Don Imus : Lesson Learned

Friday, Apr. 13th, 2007

Don Imus made some very objectionable comments, as everyone on Earth knows at this point. He insulted a group of athletes and offended an entire race of people. But there is something we need to keep in perspective. Don Imus is a human being. Don Imus is not a racist. He has run charities and contributed millions to help others. He is not perfect. And neither is anyone else. Let's be honest about that.

Al Sharpton is a sick individual. Don Imus apologized over and over what he said. His apologies were heartfelt and meaningful. Imus went on Sharpton's radio program in an attempt to give an explanation and to apologize. Was there any acceptance of that apology? No.

Al Sharpton claims to be a Man of God...a preacher. What did Christ say on the Cross as he died? "Forgive them, Father, for they know not what they do." Christ didn't ask for vengeance and the destruction of his killers. He asked for their forgiveness and redemption. What is Al Sharpton teaching us in this respect? Sharpton teaches us that asking for forgiveness from someone like himself is useless. Apologizing is only the beginning of humilation, soon leading to personal destruction. Going on Al Sharpton's radio show was a big mistake. All it did was get Sharpton what he really wanted: Publicity.

Don Imus also teaches us that if you are a white male, you can't use the same racist terms people that black culture uses every day. Rap music is based on the "pimps and hos" culture prevalent in modern black society, as well as the violence that plagues inner cities. Guns are glorified as "gats". Women are potrayed as whores who should accept their positions in life (bent over). But who speaks against these forces of evil in black culture? Bill Cosby is the only one I can think of who honestly fights this subversive element. The rest (like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton) make half-hearted attempts to claim to be against the debauchery that permeates young black people in this country...and only to sway people who call them out when they hypocritically attack white people.

While watching CNN last night, I noted that a liberal had a solution for how Don Imus could gain forgiveness. Keep in mind that at that time, Imus had already been fired from MSNBC and CBS, thereby leaving him with no job. This liberal stated, "Maybe he could start another foundation and contribute money to charities he hasn't contributed to in the past?" So they have taken his livelihood away from him, ignored any good he has ever done for children, the sick, and soldiers returning from war among others....and this liberals answer is to make Imus cut them a check? This tells me that among liberals, the only way to gain forgiveness is to pay up.

Hillary Clinton is supposedly riding the anti-Imus bandwagon and will be speaking at Rutgers University on Monday - Apr. 16th. She wrote an email condemning Imus and invited women's groups to Rutgers to hear her diatribe. Oh, how high and mighty Hillary Clinton is. After Imus has been fired from his two jobs, asked for forgiveness and received it from the Rutgers University women's basketball team....Hillary Clinton will dig into Imus even more.

Remember.....forgiveness to a liberal is never complete until you are dead. Lesson Learned: Don't bother apologizing.

Imus should buy carbon offsets.

Yep. Never feed the beast.

We've know that for a long time. ....but it's reinforced regularly.

Something they are always trying to get the President to do.

If you aplogize, they will demand that you grovel.

If you grovel, they will demand that you prostrate yourself.

If you prostrate yourself, they will demand that you be fired.

If you are fired, they will demand that you be shunned by all for all time.

Once you get into the apologies, there is no limit to what will be demanded. The best course of action is to just say that you were misunderstood or people missed your point. If people want to howl, let ‘em howl. Apologizing to them is not going to make them stop.

If Don Imus told Sharpton and the gang to go to Hell from the very first day, this all would have been over long ago. Certainly it could not have turned out worse for him.

One of the saddest and most telling remarks in all of this came from Snoop Doggy when he stated that black women in the “ghetto’s” were Ho’s. He further stated that Imus was wrong not because of this but because he called “college educated women” ho’s.

This was sad. Snoop really does believe that the whole of black womanhood in the inner-city and public housing areas of our nation are whores. Without a doubt these race pimps will not go after this man for what he said.

Sad!!!

Jessie Jackson has been selling racism offsets for years.

When Texaco and Toyota “offended” racial sensibilities, Jackson offered to sell them his “newsletter” and teaching materials at a grossly inflated price (hundreds of thousands of dollars as I recall), so their people could be educated and not offend again.

After Imus has been fired from his two jobs, asked for forgiveness and received it from the Rutgers University women's basketball team....Hillary Clinton will dig into Imus even more.

Hillary has a very long memory.

The following is the text of radio personality Don Imus' speech at the Radio/TV Correspondents Association Annual Dinner, Thursday, March 21, 1996.

Thank you very much ...um... this is kind of interesting, these don't appear to be my notes....(you still have the folder I gave you? where did this come from? Well, nobody just leaves stuff like this just layin' around....(laughter)

Heh, heh, heh .. let me see if I can see what it says: "S. McDougall called again ...says bank needs check and statement; told her both were in mail, ha ha ha. Jesus, she looks stupid in those tank tops. " I think I'll just hang on to these. (laughter)

Ah, here we go. Good evening Mr. President, Mrs.Clinton, honored guests, ladies and gentlemen, radio and TV scum.

You know I think it would be fair to say, back when the Clintons first took office, if we had placed them all in a lineup -- well, not a lineup -- if we were to have speculated about which member of the First Family would be the first to be indicted... I don't mean indicted -- I meant to receive a subpoena -- everybody would have picked Roger. I mean, been there done that. Well, in the past 3 years, Socks the cat has been in more jams than Roger. Roger has been a saint. The cat has peed on national treasures. Roger hasn't. Socks has thrown up hairballs. Roger hasn't. Socks got his girlfriend pregnant and hasn't... oh no, that was Roger. And as you know, nearly every incident in the lives of the first family has been made worse by each and every person in this room of radio and television correspondents -- even innocuous incidents. For example, when Cal Ripkin broke Lou Gherig's consecutive game record, the President was at Camden Yards doin' play by play in the radio with John Miller. Bobby Bonilla hit a double, we all heard the President in his obvious excitement holler "Go Baby!" I remember commenting at the time, I bet that's not the first time he's said that. (Turns to President) Remember the Astroturf in the pickup? And my point is, there is an innocent event, made sinister by some creep in the media.

In some cases, the Clintons have not exactly helped themselves. Imagine if back in 1978 Mrs. Clinton had NOT said to Mr. Clinton, "Honey, Jim and Susan are here and they've got some river front land for these great vacation homes, maybe we can make some serious money. And he said "God I love this Reaganomics!" Or later, she'd said, "Bill, I talked to Web and he said 'put down 600 hours' and he'd said, "well, that's a lot," and she'd said, "yes, I think 60 makes more sense." And recently somebody said, "I don't know, I left them on the table in the book room."

Excerpt, click here for the rest.

I can’t help but see some irony in the fact that Sharpton threw himself into the mix.

I mean, he himself seems to have a personal disdain for nappy hair, Gawd look at the coif on him, 5 gallons of hair straightener and 10 pounds of dippity-doo.

Jesse Jackass should have been the antagonist of this whole episode, he’s the one with the nappy head.

This incident teaches us more than that.It teaches us that not only are blacks allowed to call each other things that whites can't call them but that blacks can call whites any damn thing they please and, particularly if they're "comedians" or rap "artists" they actually can (and do) *profit* from having done so.
