Now I know that Southerners have finally assimilated into the common culture when a Tennessean (from which the March-to-the-Sea began) can quote General Sherman.

On the the horizon to the left of The Big Chicken stands Kennesaw Mountain, where Sherman was stopped for a few days during the Atlanta Campaign.
The old breastworks at the foot of the mountain are still discernible today.

Are you saying that their posting activity shows up, even if they are in Salt River?
Interesting...

"The decision was made, and we live with it, or we don't."

IMO, there was no purge.
That site was up and running 5/6 weeks before the 20k + post thread was started.
Many of them were posting under different screen names, which were changed to their FR names later.

They made a very loud, and very public exit, probably to draw attention to the site.

So...there was no purge.
They made the decision to leave.

It was a mutiny.

This membership application form does not grant immediate access to the site. All membership applications are reviewed by an administrator before acceptance. You are not guaranteed access to the application by filling out this form.

Exactly the point I was going to make.
They screen their members, so it's not true that anyone can access Salt River.

Glad to see you finally admit it exists, sofaman.

Never realized that. Makes sense now.

Some of them left in a show of righteous indignation after things started dying down.
IMO, it was just another way to draw attention.

I think they had every intention to leave well before that.

From what I can tell, being a real conservative (fiscal AND social) is probably a sure-fire way to get black-balled.

I also notice they have a system for "sinking" threads; from what I could tell the last time I visited, most threads relating to immigration were pushed off the front page. I can recall another forum that attempted such a system (LF) and IMO it was a disaster. I appreciate the fact that this site self regulates what appears on the front page based upon user demand - not the whims of a few moderators or posters.

You know it, seems to me if I was a member of a forum where I didn’t really like or agree with most of the people, I would just leave. No juvenile theatrics, just quit.

These WAckos are just a bunch of whining little babies.

They use “stickies” over there to keep certain threads on top. I have been involved in other forums that are of a technical nature and the stickies are very helpful to immediately access help files, etc., but the WAckos are using them to push certain news items over others.

Are you saying that their posting activity shows up, even if they are in Salt River?

You can try the links that I posted in #70, although if sofaman has been active over there since then it would probably have changed.

Otherwise, you can just pick any anti-FReeper WAcko and do a search on their name and it will tell you the last time they were active. Then you go to the advanced search and in the "Discussion comment search" put their name in the author section (leave everything else blank) and it will show you the last thing they said that the public can view. In sofaman's case, his public post was two days old, but he had been active ten hours before.

That's the problem with forums that use "open source" type software as opposed to writing their own (like Jim Robinson and even the DUmmies have done), they cannot hide their activity even though we can't see what they're doing.
