allowing abortion in the event of a mother losing her life is not inconsistent with pro-life beliefs.

According to who? you're merely making excuses for your candidate.

will you support Thompson if he wins the nomination?

I don’t think Fred will want his support. I don’t think Duncan wants it either.

What he calls support is positively Carvillian.

What house of cards? How hard is it for you to understand? I am glad that he has a pro-life voting record, but I do not trust him especially since he has so many pro-abortion quotes out there.

I understand that you really want Fred’s remarks to go away, I do. But you can’t just sweep them under the rug, he DID say these things. No matter how many times you people call me a liar, it won’t change the fact that I am not lying.

“I will not go away, and I don’t use merely “decent” arguments.”

That is a tacit admission of the fact that you are not using decent arguments.

If the mother dies from the pregnancy, does that make him pro-death? No. If the baby dies instead, does that make him pro-death? No.

I would side with the baby in this rare circumstance, but you can’t say that he’s not pro-life just because he would side with the mother according to this questionaire.

“will you support Thompson if he wins the nomination?”

I will be supporting the most conservative candidate. If Fred Thompson is the most conservative, I will support him. If a third party guy is more conservative I will support him instead.

God Bless Duncan Hunter. I am sure he is as true of a conservative as any running. But he has NO CHANCE IN HELL.

Why?

Surely not because he is inarticulate... Bush was that and worse, yet he won.

Surely not because he is a politician from Calfornia... Reagan was that and he won.

Surely not because any good conservative can find fault with his message... his is about the best out there...

Then why?

Simply stated... he does not have a campaign!

He has wasted opportunity after opportunity, he has neglected his base of natural volunteers around the country, he has not fundraised to even the degree to which any other candidate has... he is dead last.

How did that happen? Simple. He hired morons and snake oil salesmen... ehr... saleswoman.. to be precise... and they have done utterly nothing except take his money and laugh as he sits at the bottom of the tank holding his breath.

This started when he put his son in charge of his campaign and it went out of the prying pan into the fire thereafter.

In short, Duncan Hunter is without question the most politically naive and incompetent man running.

God Bless him... as I sincerely wish this were not the case...

I agree that Duncan Hunter is a long shot, but that doesn’t mean we should give up on him. He is the most conservative candidate and all conservatives should support him in the primary. If Fred Thompson does win the nomination, then fine, support him. But at least then you can say that you did your best to nominate the most conservative candidate.

You do realize that Ronald Reagan wasn't always anti-abortion?

I judge people by their actions, not just words alone.

Even you can't deny that Fred Thompson has a perfect pro-life voting record. Those are his actions.

You are looking more and more like a shill as opposed to a good objective conservative who wants to see many candidates that share our views. I like Hunter. I like Thompson. I want to see more candidates like those two in the race.

You, on the other hand, have all of your eggs in Hunter's basket.

Since I have asked you twice already if you would supprt Thompson if he is the nominee, and both times you have refused to answer, I have to ask you one more time;

Will you support Fred Thompson if he wins the nomination?

If you refuse again, you are disqualified from serious debate for lack of objectivety, among other possibilities.

Past statements by Fred Thompson actually matter to me because I am not obsessed with promoting Fred!

But you're obsessed with tearing him down though.

All of your hysteria can not hide the simple fact that this quote WILL matter to people who are undecided.

There's no hysteria, just disbelief that one would say that Fred is pro-abortion over a libertarian statement a long time ago that has been made irrelevant by his voting record and subsequent pro-life statements.

You have to be one of the most annoying fredbots.

You've got to be irritated with someone who lays bare your smear tactics.

At least the other ones try to make decent arguments, but you just sit there and make one liners from the sidelines.

Sidelines? LOL Your credibility is shot. One-liners? You wish it were so.

Please go away.

No.

“Even you can’t deny that Fred Thompson has a perfect pro-life voting record. Those are his actions.”

I don’t deny it. But you can’t deny the fact that Thompson has made pro-abortion statements in the past, and that does trouble me. It might not bother you, but to me that shows that he is not serious about being pro-life. I have nothing against you if you disagree with me on this, but it’s what I believe.

“You, on the other hand, have all of your eggs in Hunter’s basket.”

I am a conservative and I am not ashamed to admit the fact that I support the most conservative candidate. I wish that Thompson was more conservative, but he’s not. Wishing it were true does not make it so.

“Will you support Fred Thompson if he wins the nomination?”

I already answered that. I know that it’s not the answer you wanted to hear, but it is my honest answer. I will be supporting the most conservative candidate.

I have yet to make any firm selection... January is a long way off still.

But without regard to my choice... Duncan may not even be on the ballot if he continues to do poorly this summer.

It is an explicit statement that my arguments are not merely decent, but rather superbly effective at laying bare your smears and generally ruining your anti-Fred thread.

You’re kind of funny anyway. This is one of the few times that I have actually laughed out loud at a post.

Weasel? I said “merely decent” because I meant it. The fact that you didn’t understand until I explained it to you does not represent a change on my part.

You’re really out of your depth here.

Talk about 'weaseling out'...what does that mean in reality?

Define "most conservative".
