Abortion - Don't just hold Rudy and Mitt accountable, remember Fred
Spark it Up ^ | June 24, 2007

We are holding Rudy and Mitt to the fire about their past on abortion. Lets not forget Fred Thompson.

Abortions should be legal in all circumstances as long as the procedure is completed within the first trimester of the pregnancy. Link

A very strong statement from Fred Thompson when he was running for congress.

I only claimed that he made pro-choice statements in the past, which is true.

Not quite, sparky.

Earlier you said "No thanks, I’d rather not support a pro-death candidate."

Insofar as that implies Fred Thompson is a pro-death candidate, the statement is a lie and an attempt to smear a good conservative.

It’s all one paragraph, all one thought. You’re obviously referring to his statement about terrorism. Only now are you twisting it around.

You’ve twisted Fred’s words, Spiff’s words, now you’re twisting your own words. Amazing.

When a newb like you uses slimy tactics to attack a conservative candidate, you're going to get it with both barrels.

Now they are trying to make it seem like only “idiots” oppose Fred Thompson.

If you're representative of those who oppose Fred Thompson, then it is no wonder that some may think that only idiots oppose him.

A thread that seems to have been intended to slip by, and live under the radar as a smear against Fred has instead turned into an effective indictment of anti-Fred desperation.

That’s gotta sting a little bit. ;OD

The statements ARE pro-abortion. There is no way for them to be construed otherwise.

They're not. THEY ARE SIMPLY NOT PRO-ABORTION. Fred still believed that there should be no government money for abortions, that there should be parental consent, and the issue returned to the states (reversing Roe vs Wade). At that time, that is as pro-life as you're going to get.

Now I can see that you are trying really hard to get me banned or something, but how can you keep accusing me of lying about his record?

LYING ABOUT HIS RECORD IS AGAINST THE RULES HERE? WHAT PART OF THAT DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND?

I have never claimed that he has a pro-choice voting record, I only claimed that he made pro-choice statements in the past, which is true.

But why are you so focused on statements made when his voting record and current statements say otherwise?

"You got nothing. NOTHING!"

“Insofar as that implies Fred Thompson is a pro-death candidate, the statement is a lie and an attempt to smear a good conservative.”

It’s not a lie considering the fact that Fred Thompson himself stated that he supports abortion!

Throughout this thread, you fredbots have been accusing me of lying about his voting record , which I haven’t.

It would be lying if I stated that he voted FOR taxpayer funding for abortion when he actually didn’t. You’ll note that I have never said anything of the sort.

I do not think that he is serious about being pro-life, which is an honest difference of opinion. But don’t accuse me of lying just because I disagree with you.

So far I’ve been called an idiot, I’ve been called a terrorist, I’ve had people attempt to get me banned. This is all from different people.

Think "common denominator". ; )

Fred Thompson is not a pro-death candidate. Any such claim is a lie.

I have to give you credit, you are REALLY GOOD at spinning other people’s statements.

This is what I said:

“Wow. I’m promoting terrorism by opposing Fred Thompson? I think that everyone needs to read this thread so that they can see just how the fredbots really think. This is really scary.”

Note the fact that I did not say “everyone needs to read this POST so that they can see how the fredbots really think.” I said that everyone needs to read this THREAD so that they can see how the fredbots think. Nice try. Go away until you can come up with a decent argument.

Duncan Hunter only thought that it should happen in the rare event that the woman’s life is in jeopordy.

Aha, this is only your personal logic to sanction abortion at a time where you personally think it's OK.

Fred Thompson's actions are 100% pro-life, you have built a house of cards and now you see them fall.

BTW, I like Duncan Hunter very much as a great conservative, but I agree with EEE that you and others do your candidate a major disservice by trying to parse words about other candidates.

Will you support Thompson if he wins the nomination?

“But why are you so focused on statements made when his voting record and current statements say otherwise?”

Ummm... maybe because I’M NOT A FREDBOT! Past statements by Fred Thompson actually matter to me because I am not obsessed with promoting Fred! All of your hysteria can not hide the simple fact that this quote WILL matter to people who are undecided.

Go away until you can come up with a decent argument.

I will not go away, and I don't use merely "decent" arguments.

You're effort to smear Fred has blown up in your face, and I'm proud to have been a part of that.

“Aha, this is only your personal logic to sanction abortion at a time where you personally think it’s OK.”

No, I do not think that abortion is OK in that circumstance, I’m merely stating that allowing abortion in the event of a mother losing her life is not inconsistent with pro-life beliefs.

I do not think that abortion should be allowed in the event that a mother’s life is in jeopardy, but I can understand why someone would think that.

However, I do not understand how someone can think that abortion is a woman’s choice like Fred Thompson claimed to think.

Duncan Hunter IS a great conservative (though I don’t like his pork barrel attitudes), but he’s not going to win this time.

It is truly a shame to see someone try to pull crap like this in the man’s name. I think Hunter would tell the poor n00b to STFU (in so many words) if he knew about this.

“I will not go away, and I don’t use merely “decent” arguments.”

So the only way you can criticize me is by twisting my words? At least you can admit it.

Oh, by the way, Duncan who?

He's the one who would make for as great a POTUS as Fred Thompson but has a lesser chance of achieving it.

Look into it, Duncan is pretty decent too.

I'm with Fred!

I like Hunter a lot. I like his press-op feasting on the Gitmo menu. I like his conservatism and his war record. But he's not going to win.

If he knew of what our poor n00b was doing on this thread in his name, I suspect he'd issue a polite (or semi-polite) STFU.
