According to some reports, Cho Seung-Hui, the man suspected in the killings at Virginia Tech, may have written Islamic references on himself prior to the shootings:
Sources [said] that the words "ISMAIL AX" were also found written in red ink on the inside of one of Cho's arms.
The reference may be to the Islamic account of the Biblical sacrifice of Abraham, where God commands the patriarch to sacrifice his own son. Abraham begins to comply, but God intervenes at the last moment to save the boy.
In the Jewish and Christian traditions, the son is Isaac, father of the Jewish people; in Islam, it is his brother, Ismail (Ishmael in Hebrew).
Abraham uses a knife in most versions of the story, but some accounts have him wielding an ax.
A more obscure reference may be to a passage in the Koran referring to Abraham's destruction of pagan idols; in some accounts, he uses an ax to do so.

Perhaps, but little is known yet about this guy.
And to be clear, I’m not blaming his religion. But who knows who has influenced this guy. It probably would have been easy to befriend him and influence him, if he’s so isolated.
I’m not suggesting he was an activated Al Qaeda cell.
Maybe it was cheat notes for a test he was scheduled to take?
That post has been deleted. Can you paraphrase it for us?
It seems it was pulled because it was inaccurate.
Ismail in that case is the last name of the author of an article published in the Journal of Mathamatical Analysis.
You said — “Cant you understand why this would be the case?”
I know you were commenting to another person, but it’s a public question, too.
Yes, I can understand why and I followed those other cases that you mentioned. In those cases, I think the officials were suppressing that kind of information.
HOWEVER, in this particular case, I do not see that it’s like those others that you mention. I don’t see that this kind of stuff is being suppressed or “talked down” — as I saw in those other ones. In this one, it seems more “open” and people are talking about whatever information is there.
I don’t think anyone is jumping to conclusions just yet. It may also be that they are not suppressing information like officials were in those other cases, basically because the information doesn’t point there. So — in other words — *there’s nothing to suppress*!
But, we will see in the coming days and weeks.

You are correct in your statements
And I agree about your statement “This is nothing like the chaos in third world countries. We dont have the disease, the poverty, the misery”.
However we do have Govt that would disagree with that. It is only that we have become our own victims by the people we elected... But that is another post
I know I prayed hard last night for the families of the victims and for the shooter, for our nation at large...
No country is perfectly safe from anything I know that...
I also know that I still believe this is the best place in the world to call home... It is just ashamed that the people we give refuge too who do not like their homes and need to come here to better themselves do more damage in one day here.... And yet we keep letting them come in, because we are free and want others to be free and experience life in the greatest nation of all!
If there is an angle connecting this troubled young man to Islam, political correctness must not be allowed to keep that information from the light of day.
Bravo!
It is a testament to our incredible bounty that we consider having only one tv and an old car as “poor”.
We are blessed here.
You said — “My problem is that some have already come to the conclusion that RELIGION was the motivating factor in these murders.”
Yep, some definitely have. They are *so zealous* for pointing out the evil of Islamic terrorism that they are looking for it under every rock and in every crack in the wall — no matter where.
They make me think of this little “word picture” that I’ve conjured up in my head...
I see a guy down on his hands and knees, poring over the ground and picking up rocks and looking for tiny, little itty-bitty pieces of evidence — something, anything! When you ask what he’s doing, he’ll tell you about the evils of Islamic terrorism (and they are evil, to be sure). And he’ll tell you that he’s tracking down these pieces of evidence of how they are infiltrating our society over here (and they surely are...).
And as you talk to him and he moves along on his hands and knees, staring intently at the ground, he pauses and raises up slightly and asks another guy (standing right there in front of him) to move over please, as he wants to examine these other rocks for Islamic terrorist connections.
What he doesn’t see is that he’s talking to a real, live Islamic terrorist, complete with all the identifying markers and has the sword in his hand, with it ready to come right down on his head. He’s been looking so intently at these tiny details and scavenging so much — he’s missed the real terrorist in front of him.
Next scene — “whack” and off goes his head...
End of my little word-picture story.

Part of it is here. It may have been pulled for the reason stated here, since it referred to this part.

...or maybe we search diligently because we already see the guy with sword... and although he’s on another continent, we know he has sent his like-minded minions amongst us, because he has done it before.
You said — “Some bizarre play the guy wrote.”
Yep, no two-page note — just his bizarre play that he wrote. And it is weird. It may give some insight to the kinds of things he can think up and may think about.

It was pulled because the quote in question referred to Obama, not the shooter. The posted indicated that after the fact.
Well I must be close to Bill Gates then, for I live in a trailer with 3 tv’s an x-box and a game-cube and 2 old cars!
Living high on the hog!
;)
Thanks. I just happened upon that reply earlier and didn’t look at any further replies.
The real terrorist looms so large that there’s no need to go nitpicking for details, in obscure places. He’s there, in front of us, and provides us with *so much* information that we are embarassingly flooded with details about terrorism, so much so that it seems we can’t keep up with what is right in front of us.
I would suggest keeping on track with Islamic terrorism with what is directly in front of us.
Leave the nutballs and the other crazies to the psychiatrists. Concentrate on Islamic terrorism.

Where’s the source information for that?

What? Surely you jest! America get off it's Oprah, Fantasy Island, give me mine, ass? I doubt it. If America has "moved on" past September 11th, do you think they will react to this? By next week, this will be as old as the civil war.
