Now I know that Southerners have finally assimilated into the common culture when a Tennessean (from which the March-to-the-Sea began) can quote General Sherman.

On the the horizon to the left of The Big Chicken stands Kennesaw Mountain, where Sherman was stopped for a few days during the Atlanta Campaign.
The old breastworks at the foot of the mountain are still discernible today.

Shhh.. my fellow Tennesseans will run me outta town on a rail. Uncle Billy gets no love down here.

Contrary to some Southerners I consider myself an American first, although you can't get much more country than Wise County VA where I was born.

I've been using that quote from Sherman to his quartermaster because to me it typifies the kind of all-out determination-- and dare I say ruthlessness-- that America's politicians are lacking in the waging of war.

I'm extremely proud of our military and I'm sure there are military leaders like Sherman today..Washington just needs to take the muzzles off them and let warriors be warriors.
