God Bless Duncan Hunter. I am sure he is as true of a conservative as any running. But he has NO CHANCE IN HELL.
Why?
Surely not because he is inarticulate... Bush was that and worse, yet he won.
Surely not because he is a politician from Calfornia... Reagan was that and he won.
Surely not because any good conservative can find fault with his message... his is about the best out there...
Then why?
Simply stated... he does not have a campaign!
He has wasted opportunity after opportunity, he has neglected his base of natural volunteers around the country, he has not fundraised to even the degree to which any other candidate has... he is dead last.
How did that happen? Simple. He hired morons and snake oil salesmen... ehr... saleswoman.. to be precise... and they have done utterly nothing except take his money and laugh as he sits at the bottom of the tank holding his breath.
This started when he put his son in charge of his campaign and it went out of the prying pan into the fire thereafter.
In short, Duncan Hunter is without question the most politically naive and incompetent man running.
God Bless him... as I sincerely wish this were not the case...
I agree that Duncan Hunter is a long shot, but that doesn’t mean we should give up on him. He is the most conservative candidate and all conservatives should support him in the primary. If Fred Thompson does win the nomination, then fine, support him. But at least then you can say that you did your best to nominate the most conservative candidate.
Rachel, good points, and it goes farther than that. Hunter failed to capitalize on the Internet, instead thinking that the MSM was going to give him some time. When he finally created his website, it looked like something out of the 80s. There were no links to donate, no bumper stickers, the famous quotation mark grammar error etc.
Plus he declared way too early. How can someone declare their candidacy for the Presidency when the mid-terms weren't even done yet? He should have simply waited until April or May and the grassroots would have responded.
And finally, the man has been in Congress for 26 years. He couldn't have at least ran for CA Governor or challenged Feinstein or Boxer for the Senate? If he had he would have likely won.
BS!
He is the most "under rated, under MSM promoted, formidable candidate out there.
However since when he does get a chance to show himself, he is what a POTUS should be and is laid back and lets others speak their mind, for this he is considered naive?
When he can speak he does make sense and is impressive.
JMO.
Not while Daniel James Barnett is in the race
Who were these people?
