We are holding Rudy and Mitt to the fire about their past on abortion. Lets not forget Fred Thompson.
Abortions should be legal in all circumstances as long as the procedure is completed within the first trimester of the pregnancy. Link
A very strong statement from Fred Thompson when he was running for congress.
So you say.
The personal attacks are coming from both sides, but only being dealt with on one side.
This thread is a prefect example.
We’ll feel free to do the same with the anti-Fred attacks, OK?
You go first, since you raised the accusation.
I did say "both sides".
And it'd not just here, nor did it just start today.
If you want to start a flame war, do it with out me. This is the attitude I was talking about.
IMO that's the worst of all--the protectionist stuff is just schoolyard nonsense.
BTW, while I support Hunter, I have never posted anything attacking Thompson. I’m still learning about him and I am not prepared to discount him.
When I said both sides, I was refering to the Thompson supporters versus anyone who hasn’t jumped on the Fred bandwagon.
Fred has a lot to prove, especially since he’s supposedly drawing people from the current administration. That’s down right scary on a number of counts.
"I liked him better when he was a drunk."
The Mods felt it was acceptable.
Ok...I read that bill, over and over. Can someone explain to me what he voted for in regular english terms, so I can see if I have a semi-basic understanding? Please and thank you.
Hunter's an awesome candidate...it's his total lack of organization and fundraising that rots.
which bill, the website lists 50 of his votes?
I got a freepmail with a link to this thread from some whiner bemoaning the demise of the newbie blogpimper (not that there's anything wrong with that, but that is what he's doing) rob21. I would like to post what I wrote back:
I was going to post back a bunch of stuff about the errors in your freepmail, but I'll just put that aside and go for brevity:Anyone who thinks these Fred quotes from '94 mean anything is a complete, drooling moron.
This crap is so irrelevant that it qualifes as disinformation even before they start lying about it. Any time JimRob boots someone who's lying about ANY candidate, I will stand up and cheer.
The biggest difference between Thompson and McCAin/Bush is the latter two have CONTEMPT for their base, and Thompson doesent (as far as we know).
The only one that has everyone up in arms against Thompson. 086
Key Vote Summary for 086

“Hunter’s an awesome candidate...it’s his total lack of organization and fundraising that rots.”
That is like the football coach years ago that said except for not being able to tackle, pass, catch or play defense, we’ve got a great team!
The Fred Thompson-George W. Bush comparisons are going to arise soon enough. You can bet on it. The two come across waaaay too similar for it not to happen.
I don’t know how well it will hold. Thompson is a lot of things Bush isn’t. But they also have a heck of a lot in common. The way they talk, their straightforwardness, their policies on Iraq, Fred’s ties to the Washington elite...
We shall see. I think Thompson is probably a strong enough candidate to fend off a lot of that, but it remains to be seen.
Shrug.
Point 1) Are we discussing candidates for the presidency of the United States, or for the salvation of the GOP? I'll take the Republic over a political party, thanks.
Point 2) You wrote "makes statements" which disingenuously posits the present tense, yet use an incredibly old questionnaire Thompson doesn't even remember filling out to back yourself up.
A lot of politicians say things one way, and then vote another, usually to the detriment of those who supported them. Here you put forth the opposite, one answering a frickin' inconsequential questionnaire one way, and then voting the way his supporters would like him to.
Pathetic.
People can and do sincerely change their minds regarding issues, can they not?
>>>What he SAID many years ago was made up for by what he actually DID in Congress. <<<
Mitt Romney vetoed every single pro-abort law the Massachusetts legislature sent to him. He is just as conservative as Fred Thompson. If you want to play fair. ;) But I have a feeling a lot of you guys don’t. :)
