President Elect Thompson and Our Next Terrorist Attack
News By Us ^ | Apr 04, 07 | Bruce Walker

Posted on 04/04/2007 8:04:09 PM PDT by Josh Painter

Amyone really watching the development of politics in America today must see that Fred Thompson is really President-Elect Fred Thompson. I say that as someone who thinks Rudy Giuliani would make a great wartime president and who would also do many of the good things for America that he was able to do for New York.

The reality, however, is that even the shadow candidacy of Thompson is casting a huge shadow indeed. The online Sean Hannity poll showed Thompson getting, as an unannounced candidate, more votes that all other Republican candidates combined. Fred Thompson, as an unannounced candidate, is winning every straw poll in the South. Fred Thompson, who will soon be visiting with Republican members of Congress to discuss his possible candidacy, has been overwhelmed by senators and congressman who want to talk with him (probably because he is the best chance Republicans have of re-taking Congress.)

Will he win the general election? Fred Thompson is likeable, persuasive and savvy man. Thompson is a conservative on every major issue of the day. Democrats will nominate a Leftist, not a centrist, as their nominee. When is the last time a Leftist defeated a conservative in a presidential election? Try 1916, when Woodrow Wilson – using the Ku Klux Klan Leftist South eked by Charles Evans Hughes. That was not just the last time but the only time.

Why? The Battleground Poll, the most respected of all the polls, has consistently for many years shown that sixty percent of Americans consider themselves as “conservative” while only thirty-five percent of Americans consider themselves as “liberals” (those poll have the option of calling themselves a “moderate” or “don’t know” and choose “conservative” or “liberal” instead.)

...President Bush, at his best does not approach Fred Thompson at his worst as a communicator...

It’s what? Nine, ten months until the first primaries start?

Exactly. A lot of the candidates entered preposterously early in order to get a headstart on fundraising. That's all this is, $$$.

“Actually this is the WORST INDICTMENT of Fred Thompson, acknowledging that ALL HE CAN DO IS MAKE SPEECHES”

The author is stupid, but your an Idiot... A president’s ability to articulate and communicate the situation to country is his major contribution during times of war...

Why do you think the author ONLY mentioned speechmaking and not anything else? Because that’s the only thing FT excels at.

To say that is the only qualification not only for presidency, but to fight the war on terror is preposterous beyond words.

The author couldn’t come up with a single other thing to praise Fred about, or didn’t you notice — and this is clearly an ardent supporter.

When that’s the best reason an ardent supporter can come up with, IS an admission of FR’s total lack of qualification for the presidency.

(those poll have the option of calling themselves a “moderate” or “don’t know” and choose “conservative” or “liberal” instead.)

I take it to mean that the people who are polled are asked to label themselves. While they could choose "moderate" or "don't know" in addition to "liberal" or "conservative" they are rejecting those particular labels in favor of "liberal" or "conservative." In other words, they're rejecting the centrist label (moderate) and are choosing to pick a side rather than saying "don't know."

Giuliani Puts Democrats On Defensive

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1812252/posts

“You have to be on offense against terrorists,” Giuliani told the crowd. “Before Sept. 11, we were playing defense.”

If a Democrat wins the election, “we’ll be right back playing defense because that’s what the Democrats are doing,” he said.

Nobody thinks of themselves as a moderate then I guess, since with conservatives at 60%, and liberals at 35%, that means that next to nobody thinks of themselves as a moderate, except well maybe myself (slightly right of center on balance). You don’t really believe that do you?

Thompson and Gingrich is a force to be reckoned with..

ALL others are pretenders..

Actually Gingrich, Thompson, and Hunter are the dream team..

But even THEY will not be elected..
America's WOMEN WANT a socialist president and they WILL HAVE ONE..

BUT the dream team can prepare for 2012 after Hitlery ruins the economy..
With taxes and Universal Health Care..

And he’s right. But he isn’t the only Republican candidate thinking that way.

“Why do you think the author ONLY mentioned speechmaking and not anything else?”

In time of war, the president is not going to man the trenches... or pitch the grenade. His job as commander and chief are two fold. First it’s to accept the responsibility for the military action, and second; to rally the country and the troops. If you screw up with either of these, you loose.

The most important job of a president is to MAKE DECISIONS, not make speeches.

Fred can’t even make the decision whether or not to run for president, he was wishy washy about running before, he let John Glenn roll over him — how is he going to make the tough decisions against the terrorists.

As I said, clearly even his supporters know this that’s why they are not brining up that issue — it was stupid to bring up the terror attack — Fred’s weakest point, because he lacks toughness and decisiveness.

A president is not a figurehead, where playing one in a movie is sufficient experience.

I just thought of a great role for FT — he can be White House spokesperson for Giuliani.

Some more by Bruce Walker: Yes, The Next Reagan

because he was an extremely popular Tennessee senator, Thompson would completely sweep the South, including problematic states like Arkansas, Florida and Virginia. Thompson, like Reagan, is one of the few modern candidates who has true regional drawing power.

LOL. Your instruments are probably calibrated to anticipate the next shift in the magnetic pole, before it has actually happened. Cheers.

Some report say that he may decide in late summer, some reports say maybe may, who really knows, but, I will guess a few weeks after he meets Republican Congressional members in that meeting 1 1/2 weeks from now, we will have a better idea what he will do.
Are most of us have the same opinion that Fred Thompson would have the same coat tails as Reagan did and lead us to a Republican take over in 08 ?
Yes, I want Hunter as President, but, I would vote for Fred Thompson ( even though there maybe 1 or 2 issues that most of us Conservatives don't agrees with him on ) if it would give us the greatest opportunity to beat Hillary, get another chance to appoint another Conservative Justice to the supreme court, and win back control of congress.
But ? what are the beliefs of those who are in the Church of Christ ? are they against Israel ? please Fred Thompson ? never give up on Israel, and never forget Israel.
