

“When asked about his membership in CFR, he sidestepped the issue.”

No, he did not. He correctly pointed out that there are a number of conservatives who are members of the of the group and that membership does not imply agreement with policy.

“The fact that he’s a member at all should give one pause.”

Why, merely being a member does not mean one agrees with the Wilsonian leaning of the group. There are a number of solid conservatives who are members. I think that it is a good thing that they are so they can provide a dissenting voice in the academic discussion over foreign policy. This is another Red Herring argument that is used to smear someone instead of critiquing that person’s actual policy.

No, it's been out there for some time. I ran into him some time ago. Wasn't impressed then, not now.

He's about as ridiculous as the Ronettes, but in a different, more seedy way.
